My custodial situation
For all the men out there who don't understand why I am not geographically relocatable, my career notwithstanding, please understand my custodial situation, which I had to spell out for someone this morning. If I dared to leave The City I either forego custody (which is not going to happen because no man is worth that and I'm not that kind of father) or I enter into heavy litigation with the ex-wife with whom I get along very well now (even though her new husband would love to relocate with her to Atlanta). She is bound by the same parameters by our separate agreement, which of course COULD be modified in writing, but our daughter is 12. In a few years she will have far more say in how much she lives with one parent or the other but for now none of us have complained about our basic, but flexible situation of my having her Monday through Friday year round, particularly as she goes to school in my neighborhood and with her mother, who is a few miles away, most weekends.

If I were to move anywhere it would be to France or Italy where I am eligible for dual citizenship and where oil prices are not sacrosanct!

As usual... this isn't a right- or left-brainer... it's a NO brainer! I wonder if people, in general, have lost the ability to correctly read into a situation.

Custody of a child (regardless of age) equates with not moving out of the metro area - even with or without the mother in the area.

Geesh!

Besides, NYC is one of those places you don't leave for another man. I'd go back for sure!
