| Candles may pose fire hazard!!!! |
[Sep. 8th, 2006|05:26 pm] |
yes that the title of an article in this weeks Wilmette life my local newspaper.
now is this a story about a. The house fire in a north Chicago suburb where 4(i belive) children died that was caused by a candle b. some candles being sold that may flare up and could possibly hurt someone c. the incrediable study that recently found that open flames may surprisingly burn....
well the correct answer in this case is b yes some candles sold at Pier 1 may flare and could possibly be hazardous. a is true and did really happen last weekend but this paper would certainly not mention something newsworthy and c is completly made up however would not surprise me a bit.
ok i looked for this article online to provide a link but could not find one for my newspaper however if you really care google provided me with a link to the city of Reno's paper http://www.cityofreno.com/gov/news/?newsid=17160 |

a friend that i have been playing diablo 2 with for a while asked me today if i was "religious" i assumed this was ovious with my main characters name being JesusFreaksRock but anyway this led to a good conversation that lasted nearly an hour and varried from homosexuality to why can the bible be belived to who God is and where he comes from (i could use a better answer there), why God allows evil. while this conversation did not directly lead to me sharing the Gospel with him however i think he was interested. I am hoping that in the future this will lead to more conversations and the begining of something wonderful on another continent. (he lives in sweden)
I am praying for this and would appreciate your prayers as well |

| | shine.fm | ] | Ok so recently there has been an advertisement for a foot and ankle clinic on my radio station (shine.fm). Nothing odd there however they are sponsoring Switchfoot songs. Ok a bit odd but I can live with that. What has been bugging me about this is a quote that the owner says during the spot. He says that without understating it Switchfoot is modern-day prophets to our generation. Im just wondering what some of you think about calling bands and other modern out-reaches to the prophets of old.
1In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. Hebrews 1:1-2 |

note if you are completly confused i suspect you are not a fan of Mythbusters..... |

I get to work this morning and things were a bit different but no big deal or so i think. Turns out that the reason that nobody was entering the building was that we had to confirm that the k-9 security unit had been picked up... yep the shop had been broken into last night and 2 of the trucks and lots of tools/equipment had been stolen. so of course this means that the company that i was working for is now cutting back, yep thats right in the last 2 months i have been laid off twice.... so now im going to be looking for yet another job. |

| | shine.fm | ] | Its been a few weeks from my last post, mainly because i have been working alot recently. One of the guys at work quit a few days after i started to work on a cash temporary roofing job. This has lead to more hours for me. This week i worked 4.5 days so 40-45 hours. Next week im working 4 days again and would possibly have had more but i needed friday off to head back to Iowa for encounter. :D
Thursday night I went to the large group of Crusade at Northwestern. It was a bit different than The Rock that im used to however still fun (and laden with wireless mic problems) The only problem is that it is at 9pm. After a long days work and having to get up at 5:30 the next day for yet another day of work... any way i better get ready for church after having slept late and missed the morining services. |

| | pillar atm www.shine.fm | ] | so i started work today at 7am (about 75 blocks from here so 10 miles) anyway we were working on preparing a site for a brick walkway and planting area thus lots of shovel work with wheelbarrows. This made me realize how out of shape i was getting. Still despite at least one possibly 3 or 4 blisters it is still great to have somewhere enjoyable to work. 10 hour days are also an interesting little thing about landscape work. |

| | shine.fm | ] | Ok so i got a job offer this morning :D
It will be a big change from the retail job that i had but i think it will be better. Im still technically debating on taking it but odds are good. Slight pay cut is a factor though. This job involves more landscape construction and it sounds like they want me to start working on estimates and other getting jobs kinds of things. So if this works out it sounds like i could be working here for quite a while. Ill see you in Chicago (or when im back ENCOUNTER!! :)
on a side note it looks like i may have found a church to go to while living down here untill something GCM comes. http://www.ebf-church.org/ closer than Glenn Arbor (by a lot)
and more on Northwestern CRU has a decent sized team there that i may do stuff with depending on schedule but i should at least be able to talk to their leadership about God and Northwestern. I think the guy that welcomed me said that 2 of the CRU leaders attended EBF so that should help contact the main outreach currently here :)
Edit Monday 7am time to work for someone else |

| | computer hum | ] | Ok so I get to work today and have a big surprise in store for me. My manager kind of gets me aside and started talking with me. At fires I thought I was finally getting a schedule that was consistent and again had full hours… but nope after this really big weekend sale you no longer have a job was more what I heard. I was expecting to be laid off this winter after Christmas but this is a significant blow to what I was planning and thought God was leading me to. This winter I thought God had clearly led me to Chicago and employment at Gethsemane, however, now after 6 months I don’t know whats going on. I am looking into other places already and will be updating my resume tonight.
I almost was expecting my life to crash in some way. I have been battling some issues that I have been trying to get control over but thought at least I’m where God wants me, but now I’m not so sure.
Any way I suppose its time to start making phone calls and at least tell my parents what has happened.
I hope your day has been better than mine was. |

| Katrina ..... bout time |
[Sep. 1st, 2005|09:53 pm] |
Honestly im surprised that something like this hasnt happened to New Orleans long ago. The city is on the coast but has sunk to a point where most of the city is below sea level. This is why there was so much flooding simply the wall holding the ocean back broke. I think that if there is a city rebuilt where New Orleans was there had best be some serious precautions taken to prevent this from happening again. Who would want to live where you have to look up to an oil tanker anyway.
/end rant |
