I just want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. We are all doing well and I have the best medicine available to make me feel better. A monkey named Jarrod. :)
He loves to be squirted with water, so I was doing that then I let him have the bottle to play with. First he spit at it 'cause that is what it was doing to him afterall and then.. he figured out how to make it work. Wasn't long before he was soaked but he still jumped everytime the water hit him in the face.
He is such a joy. |

A little over a month ago, Jarrod rolled from tummy to his back. Looked more like an accident each time he did it. He still rarely does it and it still looks like it is happening by accident. Well on Sunday he learned to get from his back to his tummy. The problem? He LOVES the rolling over part. Not so thrilled with the being on the tummy part. With his reflux he tends to lose a bit of his last meal if left on his tummy too long too so we have to keep turning him back over to his back after awhile. We try not to turn him back too quick 'cause he needs to practice turning the other way but it is hard to play with toys hanging overhead and we don't want him totally frustrated either. |

Little boy went to sleep at 9:30 last night which is an early record for him. I knew he would never sleep all the way to morning from that time but 4:00am gave him a good 6.5 hours and then 5am to 8am was another 3. I am getting concerned that he is eating too much. Day before yesterday was 16oz of BM and 16oz of formula and 4oz of water. This is on track for 32oz of nutrition a day but yesterday I went back to not watering down his formula to see if he was able to sleep more (BTW it made no difference as he slept 14 hours each day). So he took 36oz of formula and BM. He is so big and getting so cheeky and being overweight myself I know I am putting that on him. He is a big boy length wise but I want him to be a healthy weight for his age and height. I did tell the doctor's assistant at his 2 month appt that he was eating between 30 and 36oz a day and she didn't say anything wrong with that but she also didn't notice he had a rash -all- over his front either until I pointed it out. I don't like her at all. I -love- our doctor but his staff and assistant can be so rude.
His next appointment is June 9th which is his 4th month one and we'll see if weight is still an issue. I don't mind a big baby, I just don't want a fat baby. His cousin is 1 year 3 months older than him and already he stands up past her shoulder. The difference between me alone on the scale and me holding him is 20lbs but I really don't think he has gained 6lbs in a month so he has to be less than that. I do know I have to take some size 2 diapers back to the store and exchange for size 3 'cause he is getting so 2s are okay for day but the longer stretches at night is a leak waiting to happen and I won't even talk about how the diapers work with .. well you know. He is definitely a good pee'er :) |

In the past week Jarrod has learned that he can suck his bottom lip into his mouth. This is a -good- thing as he will sit there and use it sort of like a pacifier when his hands aren't free or even when laying on the changing table. When his hands are free he prefers his bunny or his bib, he stuffs it in his face and would up his nose I think if it would fit. He is just so cute. |

Jarrod turned 3 months old yesterday and he is keeping me very busy but I hear the worst for a newborn is the first 3 months so we are past that.
He can sit if his back is supported. Why? Because he wants to be straight out as in a board. He is stiff as one too. I have to use my hand at the front of his waist as a pivot point to -make- him sit. The books go on about how you can pull the baby into a sitting position with his hands. Nope, not my baby. Pulling him up by hands leads to standing, not sitting. Sitting is rarely his choice of positions. But he is a very good sitter, will sit in the high chair or the couch, no slouching and rarely any leaning or tipping to the side. Just need to have a hard surface behind him or he is laying down.
Other news? He has always rubbed his eyes when sleepy.. now he does it with the back of his hand rather than the front of his hand. That means he will continue to see. For awhile I thought he was going to dig his eyes right out with those little fingers of his, silly boy.
Saturday through Monday night he slept more than 8 hours from 11ish to 7ish each night. Last night he woke up at 4:30am but it looks like we are getting closer and closer to consistent sleeping through the night and his schedule seems to be working itself out a bit more.
He absolutely loves his mobile. He gets some time on his back under the mobile after he eats in the morning. He flaps his arms and kicks his legs, hitting his heels into the mattress. Tummy time is mostly something he dislikes but he is good about lifting his head when he is there until he gets impatient with the whole thing. No turning over yet.
He sleeps wrapped up in a receiving blanket wrapped tightly around his arms so he cannot move then strapped into the car seat. I feel like we are putting him in straight jacket but he seems to like it. A challenge perhaps too, when he wakes up, I can hear him moving around, fussing a tiny bit as he wiggles to get his arms out. He usually succeeds too. If he manages to get them out I go in to get him up and he can be so happy!
Speaking of happy.. when he was first born the worst thing you could do was change his diaper. He would kick, scream, cry so hard he couldn't breathe, even turn purple with his .. unhappiness. Now, the most reliable way to make him smile is to change his diaper. He can be having a -fit- but as soon as you touch his bare belly, he is all smiles and coos. He is a very silly boy. :)

The previous post also took two days to write too, guess we can see how important computer time is to me at the moment compared to eat, sleep and staring at a sleeping baby.
I am quite thankful my mother is staying with us for a couple of weeks, means I can go take naps and -really- sleep knowing he is well cared for and don't have to listen for him to wake up except in the middle of the night. |

Unless I go into labour on my own before hand (which I can't imagine happening as the baby has yet to even drop), Talia Ruth Alles or Jarrod Robert Alles will be born Tuesday morning. The C-Section is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday is also my mother-in-law's birthday so I told her that this year she is getting a once in a lifetime birthday gift this year or at least I pray that she is and that there will be no complications.
Knowing what has happened with a very close friend it is very difficult not to think about the worst but worrying won't change anything so I am determined not to think too too much about it. :)
Now I just have to fight the sweet cravings for a few more days so I can try and lower the baby's glucose levels before he/she is out in the wide world. :) |
