7:35 pm - Uni stuff
Desperately trying to read through my course litterature and throw together a paper about the usage of power in a school environment I'm forced to repeatedly face the kind of manipulations the school system is designed to use on the students and the more and more pressing awareness of how I've been manipulated and shaped into the supposedly good and well adjusted member of society the state has decided it wants.

It makes me want to REBEL AGAINST IT ALL!

Not entirely useful for getting the paper in question done... *sighs*

4:57 pm - Gardening
One thing I find is quite a pity is that I know next to nothing about gardening... it's up there with sewing and drawing for things I wish I could do. One would think that withboth my grandmothers, my mother, and my aunts being both enthusiastic and skilled gardeners I would've picked up at least something, but sadly this has failed to be the case.

Some of you have been here and seen the garden that goes with this house. It is my maternal grandmother's old house and she used to have quite the garden. Good stuff too, apparently. The red tulips by the south wall come up every spring like clockwork, as does the fire-yellow lily a bit later in the summer. There are the purple and the white flowers that I have no idea what they are and random bushes here and there, some of which I know, the hagberry/bird cherry bush/tree and the lilacs, as well as the various currant bushes.

Alas, since I know nothing, I've done nothing, and after five years of neglect the garden is starting to look a wee bit, well, neglected. Flowerbeds are starting to look less and less like flowerbeds as the various grasses and other nonflowers are invading and the stone-borders are disappearing from sight.

Yesterday I was starting to get the feeling that I really wanted to do something about this, but what could I do? Looking around a bit I figured that, even being me, pulling the ridiculously dead raspberry-sticks out of the currant bushes couldn't be fucked up that much. So I did that. While going on today I realized that after spending that much time head-first down a currant bush I could also spot the ridiculously dead brances of the bush itself, and attack those also. So now at least one of the black-currant bushes is starting to look pretty presentable. Yay!

It's amazing how much you can get done when you're running from a University deadline :)

1:44 am - Today's adventures
Almost half a year since I last updated... this will not do!

Today has been rather adventurous... half of it was expected, as we were scheduled for roleplaying, which is always great. However, shortly before we were going to leave for the city to get to the game we discover that the craziest of our crazy cats has reached new hights of stupidity and has eaten a dishwashing sponge... (One like this except without those dents on the side, and with the white layer, not the green one... you swedes will surely know what I mean (we knew it was a white one because about a third of the white layer was the only thing that remained when we found him)). This beat the previous weirdest thing he's eaten (the remains of half a corn cob) by far.

Naturally this was rather worrysome... we figured it really couldn't be healthy, and the vet we called agreed and said we should bring him in. She said that she could give him a sedative... because whenever they are given such they will empty their stomach contents before they fall asleep, and since the grass we had been feeding him for the very same reason seemed to provoke little reaction it seemed like the best choice. Said and done, before too long there was spongy stomach content on the floor. Quite honestly, poking around in vaguely smelly brownish yellowish goo with a wooden spatula to see if the spongy bits would likely be enough to be the entire sponge is probably my weirdest weekend activity ever >_<

Either way my ever so sweet mother had agreed to take him home with her after the vet visit so he could wake up and recover under someone's watchful eye, so we could actually go on to roleplay afterwards instead of cancelling. With everyone as busy as they are it's always a chore to find the time to gather for a game, but leaving our poor feline idiot unwatched after his adventure just wouldn't have been an option.

Roleplaying took ages, of course, as it always does... so I think I should go try to get those 5 hours of sleep I have time for before I have to get up for Uni tomorrow >_< (somebody shoot me now *headdesk*)

(P.S. If you're not watching my husbands journal you could run over and take a look at this post where there are pictures of us before going clubbing last weekend, as well as the view from my computer at the end... he also made a weird worm thing and a dinosaur of the terrycloth raptor kind)

1:12 am - Dream, Nolia, Fire
Last night I had one of those dreams where you realize you're dreaming, and from then on can control the plot a whole lot more than usually. Among other things I could "fix" my hair after this weird shower thing had turned it blonde and make it dark purple because "This is my dream and I can have whatever hair I want" *grins* it wasn't entirely even, but it was dark ;)
It seems to have been not quite as restful as normal dreams though, because I slept several hours longer than I usually do this morning.

After I'd finally woken up we went to Nolia where we got a few neat things, such as an awesomly cute pair of toe-socks that this seller randomly gave me, just for trying them on so he could see how far up they went. O_o Pictures tomorrow.

In the evening we went to a fairly new asian restaurant with my family (which includes [info]eoeo) and a few of brother's friends. The service was a bit slow, but one can't really blame them, they seemed horribly understaffed for an evening that was probably a lot busier than their usual...

After hanging out with a pair of friends, seeing there newly moved into apartment, it was finally time for the highlight of the evening... EMP doing their biggest and coolest show to date! I love these people... seriously...

Off to bed now!

9:19 am - The morning after
I woke up this morning and appear to have aquired a husband :P

My allergies are the worst they've been all summer and my throat itches like mad, I'm just waiting for my pills to kick in so this annoyance can cease and I can go back to enjoying married life :)

We had to start the other fridge to fit all the leftover pies and salads, it's lucky that we have one... of course, first I had to empty it of all the kitchen towels I had put in it! (In this house we have resources! Just sometimes in odd places *grins*)

There are many pictures, I've been told, and a fair bit of video... so as soon as we get that sorted you'll all be able to feel just as if you were there :) *hugs*

10:34 pm - I'm such a girl sometimes...
So we went into the city today with my mother, which was very nice. Since my mother became a store owner we have had very little time to go into the city together like we used to when I was younger and I've kind of missed it. Anyways I ended up spending more money than was entirely wise, but ah well, it was good stuff :)

Most notably was when I walked into a shoe store to check if a pair of sandals a friend had bought there would fit me too (they laced high up the legs, and I've been after a pair like that for a long time for my Medusa costume) alas they did not. I did however walk out of that store with 3 pairs of shoes! All three of them purple! Quite insane, but hey, when suddenly there are purple shoes to be found a purple girl has to take the opportunity, doesn't she? :) And either way altogether they were under 500kr/€52/$70/£35 so it wasn't so terribly terrible...

Three pairs of purple shoes )

When we get home from the city Velicio (our littlest cat) runs into the house, drops a half eaten boiled potato on the living room floor, and runs out again... O_o

That is one weird kitty...

(I wonder where he got the potato)

8:10 pm - Interesting story from work
So, yesterday evening while I was working two bikers entered the store. They looked very much biker-like with well worn-in pants and leather jackets decorated with their club insignia. They had impressive beards and half-long to long hair. The shorter-haired one also wore a bandana. The longer-haired one looked around searchingly, and being as I am in the service profession I stepped up behind the counter to see if I could be of any service. The biker spots me and this transpires... )

2:48 am - This is my life
So yeah, obviously I didn't die after that post where I was feeling completely and utterly terrible... but if it seemed like that, I'm sorry to have worried you all! But then, my lack of LJ-life is a depressingly common state of things lately and I'll attempt to remedy that.

Long-ass entry behing the cut )After that, well... Jul came and went while feeling not so very Jul-y at all... but it was still nice, I got some pretty neet stuff that I'll show when I get around to it. I've almost stopped coughing. [info]morfeusz is in Germany with his family, and I miss him, but I'm happy he's having a good time there! And on saturday I turn 25!
