Some photos from the Dances of Vice Fest [28 Aug 2008|12:07am]
Here are a few runway shots of my Fashion show for my lines Azrael's Accomplice and AZAC Designs @ the Dances of Vice Festival last weekend in NYC (www.dancesofvice.com). I was interviewed and filmed by MTV news as well for their steampunk special, even though my designs are not strictly in that style, but look for that on MTV soon.

If you are going to badmouth my company try saying something that doesn't make me sound good [26 Aug 2008|03:15pm]
I was browsing the net and one of my friends passed on this review of the fashion show my clothing line Azrael's Accomplice showed in at the Dances of Vice Festival in NYC this weekend by an one of those odd long time bored haters that still like to try and bad mouth me. It's one of the most ignorant slams I have read to date and it succeeds in doing nothing but making me look good.

The review read as such:

"here is an interesting tidbit..one of the designers, (insert degrading personal comment about my past here that I will not repeat because it's not relevant to my business or talent)..actually *hired* models and a makeup person for her show. I was in the bathroom and overheard the models talking. Normal chicks talking about how they thought this was a very pretty and intersting thing, us goths. lol.
Guess she wanted top notch size 0 models for her show. Yeeeah."

This is the best supposed slam I have ever heard. If hiring top notch models and a professional hair and make-up person for a fashion show is supposed to be an insult I hope to have many more such insults.

Oh no's guys!!!!! I was professional and did what every real designer always does for a show. What am I supposed to hire a bunch of friends from the goth scene who probably don't fit standard runway sizing (which all my clothing is made in because I do shows for both alternative and non alternative fashions) and don't have modeling experience and tell my models to do thier own hair and make-up for my shows and look UN-PROFESSIONAL just to please the gothic crowd? Last time I checked (and my goth card does go way back let me remind you) the gothic crowd appreciates time and effort put into something, and would not be offended by a well produced show, which in fact featured some well known *gasp* gothic models. But you know, that's just how I do things...and if someone doesn't like it, well that's just too bad.

It's seriously cracking me up so much I had to share :)

Clothing Sample Clearance Sale Part 1 [18 Aug 2008|07:10pm]
On August 20-24th I am heading to NYC with my Azeael's Accomplice and AZAC Couture clothing lines to do a fashion show. That is the last show I will be showing the older pieces from my past collections in as we are ready to move forward with new pieces. All the samples will be sold after that. I have had a lot of interest shown in buying some of these samples so I thought I would go ahead and post the direct sale, remember these items cannot be shipped until after august 25th. Items have all been worn in fashion shows and photo shoots and will be worn in this last NYC show on the 24th. They are all in good wearable condition and do not show any major signs of wear and tear (they will be well taken care of at this last show as well so I don't expect that condition to change, will update you of course if for the off chance a piece is damaged).

Here are the items that are to be sold along with the pricing and info. I take PAYPAL only. I will possibly take a payment plan on some items, don't be afraid to ask, would rather have full payment at once but I understand that's not always possible and want to move these gowns ASAP. I will ship worldwide. Shipping cost in the US and worldwide is listed by each item. Email Batty@io.com to claim a item or just message me here.

ebay new power seller rules=crap [13 Aug 2008|10:11am]
I've been a power seller with ebay for two years now and due to the new must have a 4.5 star rating in all areas of service policy, they have taken my power seller status away. Why? Because my shipping speed rating is a 4.25 out of 5 instead of the 4.50 out of five which is no required. Why is this rated lower? Well it's because I am a one women owned show with longer ship times so my shipping rating is always a bit lower than people who have the items on hand and can ship the next day. Just a couple customers ratings who got their items in 6 weeks on an item with an alloted 3-6 week wait time and didn't feel like they got it fast enough (even though they left positive feedback) pulled my perfect shipping rating down enough for me to get up today and see my power seller status gone.Did I even get a notice or a warning, nope of course not. I have been hating ebay since all the new changes and now I hate them even more. I wish someone would make a better place for us to sell that generated the same revenue, but I don't see that happening.

Spiral boning= puke [05 Aug 2008|12:31pm]
Damn how I wish people would just get over the idea that spiral steel boning is the answer to any curvy waist seam or ill fitting problems on a corset. Spiral boning= the suck (in my opinion) and if you can't fit a proper corset with all flats then you can't fit a proper corset, spiral boning will not save the day everytime I assure you. I understand some people just prefer them, which is fine, but it doesn't make you a crap corset maker if you don't use them. I am so sick of hearing them preached about on all the corset sites and groups I am on. I only use those suckers for bust seams at most or insanely weird shaped curves on things such as 18th century corsets or when someone just flat out requests them. Flat steels (sping steel) I have found are the far superior (what curvy girl wants a corset that HIGHLIGHTS belly pooch like spirals do in my opinion) and I have been making corsets with them for over 10 years with no major problems.

