08:00 pm - And in other news... I forgot to mention that three rejections came home within the last 24 hours. Two went right back out the door, one to Aeon and the other to Interzone (who right now are open to e-subs until Nov 30th). That puts my submissions to date at 39. This is week 48 for those of you keeping score.
Shiny counter #1:
And, since I didn't notice the counter site was up and running when I posted my NaNo news, shiny counter number 2:

06:21 pm - The song you've all been waiting for... Just thought I'd sing a little song,
I did it, I made it, I typed the end, oh yes!, I said I did it, I made it, I typed the end, oh yes, I said...
You get the idea. Besides, the icon says it all. I wrote 1554 words today, bringing my NaNoWriMo total for "Poison" to 50,398. Yay! Of course it's a lean MS at the moment, full of plot and short on description, but I did actually get to the end, typing the words and everything! I'm feeling pretty giddy about now. :)

11:04 pm - A hard day Tough trip to Toronto today.
On the writing front I'm soooo close. Wrote 1455 words, so I'm sitting at a total of 48,844. Tomorrow should do it! Yay!
My son played trombone in his first school concert tonight. I couldn't be more proud. :) Current Location: my office Current Mood: exhausted

07:06 pm - Butt in chair I wrote 4,341 words today, making up for my pathetic weekend numbers. Not the 6K I hoped for, but I want to watch Battlestar Galactica and I'm feeling pretty sick so I'm going to cut myself some slack. That puts my NaNo total at 47,389. So I have less than 3K to go. Woot!
I'm going to take the bus to Toronto tomorrow and bring my laptop, so who knows, I might hit my goal a couple of days early. If not, there's always Wednesday.

10:25 pm - Pathetic weekend NaNo numbers part 2 I didn't write much today. Only 769 words. The total NaNo novel count is now 43,048. Finally, another thousand words closer to the goal.
Tomorrow must be a high count day or I'm not going to make it. I'll aim for 6K. Wish me luck.
The shiny counter site appears to be down, so no yummy green-ness tonight. Current Location: in bed Current Mood: exhausted

10:38 pm - Toronto visit a success I took the kids to Toronto today, since my older son didn't have a hockey game. We did some shopping (I got one great deal), ate at the Rainforest Cafe (great food, as always), and attended the Tesseracts 11 Book Launch at Bakka.
We used up pretty much the whole day, so I only wrote 261 words today, just enough to fulfill my Club 100 obligations. Good thing I worked up a buffer. That puts my total for the NaNo novel at 42,279. No shiny counter, as it's not a high count day.
I can't wait to watch Battlestar Galactica's "Razor" which I'm taping right now and will watch whenever I get the chance (likely Monday when the kids go back to their dad's). So no spoilers -- I mean it! Current Location: in bed Current Mood: exhausted

10:35 pm - Getting closer all the time I wrote 2000 words today, putting my NaNo total at 42,018. It's feeling so do-able now, despite my very busy week next week. I am determined to get there. The shiny counter:

03:55 pm - The sweet smell of 40K Woot! I wrote a whopping 3,332 words today, scraping me past the big 4-0 line with 40,009 words. How sweet it is! And that was after three trips to the school and back (long story there) in the first-snow-of-the-season-bad-driving weather. On the plus side, I engaged my 4WD in the Jeep. The shiny counter:

05:55 pm - Another day, another accomplishment I wrote 2,066 words today on "Poison", bringing my total for the novel to 36,698 words. Not too shabby! I'm slowly building up a bit of a buffer to coast through the weekend with the kids. Shiny counter #1:
I also submitted "Coolies" to On Spec bringing my total subs for the year to 37. This is week #47 so I'm only 10 shy of catching up. On the down side, I might have to write some brand-spanking-new stories to make the year-end goal because I only have 4 more stories in my un-subbed inventory and the rest might not come back in time to be turned around quickly. So my post-NaNoWriMo December won't be as relaxing as initially anticipated. Shiny counter #2:

