Vice Prez Debate
I meant to blog this earlier as I do have some knowledge that many Americans may not understand to explain the allegations that Cheney made against Edwards.

The Democrats have produced photos and tapes that show Cheney sitting next to and THANKING Edwards at various events in Washington DC so his claim that they never met before was not true. The other unclear point of Cheney's not seeing Edwards on the floor was how seldom Cheney is actually required to be on the floor himself as the Speaker and, in light of his hiding out most of the last three years, I doubt he was there much. After all, he had a country to run with his well-named puppet.

Next I wanted to address the criticism that Edwards was an absentee politician. When BOTH houses of Congress are majority ruled by the opposite party, the same proportion of members of every committee are required, so how much can partisan legislation and voting on behalf of the minority party accomplish? Their presence is hardly necessary for the inevitable. The only legislation that can be passed in these situations are bi-partisan. How can you fault Edwards for using his time more productively like watching the paint dry? Obviously he's not letting down his constituents if he's been re-elected.