Club Terminology Explained [04 Aug 2008|03:23pm]
How to understand club flyer terminology, as posted to a lj group I am on (I didn't write this but it's hilarious and TRUE):

"All ages" = as if telling someone's age in zombie inspired make up and near dark conditions weren't difficult enough already

"All night long" = or until 2 a.m.

when the city's bar closing ordinance kicks in, which ever comes first

"Blisspop" = we made up this genre just to see if you were paying attention to our flyer

"Costume Contest" = be prepared to hear at least three different DJs spin "Everyday is Halloween" and claim they didn't hear it when the other DJs played it

"Dark Alternative" = we have no idea what to call half the songs we're going to play tonight

"Dark/Fetish attire encouraged" = if you pretend to be a goth, we'll pretend to play goth music

"Darkwave" = we think this is somehow related to goth

"Deathrock" (when placed last on the list of music genres) = we'll play that song by the Virgin Prunes, but you have to listen to 3 hrs. of VNV Nation before we get to it

"Deathrock" (when placed first on the list of music genres) = we'll play two Rozz-era Christian Death songs in a row at some point during the evening

"Deathrock/Psychobilly/Horror Punk" = we hope you like songs about zombies, dead girlfriends and spooky things in the woods enough to listen to 4 hours of them

"Deathrock/Punk/Old School Goth" = we firmly believe the only music worth listening to was recorded between 1977 and 1983

"Deathrock/EBM" = never draw up a flyer when you're high on crack

"Deathrock/Metal" - never draw up a flyer when you've doing crystal meth for 5 days straight either

"Dress code is black" = the people who come here don't know enough about Goth to know what to wear so we have to remind them

"Dress to impress" = the court order regarding cameras in the Club was lifted after the lawsuit was settled out of court

"EBM" = like techno, but with less musical ability and more glow sticks.

"80's" = we hope you like "Karma Chameleon" a lot because we have 13 different versions of it

"Electro" = *beep* music

"Enjoy our drink specials" = our landlord turned off the air conditioning so it gets really hot in here

"Ethereal" = we own the entire Cocteau Twins back catalog

"Experimental" = Synth-punk performed by people don't know how to play an instrument, but it sounds classier if we call it "Experimental"

"Fetish wear encouraged" = lots of *oontz oontz* music, latex club wear, and a some guy running around with a whip

"$5 cover before 10 p.m." = the cops never show up to raid the place before 11 p.m.

"Free give aways" = we still have lots of "Saw II" and "the Hills Have Eyes" posters left from last year's give away

"Full Bar" = our bar is twice as big as the dance floor

"Futurepop" = music not good enough to be classified as "EBM"

"Glam" = in case you thought deathhawks, ripped t-shirts and torn fishnets were too modest of a fashion statement

"Go Go Girls" = our music will sound better if you're staring at a half naked chick

"Goth" = our DJ knows who Peter Murphy is

"Gothic Industrial" = lots of *oontz oontz* music, latex club wear, and some girl with big, poofy pigtails running around with a couple of glow sticks

"Harsh EBM" = when regular EBM isn't awful enough

"Impressive selection of beer" = just in case anyone ever comes to a Goth club to be impressed by the beer, we've got you covered

"Industrial Decadence" = overweight EBM chicks in midriff baring fetishwear

"Just off the freeway" = we're located next to the abandoned medical waste disposal plant in a section of town not patrolled by police

"Legendary" = selling my soul for a steady club night 23 yrs. ago seemed like such a good idea at the time...

"Live Bands" = real musicians aren't embarrassed to be seen in our club with our patrons

"Mash Ups" = someone got a Mac with Garage Band for their birthday, but can't figure out how to use it

"New Romantic" = Adam Ant, Duran Duran and, ahhh, ummm, errr.... more Adam Ant and Duran Duran

"Neofolk" = Der Furher's music, unplugged

"No Cover Charge" = our venue is a classic dive bar with a decent sound system

"Nu Wave" = I'm 2 lazy to spel check my flyerz be4 I hand them oot

"Old School Punk" = we specialize in mohawks and mosh pits

"Old School" (genre unspecified) = we bought a crate of vinyl at a garage sale

"Our DJ brings you the best in..." = our DJ will spin whatever his girlfriend left him after they split up

"Old School Goth" = our DJ's roommate went to school with Peter Murphy

"Plenty of available parking" = the neighborhood is so bad that no one is else is willing to park on the streets here

"Powernoise" = we play music so obnoxious that even the rivetheads will complain

"REAL Alternative" = our DJ interned at KROQ

"Remixes" = someone got a Mac with Garage Band for their birthday and figured out how to use it

"Remodeled" = they painted the walls after they were closed down for health code violations

