Piracy on the High Seas
Dearka sat on the edge of his bed, reading a technical manual whilst waiting for Millie to get dressed. They were attending an officers' ball later that evening. Unlike her, he was already dressed and ready to go. That was one huge advantage of being a military man - one never had to think about what to wear. The dress uniform always made the ladies cream. Though he actually had only one lady in mind and she was his wife.
He watched Millie fuss with her hair and accessories. He smiled with proprietary pride, seeing her wedding band on her left ring finger, a companion piece to the one he was sporting on his own hand now. Many people in ZAFT had been amazed that such a high-ranking officer such as him would choose a Natural as a wife but the two of them had never cared about such issues. Similarly, many of them remarked that it was not surprising that he had chosen such a petite, sweet-looking young lady. She looked like your traditional military wife. He snorted in disdain. They couldn't be further from the truth.
Because what lurked beneath that cute exterior was the criminal mind of a pirate. She had come crashing through the calm seas that was his life, causing a veritable storm. And it wasn't violence in the metaphorical sense too, he thought ruefully, hands unconsciously reaching up to rub his neck as he recalled their very first unpleasant encounter. The world was fortunate that Millie chose to earn her living through legitimate means. His wife had the makings of a very cold-blooded killer.
Dearka also knew that despite his reputation as a gentlemanly soldier, he wasn't very noble either. After all, he had done more than his fair share of pillaging and plundering of his own. There was nothing dignified or pure about the way he wanted Millie. He lied, cheated and shamelessly begged. He rampaged through her mind, methodically doing his best to strip her of every memory of Tolle, vowing to himself that there was no way he would lose to a ghost of the long departed.
She took a lot of persuading but everybody knew that old saying - He chased her till she caught him. For once Millie's sights were set on him, she proceeded to ruthlessly stake her territory. The first time she kissed him, he almost lost his mind, struggling to find his anchor in the torrent of emotions that she aroused in him. She extorted from Dearka every single bit of his time and his love. Just when he thought he had none left to give, she demanded for more. And he spent himself willingly, almost slavish in his devotion to her. For Millie, he would gladly walk the plank.
Dearka smiled to himself as he reminisced about their tempestuous courtship. They made quite a pair, the two of them.
"Dearka?"
Millie's voice jolted him back to reality.
"Yes, baby?"
Millie walked over and presented her back to him, her hands ineffectually attempting to hook up the gown.
"Could you help me hook up this up, please?"
He grinned and tossed the manual on the bed, reaching up for the offending hooks.
"Aye, aye, captain."
