Someone comes to see who I am because I friended them.  I'm a thirty-something ish mom of four and teacher.  I love fanfiction, especially Stargate Sg-1, Stargate Atlantis, Bones, X-Files, and West Wing.  I'm a ship-whore, usually OTP, and adore Sam/Jack, Daniel/Vala, Booth/Bones,  Josh/Donna, and of course Mulder/Scully.  I also love watching CSI, House, Lost, and BSG; but I don't read much fiction for them.  I have recently stuck my baby toe into the world of writing fanfic.  Mostly I lurk, but every now and then something moves me to post. If I friended you, it probably means I like your fic, and wanted easier access to it.  Yada, yada, yada...

Posting a letter to Centerpoint Energy on Livejournal would restore my power I would have done it two weeks ago!  I love Georgia Lighting and Power!  (Who have been working in my neighborhood the last two days)  I love my air conditioner and my television and my lights and my laptop and my internet! (and my washing machine and my stove and my AIR CONDITIONER) *jumps around happily*  I do not love all the gross things that were hiding in the corners of my house in the dark.  Must clean.  And wade through 250 e-mails! *dances off* 

Dear Centerpoint Energy,
  I am so glad for this opportunity to become an expert at cooking in a gas fireplace and on the grill.  Also playing board games by candle light was kind of fun at first.  But Houston is very hot and mosquito-y, so I would like it if you fixed my electricity.  I know my subdivision is full of beautiful trees that fell down on your power lines.  But 80% of Houston is fixed now, so I would really like it to be my turn.  I miss air conditioning and television that is bigger than two inches by two inches.  Also my laptop and the internet and my e-mail.  Oh, and my refrigerator. Please please please come and work on my neighborhood.  I'd make you cookies, except I haven't figured out how to do that in the fireplace yet.  Hurricane Ike is not my friend.

We have weathered Ike successfully!  We may never have power again - they estimate maybe Monday - but are otherwise safe and sound and have minimal damage.  We're visiting family who live across down, and do luckily have power (since she is nine months pregnant and due any day) doing laundry and checking e-mails. Plus preschool boy is having such a grand time actually watching TV he may never leave! The weather has been lovely and cool the last few days, so it has not been nearly as miserable as a week without power in Houston could be.  mrspollifax  has been a great help -  virtually internetting for me! I hope to be back in the land of livejournal next week!
