  What's getting on my nerves lately? The terms "baby daddy" and "baby mama."
  
  Don't ask me why I am just getting around to being annoyed at them; I don't know. I guess if I paid better attention to the world around me, I might have reached this point two years ago. But I'm there now, so watch out.
  
  And now, to repay you for indulging my little tantrum, here's an interesting article on the etymology of the words/phrases.

My church is now looking for its fourth minister since 1995. Before that, we'd gone 27 years with the same pastor, who was also the congregation's founding pastor (a slightly deceptive phrase; the church was planted before he was called, but he was the person God used to do the all the early growing work). One of the litmus-testing dichotomies you're asked to choose between in the Teachout Cultural Concurrence Quiz is "The Fifties or the Twenties."

(Others include "Blue or green," "The Marriage of Figaro or Don Giovanni," "Mikhail Baryshnikov or Rudolf Nureyev," and "Fall or spring." It was interesting to do the meme and learn that, as much as I think of his writing, I can't say my tastes are very similar to TT's. But I digress...)
