bustedwonder1. what is the funniest thing that ever happened in study hall? Not exactly sure what Study Hall is. I ask McKelvie, who doesn't know either. I'm going to take it as the equivalent of my Sixth Form Centre when I was doing A-levels.
This almost certainly isn't the funniest thing that ever happened, but it's the one that sticks in my mind, because it involves bosoms. I'm going to go with it.
Now, I had a terrible crush on a girl called Laura. Laura was the very model of an early nineties-classy indie-girl, and - now I think about it - probably the single most physically attractive person I've ever been on a date with. Ultra-hot. Also, a little bit broken in the head, especially circa Sixth Form.
(She grew out of that, mostly. When she actually had her long-awaited (by everyone male, anyway) sexual liberation, she was in Italy. I still remember a letter she wrote me in her Jane-Austen tones stating things like "Oh Kieron! I have no moral structure when I'm away from you!", which was amusing in itself.)
Anyway, we spent most of our time sitting in the secluded Sixth form kitchen, on opposite sideboards, looking at our feet and mumbling about pop music. This particular day, however, we weren't, and in fact in the middle of the room, her on a table and me standing before her.
We're talking about her new clothing. Specifically, a tight tank-top she'd procured. It goes on longer than any conversation about a tank-top should really go.
A shout comes over from the corner of the room where my circle tended to hang. It's friend Claire Gaffney,
"KIERON!"
We both turn. The sixth form centre stops.
"STOP LOOKING AT LAURA'S TITS!".
Memorable because that the only time i had a reasonable justification for staring at Laura's bosom was the only time I was called on it.
2. what is the thing currently in your posession that you have had in your posession the longest & how did you get it & why do you still have it?Christ. In terms of stuff I just have in my room, it's probably one of my first LPs. The earliest I have here is the greatest hits of Bannananaramamamama, which I keep because I keep all my records and occasionally need top-80s girl-trio action.
In terms of stuff which I still use every day, it's my hi-fi system. I got it when I was 11, and have never got another one (Expanded it with CD systems). I'm far more into spending money on music rather than music systems, and it performs the task admirably.
3. what is the funnest game ever? & why"Funnest" is an interesting one, as it means a subtly different thing from my usual definitions of best games ever. And originally I thought it read "Funniest", in which case I'd have said Monkey Island, and be done with it.
Funnest game ever, however, is the game of love played between two humans, because it's constantly amusing and leads to kissing. OBV.
4. pick a carArmy Surplus Landrover, as owned by Kid With Knife in Team 4.5's heyday.
5. what is the last book you read that your life revolved around while you were reading it because it was so the best thing you ever read omg times forever etc. & how do you feel about that book now?Hmmmm. In terms of novels, I think it may actually be Brett Easton Ellis' Glamorama, which I devoured in a week's holiday in London when it came out.
I haven't re-read it since, but I still speak favourably about it. I liked the fact it revelled in its transitory nature - I particularly liked stuff like when they went record shopping and bought stuff precicely right for the period (Including, memorably, Kenickie). I liked the hyper-dense prose when it froze a moment and then tore it apart - in fact, it's a technique which I'm conciously trying to ape in some comics stuff, having seen Morrison and Quitely on WE3 do something that strikes me as analagous.
Hmmm. Actually, it may have been Cats Cradle or Slaughterhouse 5 something instead. That was more recent. But I've given an answer, and am done with it.
