I'm not dead
Alright, it's been a LONG LONG time since I've had an actual update. lol. I barely know what to say. Um....let's start with movies. Be forewarned, there will probably be spoilers ahead. I could cute...but I won't. Cause I'm a) at work and am trying to type this fast, b) lazy, and c)...No Screw you guys. It's my journal, bitches. lol. Kidding. Kidding. Let's just stick with A and B shall we?

Iron Man
I didn't originally want to see this movie because...after Spiderman 3, I'm not real hot on superhero movies, but this one was...amazing. RDJ was beyond perfect for Tony Stark and, as [info]pinkbutterflies well knows, I now I have little bit of a crush on him. Damn Iron Man. The ending friggin killed me though. I mean, it was fantastic, but "I am Iron Man" and that's it? Dammit, I want to know what happens. And it'll be forever before the next one.

X-Files: I Want to Believe
The X-Files was my first real fandom, starting from about...I was either 8 or 9, and the first convention I ever went to (at age 11) was in Chicago for X-Files so, to say I was looking forward to this movie is a bit of an understatement. Maybe my hopes were just too high, but I wasn't that impressed. I get why, after all these years, they needed to do a stand-alone story to appeal to non-XFiles fans too, but that plot was kind of ridiculous, even for this show. That being said, the cast did the best with what they were given. Billy especially. Though I wish they'd had a few more cameos other than just Skinner. Where the hell were the Gunmen, dammit? (SHUT UP! THEY'RE NOT DEAD!)

Mamma Mia
It was...cute. Not as good as Hairspray, imo, but still good. I didn't have a lot of expectations for it though, other than to be entertained, so I can't say it failed. Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgaard, and Colin Firth should probably just never sing again. I was actually really impressed with Amanda Seyfried. I had no idea she started out in musical theater, so it was kind of surprising to hear just how good she was. And Dominic Cooper was amazing as always. Lay All Your Love On me was probably my favorite moment in the movie. lol

The Dark Knight
The Friday it came out, mom told me she wanted to see a movie, so my friend Emily and I were trying to decide between this, and Mamma Mia. Thank GOD we chose this one. It was...I don't even know how to describe it, honestly. And if you haven't seen it, GO NOW! From start to finish, it was perfect. I know a lot of people have complained it was too long, but I've seen it now 4 times and never once had a problem with it. I really don't know what they could have cut. Someone mentioned the scene in Hong Kong, but if you think about it, they needed it. We'd already seen Lau going back to Hong Kong, but by the end of the movie he has to be back in America. You just know if they hadn't shown Batman go get him, people would have been like "WTF?! He's back?!"

Yes, ok, this is (imo) Heath Ledger's best role ever and he stole the show really, but can we all please try to remember there are other people besides him in the movie. It kills me that in every interview the cast does, all they ever get asked about is Heath. Yes, it's heartbreaking that he died, but it's not their faults.

Now that I've said that, will I be crucified if I said he wasn't my favorite? I think Morgan Freeman was vastly underused, but I guess his character wasn't as crucial to the story this time around. I still think Michael Caine as Alfred is amazing and gets some of the best lines. Maggie Gyllenhaal was a big improvement over Katie Holmes, but I hate that Rachel was nothing more than a damsel in distress. In Batman Begins they made her out to be so tough. What happened? And Aaron Eckhart is insanely perfect as Harvey Dent. Watching him fall from Gotham's "White Knight" to Two-Face was...incredible. He really is an amazing actor. If I loved watching Harvey fall, what I love most about the Joker is...he's got nowhere to fall. I love that they don't show his backstory at all. He just shows up one day and BOOM!

My three favorite lines?

1) "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." - Harvey Dent
2) "Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." - Alfred [re: The Joker]
3) "He's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero, he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight." - Gordon

And did anybody else cry when Gordon "died"? lol

Alright, I think that's enough of movies. Ummm...Breaking Dawn. Yes, I know everything (including how it ends, and who died) but I have not finished it yet. It's...alright so far. Not my favorite, but I've read much worse. The reason I haven't finished it yet though? I've been distracted. I saw a trailer for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's new movie, and I had to read it. I wish I could say it was a novel or something but no. It's a comic book oops. Don't want to get killed. It's a graphic novel called Watchmen and so far? Kind of amazing, actually. I love that...they're really not heroes. I mean, JDM (Best known for Grey's Anatomy's Denny, and Supernatural's John Winchester)'s character The Comedian/Edward Blake? He's a murderer/attempted rapist who enjoys inflicting pain on...anybody, really. They're complete and total anti-heroes, and they're amazing. The movie actually looks really good too. Can't wait to see it. JDM, Jackie Earle Haley, and Carla Gugino were perfectly cast, I think. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out.