09:48 pm - Slogging words today Writing seemed harder today, but I hit my daily count, with a couple hundred words to spare. Today's tally was 2,099 putting the NaNo novel total at 34,632 words. The shiny counter:

10:15 pm - Word counts and story subs I hung out at Starbucks this morning to accomplish my 1,884 NaNo words. That puts my total for the novel now at 32,533. Shiny counter #1:
I also submitted two stories today. "Dallas's Booth" is off to GOWANUS and "Puddles of Melancholy" is ready to mail to Asimov's. That pops my submission total to 36. Shiny counter #2:

03:13 pm - Today's count so far I visited my sister in St. Catherines yesterday afternoon and evening, and got home late.
Today, I put in my word count, reaching 1,867 and the daily goal. I've now broken the 30K barrier, sitting at 30,649 words total.
I had planned to write a lot more words today, hoping to build up a buffer before my kids come home tomorrow. But I need to get groceries. When I come home, I will work on a couple of submissions first before I go back to the novel. I will post the shiny counter at the end of the day, in case more words come later. 12:48 pm - Got 'em down in time I have other plans later today, so I had to get my word count in early. Woot, hit the 1,861 word mark a few minutes ago, and with half an hour to spare. That puts me at 28,782 words in total for the NaNo novel. The shiny counter:

06:03 pm - Is that snow coming down? [I keep forgetting to use the NaNo icon!]
I spent the day resting and enjoying the happy feeling of being caught up with NaNo. I finally planted the bulbs I bought a month ago. You know you've waited too long when it's snowing while you're gardening.
This evening, I put in my daily NaNo count, writing 1762 words. That puts me at a comfortable 26,921 words. The shiny counter:

08:11 pm - I did it! Finally, after half a month of trying and slipping, I caught up on NaNo. Yes, today is the 15th, the halfway point in November, and my word count is 25159. Woot! I'm so exhausted I don't think I can write another word tonight. I was counting after every paragraph, but I'm there. Fingers crossed that I don't let myself get behind again for the rest of the month. The shiny counter:

10:06 pm - Breaking a big number I made my NaNo Word count today, and topped up a bit for being under yesterday. I'm still behind, but I broke the 20K ceiling. What a relief. That puts me at 20,061 words. The shiny counter:

07:50 pm - A gruelling day at the keyboard Today, my children switched back to their dad's and I vowed to write 6K words. And yes, I just achieved my goal. I penned 6,336 words today, in my first solid attempt to begin to get caught up, putting me at 16,528 words. Whew! *wipes brow* Shiny counter #1:
In my one of my breaks/procrastinations between chapters, I subbed three stories. "Courting Ice" is off to F&SF, "Outlier" to Fantasy Magazine, and "Yummy Mutants" to Neo-Opsis. That puts me at 34 submissions for the year. This is week 46 so I'm still behind, but who cares. I'm slowly seeing less red and more black on my submission tracking spreadsheet and I'll take that any day. Shiny counter #2:
Go me!
Tomorrow I'm off to Toronto for a meeting. Current Location: my office Current Mood: accomplished Current Music: Puddle of Mudd: Control - acoustic version

09:44 pm - Readying for the cold I was up very early this morning to take my older son to a hockey practice. We were at the rink at 6:30am. I now feel a little more like a hockey mom, paying my dues with the before-dawn practice.
I spent the afternoon doing a few more things to the yard to get it winter-ready. I brought in the solar lights, put the hose away, and scooped a multitude of leaves from the pool.
Sundays are hard. This one will not be an exception.
On the writing front, I added 1880 words to my NaNo novel, mostly at the practice this morning (until my laptop battery died -- I can't even get an hour out of it anymore). That puts my total at 10,192. Finally, I broke the 10K barrier. The shiny counter:

09:50 pm - Winter errands getting done I spent most of today shopping with the kids for winter stuff. They now have winter boots and winter coats, so I feel more prepared to face the cold weather.
Not too many NaNo words today, but a respectable 753 bringing me to a total of 8314. The shiny counter:
