Yeah, this is fun, it also reminds me of rogue like games that I used to play back in the day when "colour" monitors had just one colour. Mine was green, and it was plugged into a dual CGA/EGA (other possibilities were MGA and VGA) card, which in turn was connected to an ISA (the real ISA, what we call ISA now is really EISA, or perhaps even VESA) bus, controlled by an Intel 8088 microprocessor.

I had no mouse, or PC Speaker and my keyboard had less than a 100 keys. We played a lot of games on that PC, and created our own sound effects (hence the origin of my whistle if anyone's ever wondered). There was no turbo key on that PC, but everything ran smoothly.

Today I have an Athlon XP 1800. I still play rogue like games (angband). I still don't have a turbo key.
