Given the various folks who read this, I know there are bound to be people who have good advice. Thus, the post. A friend of my mother's has just been diagnosed with gluten intolerance and she's having some difficulty finding things like bread and crackers that don't taste utterly poisonous! So, what suggestions do people have? Are there any brands that taste decent? Many thanks - and virtual chocolate and flowers for any help :)

Gacked from weirdwebWhen you see this, post another Buffy quote in your LJ. Let's see how long this can go on."I've got a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches, which is ridiculous cos witches they were persecuted, Wicca good and love the earth and women power, and I'll be over here!"

Ten years ago, almost to the day, I had just completed my first year as a university student. Since I know a lot of the folks reading this journal are Pterry fans, can anyone point me in the direction of any of the following: 1) A list of all the Discworld books staring the Watch and Sam Vimes in particular, preferably listed in order (but since I've dipped in and out of Discworld, I'm not sure chronology is necessarily THAT important!) 2) Any really good Sam Vimes/Watch based fanfic - particularly anything that plays with the events of Night Watch Muchly thanks :)

Well. Long time - ok, very long time - and no post. Life's been busy. As in crazybusyohmygodmadpanicargh busy. If anyone's remotely interested, there's a post over on my JF account to bring you up to date. That, though, is not the reason for me putting fingers to keyboard here. Nope. What this is is going to be a little bit of an experiment. In the interests of both getting myself writing and stretching what I write beyond the safe little boundaries I've put around my fiction, I'm going to give some non-fiction/essay stuff a try. So... Memories Are Made of This Funny thing, memory. It can let you remember things with amazing clarity and yet other things that might be closely related get wiped from your mind in an instant. A case in point would be last Wednesday, when I went to my fifth Bon Jovi concert. ( Read more... )These are likely to roll around roughly once a week; might be a bit more often if I get particularly inspired. Equally, I'm open to requests (which, natch, does include requests for me to stop!), if there's a topic you want to know my views on - though I would say that I may or may not touch political and religious topics. mood: amused |

As I'm extremely unlikely to add another complete book to this list, here 'tis... ( What I Did Read )All in all, a pretty varied selection - and *ALMOST* a "book" a day, which is not bad going, considering I only tend to read for an hour (while in the bath!) during the week. Well, there's still a few quotes going, so I've added some extra lines to see if that jogs a few memories (there's one on here that I'm utterly shocked no-one on my flist's got - all things considered!)... 1. We're having a friend for dinner. What goes well with rat? Red or white? Additional: A. I am the end of time! B. You're history! antigone_ks2. I'm gonna need a saw and a bag. Additional: So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie? 4. A. Litchfield! I told you it began with L! B. And if I know [censored] it'll end in 'ell, too. Additional: You devious drab! 10. A. So it's either this or you can run buck naked. B. Well, thank you. Additional: It's not guns that kill people - it's these little hard things!

I've had such fun doing everyone else's that I thought it was about time to do my own. So here it is. Usual drill - name the show and the speaker(s). 1. We're having a friend for dinner. What goes well with rat? Red or white? 2. I'm gonna need a saw and a bag. 3. Good cop and bad cop have left for the day. I'm a different kind of cop. antigone_ks4. A. Litchfield! I told you it began with L! B. And if I know [censored] it'll end in 'ell, too. 5. No! [censored]! You can't possibly repel something that big. freespirit1276. I have just one thing to say to you: MacBeth! donna_k7. Is there anyone in Rome who hasn't slept with my daughter? aspartaimee8. That might be the most important thing to understand about Humans. It's the unknown that defines our existence. We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. germankitty9. The claim 'I was only following orders' has been used to justify too many tragedies in our history. auntie_pat10. A. So it's either this or you can run buck naked. B. Well, thank you. Have at! mood: evil |

Well, like so many other folks, I thought I'd start keeping a track of what I read and when and, more to the point, making a real effort to actually pick up a book and read - something I haven't been doing a lot of in the last few years (unless you count repeatedly re-reading the same fifteen CS/SW:RS books!). This particular list actually runs from Dec. 25th, rather than the 1st of Jan, just to be tidy. ( What I Did Read )Also, a question for those of you who've been doing this a while: Do you think my assorted OU essays should count as part of my reading list, or does reading done for academic purposes not count? mood: accomplished |

I've just spent the last hour arranging, rearranging and generally tweaking my handbaggage in preparation for departure tomorrow (yes, Athersgeo is going on vacation again!). I know there are various Fry and Laurie fans on my flist, so here we go: I have the two Jeeves & Wooster DVDs that were given away with the Daily and Sunday Telegraph over the summer. They contain two episodes from the ITV/Granada Jeeves & Wooster from the early 1990s, specifically: "In Court After the Boat Race" - series 1, episode 1 - and "Will Anatole Return to Brinkley Court?" - series 1, episode 5.
If you want them, let me know, otherwise they're heading off to the local charity shop!Gone!
