The semester is over! Thank freaking god. It wasn't a bad semester, but there were a lot of things due in the last week. Combine that with the nasty cold that I had and you have a recipe for fun!

We moved to our new house, I have to post pictures soon. We also got a Christmas tree, and a dog...well we took Casey from my parents.

Work sucks. I hate working with idiots. These guys are all really good engineers, but they suck at a managment, they suck hard. For example: Sean (my former boss) calls today to ask me to fix another of his mistakes. He didn't order parts in time and so the parts weren't going to get to Arizona in time unless I ran around to get the parts shipped. Well, as I told him, too bad, you're not my boss anymore and I have another job to do. I don't think he is too happy with me, but I'm sick of fixing his screw ups.

I got awesome Christmas presents for everyone! I feel that Ted and I really outdid ourselves this year. I got Ted a lot of gifts too, which feels nice since during college I really couldn't buy him a lot.

I'm going to make Christmas cookies this week! Also...made a gingerbread house!

Oooh...20 pounds down!

Boo, Moo, and too much Brew

October 30th, 2006 (12:25 pm)
cold

current mood: cold

I went on my first trip to Pittsburgh. It was nice. We went for Sam's brother's party: Boo and Brew. We stayed at Todd's parents' house.

We drove in on Friday night, the rain was f-ing awful. Saturday was cold and rainy, but we braved it for Primanti Brother's sandwiches and shopping at the "lifestyles" mall downtown (they had the most amazing H&M, I got awesome new ear-rings).

Saturday night was Boo and Brew. I dressed as a witch, Josh was "Dr. Love", ted was a cow, and Todd and Sam were pirates. Sam and I drank to our heart's content, but apparently our stomaches did not like that. I was sick from about 10:30pm on, and Sam followed suit about an hour later. Still, we had fun.

Lesson learned: Never take drinks from a man in a Sugar Daddy costume without asking what is in them.

Who remembers this show?

I want this on DVD so badly. Hopefully that will happen soon. This and Fraggle Rock, which is being made into a movie were the highlights of my childhood TV watching!

current song: I don't feel like dancing- Scissor Sisters

I feel bad that I haven't posted in a while but i have been super busy. I have a lot to post, so I am going to steal the Becky method and number my entries.

1. The woman who sits next to me at work listens to the same radio station every day. It's very loud and apparently this station only know of 25-30 songs that they repeat. I have heard that Buttons song twice already today. Argh.

2. I taught today! I went into Sam's 7th grade Learning Support class and taught first period Language Arts! I thought it went well, Sam said it did as well, so that is more evidence in my corner. I really liked it too, it was fun and the kids were well behaved for me. I am hoping to go in again before the semester is over.

3. I had to teach a mini-lesson in grammar last night in class. Mine was on Conjunctions and you would be surprised how many of the six future English teachers I was teaching did not know their conjunctions! Surprising and sad...

4. So many projects. I had that mini-lesson last night, I turned in a project on Monday. I have a project due next Thursday and then another project due the week after that. Oh add to that a 40 hour work week...I need a mental health day.

5. My boss is an ass. I've been here for 9 weeks already. Every week since I started, when I turn in my time sheet my boss says "Did you actually work 40 hours? I swear you were in class some of these hours" or even worse "Do I get to take off time when you talk to co-workers?" First, I have class at night, after I've already done my 8 hours for the day. Second, I get in at 7am on Tuesday and Wednesday, he doesn't show up until 9 or 9:30 every day. This has gone beyond a joke and I am really sick of it. I'm not busting my ass every day for this shit.

6. Lost like 10 pounds already! Yay gym! Also, 3 months without cigarettes. Yay again! Having goals is fun.

Okay, that's all. Peace out.

it's a new day it's a new dawn it's a new life for me

awake

current mood: awake

So there is this movie that will be on tomorrow night and Monday night called "The Path to 9/11" and there has been all of this drama about it because of false information. Now keep in mind that this is intended to be based solely on the 9/11 Comission's reports, then read what an ABC exec had to say:

"For dramatic and narrative purposes, the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialogue, and time compression," ABC said in its statement. "We hope viewers will watch the entire broadcast of the finished film before forming an opinion about it."

Idiots.

On Monday night, I'm going to the FairMart library to get all of my work for the next few weeks done. This means that I have to go and buy the books for my Wednesday night class. We have to teach a mini-grammar lesson to the class. I'm teaching parallel structure. Then I have an easy powerpoint presentation in computer class and two short (2 page) papers. So far, so good.

Ted is going to Mexico on Monday for a week, and to me, that sucks.

Work+School=tired Meagan. But, I like working at FlexLink (and having a "real" job not a crappy retail job) and I like class.

