Volunteer opportunity - another chance to do something! [08 Oct 2008|07:42pm]
Peace Action West is coordinating volunteer shifts over the weekends to do phoning for Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA-11) and Barack Obama.

Each shift is a mere 2.5 hours, and there are 3 shifts each Saturday and Sunday. You can sign up for as many or as few shifts as you want.

All it involves is making calls from a list, and reading a pre-written script (although if you are comfortable with it, I am sure improvising around the points would be welcomed).

If you want to get involved, but can't contribute money, this would be a great way to do so!

Let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with our coordinator for this project.

Want to do something instead of just complaining about politics? [06 Oct 2008|06:46pm]
[ mood | busy ]

Tomorrow evening in Berkeley, starting at 6:30 (so before the Ayria, etc. show), Peace Action West is holding a fundraiser event for a couple of candidates for the House of Reps that we are endorsing.

There will be tapas and at least a wine bar, if not a full bar.

We're trying to get as many people as we can to show up. While we are endorsing Barack Obama, we are putting more resources into the congressional elections to ensure that no matter the outcome of the presidential race, we will have some cool-ass motherfuckers in congress that will stand up for the right shit.

Anyhow, necessary information is below the cut )

Both candidates will be there, of course, as will I. It would be rad to see some of my local politically-minded lefty friends putting their money where their mouth is.

We also have some weekend volunteer opportunities coming up. It would be making a few phone calls in support of Obama and Jerry McNerney. Let me know if you are interested.

Does anyone on my friends list besides [info]structurefall have any guestlisting power for tonight's Babyland show at the DNA?

Sean and I would like to go, but are super broketastically poor.

If you can hook us up, I promise we will do a special dance for you.

A message from my awesome ex Duncan (with whom I still hang out on a regular basis) [27 Sep 2008|03:35pm]
Hey you,

I am sending out a message to find out if you, or any of your friends, have a short horror film that you have made reasonably recently.

I am working with the Berkeley TV Station on a HORROR FILM FESTIVAL and we need 2 minute through 10 minute short horror films to show and broadcast. Deadline is Friday October 3rd.

Please let me know soon, thanks.

Garage sale this Saturday [24 Sep 2008|12:29pm]
[ mood | busy ]

In order to get rid of a bunch of stuff that we can't use or doesn't fit in our apartment, I am having a garage sale at my mom's house in Fremont this Saturday.

We'll be getting rid of some pieces of furniture, such as a loveseat, a giant bookshelf/entertainment center thing and a credenza on wheels.

There will also be some random things like cups and a rice maker. Maybe some clothes.

If you have anything that you would like to unload, but don't have the time to drop off at Goodwill or what have you, let me know! I can drop by and pick it up if you are in the East Bay.

And if you are interested in any of the aforementioned furniture, also let me know. I am not seeking to make a lot of money off of those items.

GARAGE SALE!

I will be once again joining the lovely gogo ladies of Hubba Hubba tonight! I am quite delighted about this, since I haven't been able to do much in the way of my own burlesque acts recently... which actually deserves its own post. That will come later.

Hope to see some of you tonight!

That wacky U.S. right wing [16 Sep 2008|04:22pm]
[ mood | amused ]

This gem was sent out to everyone at my organization in our weekly political update e-mail:

"And finally, to start off your week with a laugh, here is an ad that right wing group Freedom’s Watch is running against Senate candidate Mark Udall about his brief support of the Department of Peace (his 45% score in 2007 on our scorecard shows how much of a crazy liberal he is):

...that is absolutely what it is like working here in our office van. :D

Just talked to Rabbit on the phone and he told me that he is being let out as soon as he finishes one last IV, which should be in the next 20 minutes or so.

Then he is going to a friend's house to rest and behave himself for a while.

[info]dahlia_noir has decided to capitalize on her exquisite tastes and start selling these gorgeous pieces of decor for your head.

In fact, she will have a vending table tonight at Bondage A Go Go! [info]wiljago and I will also be helping her out.

Come by and pick your favorite one up! Be the envy of everyone with a plain, sad, undecorated head. :D

And in the meantime, add her creations on Myspace

Meant to post this yesterday [09 Sep 2008|06:03pm]
1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters whose name starts with that letter and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[info]rhosyn_du gave me J

1. Jasper from The Simpsons: "Who shot who in the what now?"

2. Jane Eyre: My favorite book/character in high school

3. Jiminy Cricket: I think he should make random cameos in other Disney movies.

4. Jerry Seinfeld - The fictional character representing Jerry Seinfeld and played by Jerry Seinfeld on his famous situation comedy, Seinfeld

5. Jagermeister, The: You know, the guy that went deer hunting and then had a vision of a deer with a cross on its head, which inspired him to create a liquor using 56 herbs.

Suggested dress is penguiny or wintery.

Don't expect too much of my mad DJ skillz. I don't spin that often these days and haven't had decks of my own on which to practice in quite some time.

I will, however, be playing lots of stuff that John loves. And after all isn't that the point? ;)
