Open Sesame [11 May 2008|03:21am]
I've lived in my basement apartment for 2.5 years. I've never had the windows open because I thought they were stuck because I've never been able to open them.

They are the swing open type of old windows that you have to hook from the ceiling to stay open.

Today I was sick of not having fresh air. I can't even leave the back door open because the kitties might escape. So, I got those darn windows open.

I went outside and kicked at everything until I got two of the windows open. I got the screens in and the windows all vacuumed out. Yay.

Bella and Zoe (the kitties) love it. They stay up in the window staring at everything. When I come up to talk to them they roll around with happiness. That makes my heart happy.

I love the fresh air.

Lucky us ... WE DO GET A HALF DAY OFF b/c the electricity will be shut off at noon for maintenance. Yay!!

I've got to get the apartment cleaned up for the arrival of Stephen and Pam.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I GET TO SEE THE B-52'S TONIGHT!!!!

A bed time story... [29 Apr 2008|11:30pm]
Once upon a time (last fall), I only had 2 classes...

And, I worked 40 hrs/week...

Which made for a lot of downtime to read livejournal...

Then I took 4 classes (16 credit hours)...

And now 3 classes...

And cut down my hours at work...

And I never have time to read livejournal.

Yes, I've slacked off on reading livejournal again. But, my wonderful boyfriend bought me a wireless modem. So, now I can sit with my friend, the TV, when I get home from class AND get on my laptop. Yay!

Its Derby week. That doesn't really mean much to any of you, but its a HUGE deal here. Its all we Louisvillians talk and think about these days. I'm especially excited this year because Stephen and one of my best friends, Pammie, are coming this weekend to celebrate with me.

Friday we'll be seeing the B52's!!!!! I'm soooooo exicited. Then probably 4th Street and the Connections, the gay bar. The bars don't even close Friday night before the Derby.

Saturday I plan on us getting up early as possible. Make bets online for the horse races that day. The first race starts at 11am. Then start the Derby Day Pub Crawl that I have designed. Start from my apartment and head north on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. There are, at least, 11 bars in 1.1 miles. We'll start walking, hit the ones that are open and watch the races. Woo!

And that is all before 6pm!!!! It will be a long day! After that we'll probably be exhausted, but if not we'll see my friend that will be bartending.

I can't wait!!

Almost done with finals! [13 Mar 2008|08:58am]
Wow, not much substantial posting from me lately. School has been kicking my a**.

I'm SOOOO happy to be done with the quarter tonight. Tonight's final is in Statistics. After the final I'm going out to dinner at Makers Mark Restaurant with some girlfriends to celebrate. Yay!

This weekend I'm going to visit Stephen. I'll be staying until Tuesday. I haven't been to AL in a couple of months. I hope its nice. I'd like to get outdoors.

Next quarter I'm taking Intro to Marketing, Quantitative Methods, and Corporate Tax. I signed up for a double major in Accounting and Finance, so that should have me graduating June or Sept 2009. We'll see on the finance part, though. I haven't taken any of the upper level classes yet. Only the required ones for the Accting major.

Interactive Art [30 Jan 2008|11:16am]

You stand in front of a wall where all these letters are falling down and a camera puts your image on the wall with the letters. Then you can block the letters from falling and they spell out phrases. You can see me catching the letters on my arm. :D

I love this piece and always go and dance around and knock around letters when I'm there. Hehe!

Skiing [28 Jan 2008|11:10am]

My honey on the slopes...
Originally uploaded by bardiva

Skiing was soooooo much fun. Stephen and I took the lesson and both took to it very easily. We went down the bunny slope and few times and it was cake. We asked the ski lift guy which slope would be the step up from the bunny slope. He pointed over the hill. We were ready to go.

Stephen zoomed away and I tried to go slowly. Its much steeper than I anticipated, so I fall over on my butt to break my speed. I got up and tried again and made my way down to the next level area. I ski along and come to the last 1/4 of the trail AND HOLY FREAKIN COW IS IT STEEP!!! I mean, this was supposed to be the step up from the bunny slope? I was so scared to go down. I tried a couple of times and kept falling down on purpose b/c I was scared to go too fast and take a tumble.

I finally took off my skis and side stepped it down to the bottom of the hill. During this, Stephen passed me b/c he's already gone back up and come down looking for me.

I took the ski lift up and am scared off from the trails. That was really quite the jump from the bunny slope. It was even called the "Family Trail." WTH!? I spent the next hour or so just going up and down the bunny slope, but going as fast as I can and practicing my turning from side to side.

It was getting close to time to leave and I didn't want to go not having done that trail. So, I went for it. I did much better at the beginning. When I got to the bottom, I froze again. A girl stopped beside me and gave me some pointers, then skied off. I took her advice ... and I made it!!!! I was so happy (and drenched in sweat from anxiety, LOL).

We loved it so much we are talking about the possibility of going on a ski vacation. AND, I just found out that my Winter Intern Event is ... Skiing! Yay!

January Madness [24 Jan 2008|09:47am]
My gosh, work has seemed busy lately. Cutting down my hours, all these holidays, and end of year reports have really put me in a crunch. I'm working on a report that was due last Sunday. I'm pretty sure it won't be done today, and I'm off tomorrow, so it will be about a week and a half late. :T

I took tomorrow off to go on my school's quarterly event. I'm going skiing!! Yay. Stephen is coming to Louisville tonight b/c he's going with me. :D Its going to be so much fun.

Huntsville last weekend was good. Had dinner at Bonefish, drinks with friends at a pub with 120 beers, and saw 27 Dresses with D&G.

Off to crunch the numbers...
