Well, as if losing 102-10 wasn't bad enough (yup, it was that bad), the team we played put a highlight video of the game on YouTube. It was pretty much the "Shane Batty Show", he ended up kicking nine goals.
I show up in this thing a couple of times (#22 in Yellow), most notably as the dummy who raised his arms and started clapping like a monkey when we scored our only goal. (It's at 4:09).
And for you Aussie friends of mine, here is a taste of footy, American style.

...an update.
I added links and the whole "I'm playing footy" thing to my profile. I hadn't touched it in two years prior to me sprucing things up. I also took down the remaining "hood ornaments" -- the weatherpixie and the hugs meter because, well, let's face it -- that stuff is so 2002/3. So in a way, I guess I've finally matured.
We move on Sunday. We're about... oh... 25% packed.
For those of you who got it the last time, expect an address post in the next 24 hours. It'll be fun, I swear.
In the meantime... off to dread getting up for work. I have to be there in 20 minutes, y'know. (not really... but it seems that way).

Yesterday was a surreal day. Not only did I play in my first Aussie Rules Football match, I met a bunch of guys from the SportsLogos.net boards at the Phillies Game. That was pretty awesome. But that's for the next post. ( This one is all about footy. )
Training is on Wednesday nights, so I'm defintately going to come out and train with them so that I can get better. Their first real match as the Hawks is on June 7th in Raleigh, North Carolina. If I get a little bit more comfortable with the play, I'll go down with the team. But I still have a couple of weeks to decide that.

Time for my weekly post.
-- Valentine's day was spent sending Chelsea an Edible Arrangement (tm) and trying (unsuccessfully) to take her to a nice dinner. After our "reservations" at Carrabba's fell through, we ended up going to Chic-fil-A instead and decided to wait until Friday night to do something "romantic".
-- So instead, we went to Marrakesh restaurant, which, if you're a keen observer, I've only been to once, and that was all of three years ago, B.C. (before Chelsea). But Chelsea really liked it, and I wondered why I hadn't gone back sooner. Except Friday night there were belly dancers. And that was awesome. Horray for fragments.
-- Yesterday was a "celebration of life" party for Zoraida, at her behest, thrown by her husband. Paul tried to put on a brave face, had a bright Hawai'ian shirt on (nothin' like a big guy in a Hawai'ian shirt), and tried to upkeep the party atmosphere as best he could. He's a real nice fellow, and I feel so bad for what he's had to endure, first with his son and then his wife. Now it's just him and the cats.
-- We go to San Antonio in two weeks. Very excited about all of that.
-- Oh... Quizzo. Chelsea and I had been our own little two-person team for the first three months of this obsession. For the first ten nights of Quizzo, we finished no better than fourth, getting constantly beaten by teams of six, seven, and eight hardcore players. Then, the week after new years, we were approached by a team of five who had seen us holding our own (and thankful that we helped them nudge out one of the juggernauts the week before in a tie-breaker question), and were asked to join up with them. Since then, we've won $60 in free food, and while it's all in good fun, it feels nice to actually go in thinking we may have a chance to win.
-- And I love my cats, but Buzz is going to get thrown against the wall if he doesn't stop being so neurotic.
And I'm spent.

I'm glad it's February. January sucked. Royally.
This post is being written from Chesapeake, Virginia. We're visiting Chelsea's family, since Chelsea is enjoying her first two day weekend since, um... ever, really.
But I have good news.
We're going to San Antonio at the end of the month (we're visiting Chelsea's sister and her family for her nephew's birthday). This is important because I have NOT LEFT THE EASTERN TIME ZONE SINCE I WAS NINE YEARS OLD. OMG!
So that's fun.
We saw Juno last night. It's an incredible movie, and I recommend seeing it if you haven't.
I think "porksword" is my new favorite word.
