Today was Zach and I's 3 year anniversary. We TOOK A NAP [I recently converted Zach into a napper], gave eachother gifts and went to get sushi and beerz/cocktails. Too many cocktails for me :X. I had such a good time and now we're both interneting side by side in bed.

It's crazy to think that 3 years ago we started dating and loving and adventuring. I can't wait to have more anniversaries and more of the above, maybe not cocktails but definitely naps, sushi and luv.

I love you Zachary, thanks for everything tonight and EVERY day. You are the best!

Zach took me on a wonderful date Saturday! He picked me up at 12 and we drove to Fuel pizza and then to the Mint Museum. It was so much fun to just walk around and talk even if we had to be near women who stuck up the place, smelling like old people.

Later we went to school so Zach could be my print buddy and help me get ready for a critique tomorrow. We didn't run into the wanker but we did hear a ton of fireworks being shot off of the building. Then we came home to smoke and eat popcorn shrimp and waffle fries. Followed by creme brulee ice cream and King of the Hill. Overall the date was perfect and sweet and I'm so lucky to have 'just met' such a wonderful boy!

I worked at school a lot today, spent ~6 hours in studio, messing up and figuring out how to fix mess ups. I found out with one more printing class I have met my requirements [besides general education] for being a printmaking major... like - I'm done. I think that's silly and John told me after that I can't even take anymore printing classes unless I change from a BA to a BFA and I might do it - but it will add a couple years to my college and cost $$$ to have my solo show. I came to Charlotte without a plan.

I have no sense of perception so pardon my angles.

Blah, I still haven't started on a HUGE abstract painting that I have a critique on Thursday :[ I really hate paintingggg.

Me vs. "Big Blue"

Big Blue is the lift in the studio and I was next to a girl putting her stone on the sink and the lift dropped fast and I tried to catch the [$600/90lb] stone but the stone dropped and the lift hit me hard. I wish the picture really showed how purple and swollen it is. The bruise is only like 4 hours old so I can't wait to see it tomorrow...

Went to Lunchbox yesterday for a 33% off used/20% off new records sale and I bought those 4 records. Then we went to Century Vintage to look around, then the Penguin to eat too much.

Our friend, Hunter, got a new dog so we played with it and attempted to name it. It's a Basenji and it doesn't bark. I thought he had finally decided on "Gnarley" and I was excited but he changed it to "Marley". THEN we all went to a putt-putt that is half underground in what looks like a basement/mining shaft. Also I found a bird skeleton.

Today if I ever get myself out of pajamas [and if it's hot] I'm going swimming!

Today has been a great day. Not only did I get to print out 30+ pictures of carrier ships FOR FREE at the library - I got my plugs, another package and a magazine in the mail. No bills today!

These are my notes I took today in my Litho class. THIS PROFESSOR still loves me and told me my stone was the better ones of the class. Our project has been to grain a huge ass stone for one. And then draw a drawing of drawing using extreme lights/extreme darks. OH but our hands had to be 2 ft away from the stone. I mostly used my toes/feet. Anyways I'm going to spend Saturday doing this...

Processing

- Rosin [dried sap]
Dust around stone
- Brush off rosin into "rosin side" of box.
- Add Talc
Dust around stone
- Brush off talc into "talc side" of box.

[Steps above stabilize your drawing]

"Potion"
1 oz of gum arabic
10 drops of nitric acid

- For very delicate ares of drawings [lights, whites] use just gum arabic
- Apply potion/gum arabic
- Rub away drawing over the borders

[Add more gum if it starts to get stiff, or water if gum not available]

IMPORTANT NOTE: KEEP STONE WET

- Use an ALMOST DRY sponge to get most of excess gum off, use cheese cloths to rub dry - until stone light in color (gum is dry)

INKING "Roll UP"
(use nu-clear rubber roller)

Ink: Litho, Shop Mix black

- Use ink straight from the can, do not add oils
- "Knead" ink
- Push out ink across glass, backwards

-Lithotine: like mineral spirits with extra oils

- Put Lithotone ontop of stone and rub off drawing

-Ashphaltum: liquid asphalt, greasy material used to replace drawing

- Rub asphaltum on stone
(no water near stone at this time)
- Ruff/rub until all asphaltum is gone

- Get damp paper towel & rub over stone, exposing your printing base.
(Keep stone damp)

- Roll ink over / dampen / pick up more inc, 8-10 times.
- Wipe sponge once more and let it dry completely.

- Sprinkle with rosin again wipe/rub off. sprinkle talc again, wipe off.

10 drop "potion" on light areas
15 drop "potion" on dark areas

- Rub in "potion" accordingly
- Use sponge - clean up edge
- Use cheese cloths to dry completely

Set aside to dry for a day.

But it was paying attention to Crystal and I snuck up behind it and picked it up and it hissed at me and scratched me =/ It's because I startled it and I feel bad and maybe rabid. But when I did pick it up it was so fucking soft.

Anyways I want to catch this kitty and name it Garbage.

Edit: Elisha and I went down to Camden and went to American Apparel and a little farmer's market. Then we took the Lite Rail to 7th street and ate at Soho Cafe and then went back! I hadn't rode on the Lite Rail until now and it was really nice and clean. There was no real reason to buy tickets but it was fun to pretend I was in someplace else rather than Charlotte. Eh, sometimes I like it here.

Went to South Charlotte today to hang out at my aunt & uncle's house. We went swimming and had a gigantic feast of shrimp, crab legs, clams, potatoes, corn, flatbread, homemade peach ice cream and brownies. omgz. My grandma was over and being fucking insane as usual. We made watermelon lemonade cocktails after dinner and watched some show on CBS about dog's and either owners. I really appreciate weekends right now with school and work :[
