Bush-swept
The streets of Midtown are almost unnavigable today and I work on the EAST side, almost as far away from Madison Square Garden as one can get, but I guess the extra security is because everyone KNOWS that Bush is coming to town today (more often than not his trips here have been last minute, like on September 14), but he is only going to spend a few hours here (oh to be a swing state). I guess this will sort of be like his trip to Iraq with the fake turkey. Pun intended. As one news reporter put it, "he won't even give us the benefit of the hotel tax for one night."
Yesterday evening when strolling to Bryant Park there were some women wearing the patriotic colors with strap on scud missile dildos and spoke of traveling the swing states during the rest of the campaign because "W is for WAR". They were very a breath of fresh air and a little less conventional than the old hippies who have been handing out fliers for weeks. I took their picture and gave them a dollar. Picture can be seen at www.haydennet.com/2004/sep.
