Fear...
I have to go to a funeral in the city this week. I've mapquested it, but it still freaks me out. I know NOTHING about city streets in New Orleans, at all, and I'm hella nervous.

It is going to be a traditional Black, Catholic service. Funeral at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on St. Bernard. Burial at St. Roch Cemetary on St. Roch. The repass (never heard that term until this week) is going to be at the African American Museum.

I've only been to two funerals in my lifetime, and I'm Protestant, White and from the north. This is going to be interesting. I plan on writing a small dissertation on my thoughts.

Wow.

Haha. I just spent 2 hours looking through old entries.
I was reading my old journal entries about when I worked at the geri-psych hell-hole (where I was making GOOD money). I had forgotten that some of that shit happened.

In fact, I forget a lot of things. I'm really starting to wonder if I don't have the early signs of Alzheimers or something. I don't know what it is, but sometimes i forget WORDS. Scary....

Anyway, not much is going on here. I have to work Wed, Thurs and Friday and then again on Sunday. My sister, Lisa, and her hubby and two of my nephews come down this Saturday. I'm really, REALLY looking forward to this. In fact, it's the ONLY thing I have coming up that I'm looking forward to.

I want to go out of town so bad. Vacation. None of that until October, though. Back to Illinois for Pike County Color Drive.

Anyway, ya'll leave me some love.

Ok, I'm nuts....or hormonal....or just hard up.
Ok. I'm in love with my DVR. One of my favorite things in the world is to DVR some of my favorite shows and settle down in my happy chair and watch. I can barely watch "normal" tv anymore, because I want to fast-forward through all of the commercials.

Anyway, I also love reality tv. Real life stuff. I've really gotten into the TruTV show called "Black Gold." I guess you can say that I love shows about REAL men, hard working guys (that's why I love Deadliest Catch...yum, Crosby!). I don't know what it is lately, but I want my men dirty and sweaty and working hard.

Ok, that's not just all, but I have this thing for one of the drillers on the show. He's totally NOT the type of guy I would ever typically be attracted to (except for his age....I like older men for some strange reason), but there is something about him that makes him so likeable (maybe he's nice, and not a jerk?!?!).

Be prepared.

Ya'll Wayne is so cute. OMG. Plus he curses WAY too much

(Someone let me know if you can see that pic)

(and, damnit, watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 still makes me want to have children)

One of those things...
You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their lives, and all of a sudden you think, "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers, putting yours in their places, and then post the result in your journal. Please elaborate on the questions which would benefit from elaboration! One-word-answers seldom help anyone out.

This guy is simply delicious...

I'm thinking bad, dirty thoughts about him right now.

They don't include pirate hats or guitars though...

Walking on Dead Fish
http://www.walkingondeadfish.com/film.htm

There is a movie coming out about my high school alma mater! It's a story about Hurricane Katrina and the football team. It was produced by Terry Bradshaw.

From the website....

"WALKING ON DEAD FISH is a heart-felt documentary about a small-town high school football team and its “DISPLACED PLAYERS” who are thrown together by the powerful winds and floods of Katrina. "

If it has cords, she will come...
My cat is a Sneak McSneak kitty!

She loves to get all up on me if I'm on the computer, ESPECIALLY if I have more cords out to upload pics and etc. She loves to get just.close.enough to sniff what I'm doing, or bat at the cords that are out.

...and the rest of the weekend.
After loads of fun on the Fourth, I thought that the rest of the weekend might be quiet. I'm SO glad it wasn't.

Saturday I slept in some and my high school friend Chateryl called me. Chateryl was a good friend to me in high school. She was a senior when I was a junior, and she presented my class ring to me in the ring ceremony when I was a junior. Anyway, she lives in Utah and came home to visit her parents, who live right down the street from me. She came to my house and we talked for 3 hours straight. When she was about to leave she said, "I don't want to leave you...how about we go and get pedicures together?" Awww...so sweet! I snapped this pic of us before we left (neither one of us were dressed up, had our hair fixed, or makeup on!)

Fourth of July
I so wanted a traditional 4th celebration this year. It has been years since I have had barbecue at someone's house, much less popped fireworks. Last year I was working at the psych facility on the detox unit on the 4th, and wore my patriotic scrub top and fireworks head bobbers. This year, I wanted to have some fun. That's exactly what we did.

I spent the day at my brother and sister-in-law's house after only taking an hour nap at my mom's after getting off of work. Kenny barbecued hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese brats and fried fresh trout and chicken wings. Mom made potato salad, homemade baked mac and cheese and desserts.

After we all ate, my best friend Jenny, her daughter Alex and Nancy (SIL) went and threw money away on fireworks. I spent $55 and Nancy spent over $100 (my brother doesn't know that!) OMG, fun!

Pics below...

Obligitory self-portraits

Me (it was in the 90's with humidity in the 90's...and I was tired!)

Me and Nance (obviously she had fresh makeup and cared what she looked like...ie. she wasn't left over from a 12 hour ICU shift...heh)

Ok...I'm skipping straight to the fireworks... )