And last but not least, my newest obsession. No, I still have not seen a single episode of the newest season of Doctor Who, but that's because another Brit show has caught my eye. Robin Hood For those who haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's...cheesy at times, but a lot of fun. And the hot guys! Oh the hot guys! Richard Armitage, Jonas Armstrong, and Joe Armstrong (as Sir Guy of Gisborne, Robin Hood, and Allan A Dale) are all GORGEOUS. lol Here you have a Marian/Guy video I'm...completely in love with.

Alright, I already said I'm at work, and the guy should be coming to give me my break any minute. I'll try to update more often but...honestly? I've said that before.

So, I know I'm WAY behind (I haven't watched a single Doctor Who from this season yet) but I finally watched the Torchwood finale and what the hell? How could they...? I'm still crying. Bastards.

Ever since I saw the second Chronicles of Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, I've had a slight obsession with Susan/Caspian as a pairing. They're just so sweet, and sad at the same time. This fanmix is really two different ones. The first half is kind of the ideal ending for the movie. The second half is examining more of what really happened, even past the ending. I hope you guys like it. Oh. Credit where credit is due. The gorgeous cover art was made by the brilliant [info]illuxtris

I hope you enjoy the mix. Please comment if you download. Let me know how you like it. Also, if the links die, let me know and I'll do my best to reupload them asap.

What's really sad is I didn't have to look it up to know that entire thing. lol So the last couple days I've been watching The Omen on AMC. The original one. The good one. I've seen it before, but not since the remake came out. Now I liked the remake, I did. Mostly because I LOVE Liev Schreiber and David Thewlis. What I'm not sure of is why it was made to begin with.

The remake, while entertaining enough, goes for those cheap scares. Those retarded dream sequences? What was with that? The only thing really unsettling in the remake is the beginning with the priests talking about end times and showing the pictures of....everything that's been going on lately. (9/11, etc). The original one still manages to freak me out a little. It goes for mood over everything, and does a great job of it.

If I ever do become a director (and I know it's not always their choice) I don't want to do a remake unless the original really sucked and I KNOW I can do better.

But please, somebody let me know when they're remaking The Exorcist (because you just know it's coming) because that's when I give up on modern horror.

And another meme....
Open your iTunes (or comparable music library) and put the sucker on shuffle. Next, and now this is a doozy, WITHOUT cheating--ie, without saying, oh eff I hate that song why the fuck did I download that shit in the first place, NEXT-- let your shuffle dictate what theme songs are appropriate for the categories below:

I've never this meme so many times it's not even funny. But I'm bored, it's entertaining, and it's different every time (a little different at least.

Bored! Help me!

I'm incredibly bored so you get two meme's.

Comment to this post with an offer to write in any fandom that you or I have in common. I will answer with a prompt. Then, you will write me comment-fic, snippets, or whatever comes to mind. Now go post this in your own journal and demand fic of your very own! Make your flist work! You had a long week and you DESERVE it, dammit!

Pick a fandom you know I know about, and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
6. The character I would shag anytime
7. The character I'd want to be like
8. The character I'd slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise

Studio 60 Music Vid
So it occurs to me that I've had this video on youtube since October and I've never posted it on my LJ, and I know a few people on my flist used to watch it. It was kind of my final goodbye to an amazing show. I got in over my head a little bit, cause I didn't realize just how long the song was, but I did my best, and I'm actually kind of proud of this one. So here it is:

Even after waiting for 3 hours at the baggage claim at LGA (there are some scary people at the airport) it feels good to be back in NYC. I don't know why (yes I do....I'm a Bway geek. lol) but I feel better here than anywhere else, and I've pretty much got the hang of anything we might want to do. I still haven't mastered the subway yet. Our hotel is pretty nice...ok...the lobby and the guest lounge are nice (the guest lounge is cool as hell), but the rooms are tiny and the heat/ac doesn't work for SHIT.

So tonight we saw Spamalot with Clay Aiken. First of all, it has to be said, Clay didn't suck. He was actually pretty good. What I don't understand (well, I do, but I don't like it) is why he got WAY more cheers than the rest of the cast when he didn't really do anything until "You Won't Succeed on Bway if you Don't Have Any Jews". Rick Holmes (Lancelot/French Taunter/Tim the Enchanter, etc) was HILARIOUS and really hot. lol. And Tom (I think that's his name...he played The Historian, and Not Dead Fred, and Prince Herbert and a few others) was absolutely adorable and very sweet. [info]pinkbutterfliesand I didn't even attempt to get Clay Aiken's autograph or anything. Apparently he only signs if you're right up against the barricade and even though we left before the curtain call was over the stage door was PACKED. Also, when he came out, people went crazy. Some girl jumped up on a plant pot and everything. People were standing on his car. It was just insane. I would have pushed through them all for Chris, Tom, Rick, or a couple others, but Clay...no. That said, I am SO depressed that we missed Chris Seiber. I've had a crush on him since that friggin Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen show (It Takes Two), and his episode of Pushing Daisies was my absolute favorite, AND he completely rocked Dennis Galahad, and the Black Knight.