Ooh, we're going for a second walk through today at the house we liked last week. Todd and Sam are coming with us for a look as well. I'm excited, I like this house. We might put in an offer and see where that takes us.

2nd Full Day of Working YAY!

August 24th, 2006 (12:45 pm)
busy

current location: FlexLink- A'town
current mood: busy
current song: Ana's radio.

So I started at FlexLink on Tuesday afternoon. It feels wonderful to be productive again instead of just sitting at home with nothing to do. I much prefer working. And I do have a lot of work to do, but I need a break for 5 minutes so I thought I would update the ol' LJ.

Found out that my Dad's new office is only 6 miles away from my office! I am excited about this because now I can have lunch with my dad and see him more often, that is, when he is in the office and not in NYC.

Ted has to go to Mexico again on September 11. Strange date to be flying on. I'm not that worried except that it might be crazy at the airports because they love to tighten restrictions for absolutley no reason.

Speaking of Sept. 11, I was watching CNN this morning while I enjoyed my bagel and tea, and they announced that on September 11 they are going to show their original unedited uncut footage of that day in real time. Which means, if you like CNN, you get to relive Sept. 11 all over again. So much for moving on and growing as a nation, nope, we would rather sit in the past and watch it happen again, and again, and again. This is a MAJOR gripe I have with the media, they can't seem to get over Sept. 11. Usually people save this stuff for happy occasions. It is why you'll see "Baby's First Steps" on someone's video shelf and not "Bob Leaves me for another Woman." Common sense people, common sense.

*Deep Breath* Ok all better.

I actually spent some time on my hair today and I must say it looks nice. I figure I might as well take advantage of having long hair and stop pulling it back all the time. I want to cut it all off too, so I'm just getting my kicks in.

I finally have classrooms for my classes! My classes start on Tuesday so I was hoping that they would get around to assigning classrooms. Now if I only had a book assignment for my Wednesday class! Damn colleges are all the same.

finally entering the work force

August 17th, 2006 (01:31 pm)
bored

current mood: bored

1. I got a job! FlexLink is rehiring me as a technical writer (at a pretty good raise too). I start next week once Dave Reese (IT Guy) builds me a computer and they find a desk for me. I am so excited! I can't wait to be working again after having 2 months off.

2. I felt like a narc today. The hallways in our apartment building were just cleaned (due to the flood over the summer and just general traffic) and people have now been smoking in the hallway. This is disturbing for 2 reasons. a. It costs a lot of money to live here and I shouldn't have to be assaulted by the nasty smell (i have no clue what brand they smoke but I am sure the word "Ass" is in there) every time I open the door. b. Almost every apartment here has a balcony! A BALCONY! Smoke on your balcony!

3. Lehigh has aggrivated me already. I went today to change my name. I had my marriage license, my social security reciept showing that my name had been changed but the card not yet received, and my updated drivers license, but they woulnd't change my name. They want my actual SS card, which won't come for a week or two! I might have to start the semester without a student ID (i don't want to go get one in my old name then have to go and pay for a new one in two weeks) and I am hoping it won't interfere with my parking application. So much hassle...

4. I am going to see Sarah on Saturday. I am very excited about this. I haven't seen Sarah since the wedding! That is the longest we have ever spent apart. We're going to drink a ton of wine and eat a ton of food. Why not?

I'm bored. I kind of did everything that I needed to get done. I have nothing left to do. I can't wait to start work...plus the money will be good.

home

August 14th, 2006 (02:15 am)

Back in the US! It actually feels really good to be back home. It was fun to travel and live in a foreign country, but I missed the apartment and our families.

Got my new car, Honda CRV, it has a removable picnic table in the trunk where the spare tire would usually be (spare tire is on the back door). I love it. It's awesome to have a brand new car that is mine. That's never happened to me before.

Kateri's wedding was fun. The water main broke so they were late with serving the food, it would have been fine, but then the kids had nothing to do so they got hyperactive.

Since we got back to the US, my allergies have been awful. I haven't had an attack in probably 2 years, but I've had an attack every day since I got home. I had to keep popping Benadryl at the wedding because they had lily's in the flower boquets and they were killing me. I could handle the sneezing and red eyes if it wasn't for the itchy ears. Not itchy on the outside, but on the inside. It's the most annoying thing ever.

I have to find a job. I have an interview tomorrow at Lafayette Ambassador Bank, but when I made the interview appointment (while I was in Sweden) the woman said "Well the position might be filled by then but come in anyway." Why can't she just call if the position becomes filled so I don't have to drive out to Easton (the interview is in Easton and the job is in Allentown). After that I am going to go apply for some other jobs I found in the paper.

I have to go to Lehigh and get my ID and Parking Permit and books.

I got the apartment orgainzed today which is how I actually had time to do this update.