"Request Night" = we got off work late and didn't have time to come up with a proper setlist

"Retro" = Our DJ found a bunch of 80's comps at a second hand store and most of them aren't too badly scratched

"Smoking Patio" = forget about sneaking in through the back exit

"Two dance rooms" = our Gothic Industrial club plays both kinds of music, gothic and industrial

"Underground" = our DJ really likes She Wants Revenge

"Indie" = Our DJ eventually got burned out on She Wants Revenge and is now on an Interpol kick

"Vampire" or "Vampiric" = douchebag or douchebagic

"Vendors" = we have a girl selling bat-themed jewelry and spiderweb necklaces at a table next to the dance floor

"VIP Lounge" = in case the people on the dance floor weren't pretentious enough for you

"We spin vinyl" = our DJs are damn good!

"With a little booty hip hop to mix it up" = no matter how drunk you get, you're going to regret coming here for years to come

"WiFi" = because the only thing geekier than dancing at a Goth club is surfing the web at a Goth club

Custom Corset Commissions Sale [31 Jul 2008|01:53pm]
Holiday season is already drawing near again, and this one is going to be a busy one for Azrael's Accomplice Designs as I am doing a lot of traveling and marketing. This also means we will be needing lots of extra funds. Therefor I have decided to take on some custom corset commissions to make some extra money for the upcoming busy season. I have access to some nice unique materials we do not usually offer our corsets made out of, so this is your chance to get something from us that is not currently offered in our catalog at a nice sale price.

The two styles I am offering customized are:

1) Our Hourglass Underbust corset:
http://www.azacdesign.com/items/custom-corsets/custom-underbust-hourglab-corset-lots-of-material-options-cubhgcorset-detail.htm

and

2) Our Overbust Hourglass Corset:
http://www.azacdesign.com/items/custom-corsets/custom-sized-overbust-hourglass-corset-csohc-detail.htm

The above links are JUST to show you the style of the corset, the corsets we are taking comissions on will be available in your choice of the following materials (choose one, or mix two or even three), linked under a cut because there are a TON of images:

material choices here )

All of our corsets for this sale will be made with heavy cotton duck lining, interlined (flatlined with a medium weight cotton), have waist tape, steel boning (a mix of 1/4 1/2 flat steels and spiral steels), back flaps, and bi-directional back lacing and can be used for tightlacing. If you need it for heavy waist training please let us know, we can extra reinforce.

The base sale price for a fully CUSTOM SIZED corset is:
Hourglass Underbust in one material: $170.00
Hourglass Overbust in one material: $200.00

Yes you can have the corset made with more than one material from the choices above, feel free to mix and match, for a small added fee. I will be glad to work with you on a customized unique corset of your choice. I will even be glad to make minor tweaks to the shape of the corsets the price point will change a bit the more you want to customize the corset of course. Ship time will be a bit longer than usual due to the fact it's our busy season so expect wait times of 5-9 weeks for most corset commissions from this sale.

New bridal/prom/evening design [29 Jul 2008|06:36pm]

We are happy to announce a new afforable priced wedding/formal gown design available custom sized and standard sized in a variety of color options. We are also selling the sample of this gown you see in the photos below read on for more info.

The gown is made of stretch satin and lined with stretch lining, it has poly boning for shape and support on all the seams and down the middle front, it has a very full lightweight tulle skirt, duble layered with tulle (15-20 yards of tulle in each layer), it is inspired by old ballerina paintings of artists such as Degas:

Example of inspiration paintings:
http://image46.webshots.com/47/7/4/48/2350704480045831199dOOKED_fs.jpg

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/28/60466161_6402e8ea69.jpg?v=0

We've actually had this sample for sometime now and have been debating offering it on our catalogs, so here is our sample, it's made of ivory stretch satin and ivory and blue tulle lined with blue poly satin lining. It is trimmed all around the low waistline with blue and ivory roses and also at the place where the straps attach. The straps are made from double rows of delicate satin ribbon. It zips closed up the back. The gown sits about two inches below your waistline giving a nice long lean corseted shape and since it's made of stretch satin and stretch lining it will allow for weight gain and loss and fit a variety of sizes. Shown here over a small bridal petticoat (hoopless), it can be worn on it's own for an almost identical fullness, or with a petticoat, or even with a bridal hoop for extra fullness. We will be offering the gown for $345.00 in standard small, medium, large, and xl, and for $380.00 custom sized. It will be available in many color combos just an example of a few are Ivory/Blue (shown), Ivory/Burgundy, all white, all black Black/Purple, and Black/White. It will be offered on both AZAC Designs and the Azrael's Accomplice Website as it's sort of a cross-over style. What do you guys think?

more photos here )

The sample as pictured above is for sale, it's actually a few years old, but is in good condition and has been worn only for a few fashion shows and a photoshoot earlier this year. It will fit natural busts of 35-38, natural waists of 27-29, and natural hips of 35-38. I will take $250.00 or the best offer for it, paypal only, please email if interested at batty@io.com.

