When I think of Ron Paul, the word "pretender" comes to mind. He doesn't truly hold Republican views, yet he accepts their nomination and an elected position based on Republican votes. He's not really libertarian, yet that's what some people are calling him. Of course, he's abhorent to any independent thought or social conscience. So who is putting all these poor quality "vote Ron Paul" signs in people's front yards?
The signs themselves are deceptive. They try to make it look like a "grass roots" movement by using wooden, hand-painted or stenciled, when truly the cheapest, most efficient production of signs would use printing on plastic. A true grass roots organization would shop around for the lowest cost maker of plastic signs and have them printed by the thousands for a small investment. But, no, that wouldn't be good for Ron Paul's image.
He has no chance of being elected President and he knows it. He's a chameleon - Republican one day, libertarian the next, but self-promoter all the time. What's he really doing? Making himself famous. Making himself famous, positioning himself for a huge book tour, high-priced speaking engagements and lucrative corporate position. He's a pretender.
Richard Jewell, the man who saved numerous lives on the day of the Centennial Olympic Park bombing during the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, died today at the age of 44 years.
“OK, how come United States of Americans spell 'mitre' M I T R E but 'meter' M E T E R? And, if 'mitre' is M I T R E & 'meter' should be M E T R E, why isn't 'sober' spelled S O B R E? That's what I wanna know.”
Inspired by sugarimp, I'm going on a "TV fast" for a week, starting immediately. Will I be more social without TV? (I doubt it.) Will I exercise? Will I eat better? Will I record the results in my livejournal?
“OK, take number 73. This is a test post to try out that new cool automatic transposition thing for LiveJournal Posts & I'm using ogg vorbis now & I know that the auto transposition thing can't spell that, so I'm going to spell it for you, Mister You-Guy-That-Does-That-Automatic-Transition: ogg vorbis. OK, you got that?
Now, everyone else, I want you to hit reply & suggest some cool things for me to say on voice posts so that they can all be automatically transitioned by the auto transposition guy. All right, do that now. Go.”
It's not an action blockbuster or that The Simpsons movie we are all waiting for, but this is a powerful movie that deserves to be seen on the big screen. I wouldn't have even heard about it if a friend hadn't suggested it.
“I cannot tell any reasons why two true-minded people should not be married. Love is not love which changes when it finds a change in circumstances, or bends from its firm stand even when a lover is unfaithful. No, it is a lighthouse that sees storms but is never shaken; love is the guiding north star to every lost ship, whose value cannot be calculated, although its altitude can be measured. Love is not at the mercy of Time, even though physical beauty comes within the compass of Time's sickle. Love does not alter with hours and weeks, but, rather, it endures until the last day of life. If I am proved wrong about these thoughts on love, then I recant all that I have written, and no man has ever truly loved.”