Alright, I should get going. I'm SO tired. I only got about a half hour of sleep last night. Tomorrow [info]pinkbutterfliesand I are seeing Young Frankenstein. I really really really hope we get to meet Roger Bart. LOVE him.

Later!

Please tell me somebody else on my FList has seen Atonement? I kept trying to read the book but I just couldn't get through it for some reason. So I was watching it tonight at work (Leave me alone, we were SLOOOOOOOOOOOW) and....oh my god...I just....

I'm pretty sure the security guard on tonight thinks I'm an idiot cause I was definitely bawling when he came in. I have to try to get through the book again, cause the movie was just....AMAZING doesn't seem like the right word to describe it. I was all for Juno for best picture. Now, even though I still think it'll go to No Country for Old Men, I'm really pulling for Atonement.

So, my dad brought me my mail at work (why? I don't know) and because I was a dumbass, I opened the card from my grandma. She sends us all cards for every holiday, so it's never a big thing but today it is.

Last year on my birthday, my great grandma passed away. Great grandpa died when I was little. There were a lot of kids left behind, so there was a lot to work out regarding the sale of their land. They must have gotten it figured out because with this card I got a letter and a $500 check. The letter said something about how this was part of her money from the land sale (already talked to mom and amber, they got the same) and that she wanted us to save most of it, but use $20-$50-$100 and get something personal for ourselves. She also said that when we do it we should say a prayer for our great grandparents because none of it would have happened without them.

And now I can't stop crying. Just had to open that damn envelope. Crap. and I'm at work for another 3 1/2 hours.

I'm soooo tired, but it was a good night. My dad surprised me with an early christmas present. Tickets to Brad Paisley with Taylor Swift, and Rodney Atkins. I don't know how many of you knew I liked country music, but I was soooo excited. The show was AMAZING. I was never a big fan of Taylor, but I'll admit, I sang along to "Our Song" and she was so adorable. There was a moment where I really thought she was going to cry. She couldn't talk, it was so sweet.

Rodney Atkins is just HOT and I'm kind of addicted to "Cleanin My Gun". Best song ever, and probably the anthem to every man who has a teenage daughter. I know my brother in law loves it. lol. Poor Mackenzie isn't going to be able to date until he's dead.

Brad was AMAZING. So hot, and he puts on an amazing show. Absolutely incredible. He sounds great on his cds, but he definitely sounds better live. I sang along to every song, but never quite as loud as when he sang Folsom Prison Blues.

It was a great night, but now I need to go to bed. I'm so tired, and I never sat down except during intermission (we were in the 10th row). Pics coming later, but for now, sleep.

So, ok I just finished watching the newest episode of Pushing Daisies (thank god for Canadian uploaders. lol) and OMFG!! First of all, I love that it's called Bitches.

Second, that dream sequence in the beginning? So hot...except for...the end of it was just creepy. lol

Third, why does Ned have to be the perfect guy? Damn fictional characters.

Fourth, I've never loved Olive as much as I do right now. For acknowledging that he just doesn't return her feelings, or not in the same way.

And last but not least...I love Joel McHale. lol

Next week's will be even better though. Paul Reubens and Christopher Sieber (Spamalot) guest star. I don't know much about Chris' character...I think he might be the one who dies in the beginning, but I know Paul's character is an Olfactory Worker who "smells something different about Chuck." *squee*

lol. Best. Show. Ever.

About Walk Hard...I only knew Jason, Paul, John, Jenna, and Tim were in it. I completely geeked out when I saw the rest of the cast list. This movie's gonna be amazing...how can you screw it up with that cast list?

Now, about the WGA strike, I support them wholeheartedly (I kind of adore the cast of The Office for refusing to cross the line, and Greg Daniels for getting production shut down) and I completely understand why they're doing it, and w hy it's so important, but at the same time it's killing me. After this week, The Office goes into reruns, Pushing Daisies is written up through 9 episodes. I don't know what I'll do without those two shows on a weekly basis. And apparently, if the strike goes too long, all those shows are finished (at least until next year). For purely selfish reasons, I hope this strike ends soon (with the writers getting paid for the internet "promotions", dvd sales, and whatever else of course)