Why don't you just try keeping your fat ass away from McDonald's? [22 Jul 2008|01:58pm]
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121668254978871827.html?mod=yhoofront

Yeah, Let's ban fast food in cities full of too many lard-asses. I swear our country is a bunch of whining pussies sometimes who don't address the real issue, that no one has any willpower anymore. Due largely to the fact that we don't make them, everyone is babied, everything is some new health problem, everyone solves everyone else's problems for them. YADDA YADDA. I don't blame anything but myself for any vice I have, be it being over weight, drinking, partying etc. Keeping a crack addict away from crack doesn't mean he won't travel to find it and it doesn't mean you have addressed the real issue with the mind and the addiction and the lack of willpower and self esteem. Go ahead hurt the businesses by taking away the right to build in area with overweight people, I guarantee you you will result in seeing a line around the block in the next closest town that allows those restaurants in. Sometimes it's looking more and more like a BIG BROTHER future in our country. I'd perfer to blame myself for any weight I might gain from fast food eating (which come on we all know isn't good for you, don't pretend you don't) and still have the right to shove a Big Mac, a Bean Burrito, or a Whopper down my face than have some government official tell me I can't or exactly where I am allowed to do it.

How not to get a modeling job [25 Jun 2008|11:47am]
When you want to model for a designer and respond to a casting call please read the casting call 1st and make sure you fit the requirements! Nothing will get me to throw your portfolio in the "never use" bin quicker than totally ignoring my casting rules when I obviously can't use you and you waste my time.

Example on how NOT to impress a designer/casting director

My last fashion show casting requirements:

Sizes 2-8
Busts of 32-35, waists of 24-27, hips of 32-36
5'5 or taller
Cup sizes of A-D
Being able to pull off Ethereal and Period Looks a plus
Contact me with portfolio/pictures to make the list for my live casting call

Examples of replies I got:

"Hi I am 5'1 36DD, 31, 42"

"Hi I am a size 12, 38-32-41, experience in swimsuit, lingerie, and adult modeling"

There was at least 20 replies with stuff like the above example, along with pictures featuring models posing in there own messy rooms with crap on the floor, faces with no make-up zits and dark undereye circles shot on webcams, and people splayed out half naked on hotel beds in cheap lingerie.

And the BEST were the girls who informed me they were showing up to my live casting call even though I did not invite them.

Um if your name doesn't make the list you are not getting in to one of my castings.

DUH.

Corset and Corset Bustle Gown Sale due to Fabric Clearance [23 Jun 2008|03:34pm]
We've got to clear out the excess fabric from the Azrael's Accomplice Sewing Studio, therefor we are bringing two corsets and one corseted gown to you at a very low sale cost.

1st We have a overstock of black with pink polka dotted cotton. We really need to clear out one of our older extra bolts as the bolt we are using to make corsets out of this now is of a heavier weight and a bit different dye lot. Material can be seen here:
http://www.azacdesign.com/images/IMG_4936.jpg

So we are offering a handful of the following two corset styles custom sized out of this material:

#1) The Polka Dot Party Corset
as descrbed on our website here:
http://www.azacdesign.com/items/ready-to-wear-corsets/polka-dot-party-corset-pdpcorset-detail.htm
Custom sized price out of pink polka dot material $110.00

#2) Our underbust hourglass style/with front busk as shown here:
http://www.azacdesign.com/items/ready-to-wear-corsets/hourglass-underbust-hgub-detail.htm
Custom sized price out of the pink polka dot material: $125.00

2nd we have a overstock of black, white, purple, and red cotton medium weight broadcloth
Best way for us to get rid of this in large amounts is to make a gown out of it.

So we are offering our modern corseted bustle gown as seen here, but out of the cotton broadcloth instead:
http://www.azacdesign.com/items/clothing/custom-special-order-clothing/modern-corseted-bustle-gown-mbg-detail.htm
Price made of cotton is $325.00, custom sized
We've made this gown out of cotton before and it looks totally fine, and hangs quite well.

Message me here or at batty@io.com to claim a gown or corset. I'd be glad to email you swatch photos for the broadcloth just let me know what color you'd like to see.

PAYPAL ONLY.

I'll make as many of these as it takes till the fabric runs out. Probably have enough polka dots to make 6-8 corsets and enough broadcloth to make about 2 gowns of each color.

Here is the direct link to the gown's info page:

http://www.azacdesign.com/items/clothing/custom-special-order-clothing/custom-countess-18th-century-gown-ccg-detail.htm

While the gowns are not 100% historically accurate they are directly taken from old 18th century patterns and updated for modern wear-ability.
