    More Food Updates
So last night after watching TJ and Pete do makemups onstage, I was inspired to try that restaurant they're always talking about, and went to Sonic.

i had a double cheese burger and an extra long coney chili cheese dog. todd had an extra long coney chili cheese dog. jeremy had a double cheese burger.

the people inside were mopping the floor by flooding it with water and then pushing the water around with a mop, kinda half heartedly.

    My New Store!
    Hey Everybodeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I have a new shop at this place called ETSY, which I'm sure the rest of the world already knows about,
but I just discovered them a couple months ago. Right now I only have a few things up, but I'm working to get a couple others up
quickly, because the world needs cute little puppets, and I need cute little monies.

My shop, where you can find guys like the following:

Oh look! A cute little elephant!
his name is William B Williams!

And we also have the grumpy Señor Buzzybutt, famed in song and story
as the only bee to have faced Señor Walter-the-accountant and have lived to tell the tale!

    This is hilarious
I saw this guy in a show last night, and I found this on his website. For some reason that escapes me, I just can't stop laughing. Warning, it's a bit loud. And it's music.

    Scotty Iseri is silly

Um, watch it to the end for the most silly.

    CALLING ALL COSTUME MAVENS!
A friend of mine is looking for a coat similar to this one:

    and a matching skirt.

Do any of you costume-centric people know any place I could start looking?
My shop could probably make it pretty easily, but I wanted to ask first to see if anybody knew of one already inexistence.

    Thanks. Please let me know.

    As politely as possible...
I have been asked to ask all of my connections the following question:

Would anyone be interested in appearing in a video for the series Silly Sessions?

This specific one is called "Silly Pickle-Lickin'", and will be made up of 30 or so people, in separate shots, in a completely NON-sexual way, licking a pickle.

This is all on the up and up, no alterior motives here. The first video was called Silly Faces, the second one Silly Dances, the third was Silly Horse Whispering, and this last one is Silly Pickle-Lickin', or something like that.

Anyway, if you're interested or know someone who is, contact Steve Gadlin at steve.gadlin@gmail.com OR steve@blewt.com OR steev@steev.org.

Thanks. And, I promise. On the up and up.

    Wow, surprisingly accurate...
I draw comics for Blewt Productions, the creators of Don't Spit The Water and other fine shows. A few months ago, I did one of the DSTW character The Interrogator, played by Nick Vatterott, completely based on my memory of what he looked like.

    Here is that strip:

And here is a picture Fuzzy took of him last week at Chicago Underground Comedy, in which he is making an aLARMingly similar face. Yes, they are both him. but mine is a CARTOON DRAWING. Talk about rubber face.

    Recent Projects
About two weeks ago, immediately after getting cut open, I picked up a relatively quick painting commision that was due this past friday. It was for a show produced by Piccolo Theatre in Evanston. Here are pictures of the process:

That was the sketch I submitted to the client, for approval. It was going to be 6x8 ft.

Luckily, a couple months ago, I purloined a piece of green canvas exactly that size, at an abandoned/rundown mall, at 95th and western.(along with a 3 ft. icecream cone, a wheelchair, a 12 ft. steel radio tower, a box of small boxes, and two blue batman boxes)

The green canvas had to be gessod so I could paint on it, so while that was going on, I photographed a model and a toy horse, and used a headshot of one of the actors in the show, and made this mockup:

After the gesso was dry, I took the canvas and my laptop, and went down to my brother's computer lab and used his lcd projector, projected the image on the canvas, and sketched it out in pencil. I took it back to my parents backyard, and spent the next week and a half slowly(i did just have surgery) filling in the image.

Now obviously there's not a lot of detail, but it was supposed to be seen from far away, hung off the Metra platform at Main St. in Evanston, for Custer Fair:

Tagged like a cow. Feel kinda like one with this tongue.
"Bloggers must post these rules and provide eight random facts about themselves. In the post, the tagged blogger tags eight other bloggers and notify them that they have been tagged."

    1. I had surgery on monday

    2. I used to watch sesame street with a piece of plastic covering the screen, half red half green. while wearing glasses that were the opposite colors. supposedly to help my eyes or something.

    3. I have a congenitally incomplete sternum, which makes a dip in my chest, which, when I was 7 or 8, I used to keep things in to snack on. like goldfish crackers.

    4. I have always found it easier to carry things straight over my head, with my arm fully extended, like I'm wading across a river with a rifle.

    5. Have taken part in winning these awards: Best Picture-Lake Arrowhead Film Festival, two Telly Awards for Commercial Excellence, a Parents Choice Award, and the award for most likely to look like me at age now.

    6. in highschool, I had detention twice. Once on the very first day of freshman year, for leaving the lunchroom within the last ten minutes of the period, And once the monday after Prom Weekend, for coming in late because I took my date back to the airport. Never mind the fact that most of my friends just didn't come in at all, and spent the day running around some island in wisconsin shooting frenchfries at eachother with hairspray and toiletpaper tubes.

    7. I will crack up, without fail, at any mention of bees. Dangerous though they may be, Bees are the funniest thing on earth. Also, unexpected one syllable rhymes. For instance, yesterday, while dusting,(he's retired, and his days are filled with cleaning,) my dad encountered an insect on the windowsill, and said, without notice, "Ug. A bug." Not funny to many, most likely. I very nearly burst my stitches open.

    8. When I was 8 years old, I asked my mother to make me a doll of myself. She did, and I named him Bezeus.

    I guess I have to tag others now. let's see... in the interest of trying to double-tag as few as possible, I'll choose [info]fatwetdog, [info]duosiceprincess, [info]drummerchica3, [info]cutedyke, [info]the_jet_set, [info]bradwinkle, [info]bloodybladez, and [info]shaxpur

RARE POST! IN SHOW! COME SEE!
An actual post about something that is actually happening!

For the past several weeks, I have been building puppets and props and costumes for Midnight Madness' shadowcast of Little Shop Of Horrors, including a tiny Audrey II, a small Audrey II, a slightly bigger Audrey II, a sweatervest/shirt combo for Seymour, a plaid sooooot jacket, a fake axe, and oh I forgot to tell you I GET TO BE IN IT!

I will be playing Audrey II for two scenes, Grow For Me and the Radio Station WSKID.

The way shadowcasting works is, the movie theater shows the movie on the screen, and then silently in front of the screen, on the floor not getting in the way of you watching the movie, is a troupe of people acting out the movie. with screen acurate props and plants and costumes.

It's at midnight, but they really need people to come, and it's one of my favorite movies, and probably some of my coolest puppet building work (cable driven mechanisms and latex galore) so please come! please!

    Here's the ad for it.
