Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

HBPS - The Optimist

Humanity, Background, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to humanity. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on humanity, you tend to seek out other people and get energized by being around others. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

What do you guys think?...
Of Elliot's new three year picture, of my new snazzy icons, and of my new layout? I'm open to layout suggestions, I don't know about this one or not. And yes, I finally got a paid account--LJ seems to have straightend themselves out regarding their policies, and I need to be able to post pics of newbaby or you all might kill me. Anyway, isn't Elliot so big?

Three years
Elliot turned three today. i just can't believe it. We went through so much with him, between my nursing problems due to hypoplasia and his microtia, and now he is this funny, smart, crazy little person. Still nursing a few times a day, really excited to meet his little brother who will be here in a few weeks. He is just so sweet, guys. He talks about his feelings, just like a child of a therapist should, lol. I love him so much. I never thought parenting would be so hard, so overwhelming, and so wonderful.

Yeah, baby!
I so rock! I just called my insurance company, and got them to agree to pay for my homebirth!!!! I have to call back next week and have them admit that there are no homebirth CNMs within 30 miles of me that are in network (and there aren't), but they promised, with a reference number and everything, that they would pay in network rates! This is a big deal, because we have a 11,000 deductible on our out of network benefits, so basically no coverage unless it's in network. Wow. This is 5,500 bucks that I don't have to worry about now. Go me!

Nipplegate is finally over!!!!
Livejournal has finally reversed the decision that caused nipplegate, over a year ago! http://community.livejournal.com/lj_policy/1935.html

It states that non-sexualized nudity, such as the image of a mother breastfeeding her child, is not pornographic and is not subject to their terms of service contract.

It's about freaking time. We in the breastfeeding communities have both ourselves and our efforts to thank for this, and the efforts of the fandom communities, who have been victims of LJ's absurdist censorship and have never stopped fighting. Good for us!

I don't watch soaps...
... but I think Luke/Noah deserve our support!

In response to heat they're getting from the American Family Association, P&G is conducting a phone poll to see if people are for or against the Luke/Noah storyline on As The World Turns. Even if you don't watch the show, please consider taking a quick moment to support boy kissing and thwart homophobic bigotry. The poll is completely automated. You don't have to talk to anyone. And it really does take all of a second to register your opinion.

Just call 1-800-331-3774 and press #2 to get to the ATWT poll, then press #1 to continue the storyline.

Please spread the word if you're so inclined.

OMG I WANT TO HAVE HILLARY CLINTON'S BABIES.

I have loved her since I was 14 years old in '92. People either love her or hate her, and I love both her and her husband. I want to be the peanut butter in a Clinton sandwich. I like Obama just fine, I will be proud to vote for him if he wins the nomination, but oh, Hillary. I am your biggest fangirl, I really am.

Baby is in bed, kitchen is clean, I'm on the couch watching CNN. Go Democrats!!! Go Hillary!!!

WHY I CHOOSE NOT TO USE A CAR SEAT
Author unknown

I refuse to feel guilty for making an educated choice to not put my baby in a car seat. There are so many militant car seat users in our society and I am tired of them pushing their beliefs on me. There are lots of reasons I have made this choice. First of all, I want my husband to be able to drive him around in his car. He can just sit him on his lap when they go for a ride. This will help him bond and be closer with our son. I don't want to be the only one that drives him around. It makes my husband, mother and friends feel special when they can take him for rides. I will be returning to work in 6 weeks and I don't want a big old car seat in the back of our luxury
car. I never put my first son in a car seat and he is just fine. I was never in a car seat, neither was my mother and we are both as healthy as can be. On the other hand, my sister in law's cousin used a car seat and her child was seriously injured in a car wreck. My aunt tried to use a car seat and wasn't able to. She was never able to latch the baby in the seat properly. In fact, my car is too small for a car seat anyway. What matters most is that my baby ishealthy and happy.

When I left the hospital, they told me that I should try to use the car seat, but if it didn't work out that it was all right to not use it. In fact, in the diaper bag that I received from the hospital, it has some information for how to safely ride in the car with my son without a car seat. I tried for 1 week to use a car seat with my first son and it made both of us miserable. I told my pediatrician about it, and he said it would probably be best to not use a car seat anymore. Now he is happy and content sitting on my lap as we drive. Using a car seat is just so inconvenient! My privacy is also an issue.
Do I want everyone to know when they see my car that I have a child???
Besides, my children need to learn how to ride in the car without being in the car seat. I don't want a 3 year old still wanting to get in his seat! \I know that using a car seat has some benefits, but there are a lot of people out there who don't use them and their kids are just fine! There are people
there that cannot use a car seat (can't latch baby in properly, car is too small, doesn't match with the interior). Using a car seat is a personal choice and nobody's business. As a parent I have made the decision for what is best for my child. It works best for us and our child.....and that is all that is important. It's my choice after all, isn't it??

Edit 2: I just realized that my mother in law was there, tonight, and she DIDN'T CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT DUMBLEDORE IS GAY. WTF, DORIS?

It's nice to be loved...or at least to have parts of me loved
So, as I was nursing/rocking Elliot to sleep tonight, I said, "I love Elliot". He stopped nursing, looked at me and said, "I love boo-boos". I said, "What about Mama?", and he said, "I love Mama, too". LOL.
