December 7, 2005 is the 10th birthday of the biggest fan site for Sean Bean - The Compleat Sean Bean. The lovely and talented Winona Kent started the indispensible web site that we all depend on for everything Sean Bean 10 years ago. Thank you, Nona! And thank you all people who help the site. We are lost without you!

Well, actually these are the pics from Movie Star January 2006 issue.:)
And some excerpt from the interview.(by Jenny Ewart) As always, please allow my clumsy translation.
(He wears jeans, navy blue jacket and boots. Scruffy hair and bearded.)
Q: Did you prepared for your role of a pilot in Flightplan?
Sean: Well yeah. I think I learned how to fly.(laugh) What's the most usefull thing was meeting real pilots in person. Veterans. Seeing their way of speaking and behaving, I figured out how they would act if they were in my situation of this movie. I thought it's important to get the manner or caracter as a pilot. I experienced the flight simulation of the crash moment and researched as much as I could befor shooting. However it would take years if you take a real training, so in fact, I saw them doing small things like opening doors or making phone calls and imitated them.(laugh)
Q: Why did you choose this project?
Sean: When I was having breakfast with Robert(Schwentke) at the Four Seasons Hotel in L.A. a half year before shooting, he asked "Won't you do a pilot?". And I said "Sure, I will."
Q: You are dealing with Jodie who's freaked out, are you good at dealing with histeric woman in your private life?
Sean: A-ha-ha, I think so.(laugh)
Q: Have you ever met such an emergency?
Sean: I was panicked when my child was missing. Missing your child is really rather big shock. It's impact is like a hammer dropping on your chest. So I can understand Kyle's feeling very well. And the pilot I play has children too, so he can sympathize her. Every parent has an experience of their child missing or going somewhere when they look aside, I think, that's the worst feeling.
Q: Are you all right with flying?
Sean: I'm all right now. I was in huge fear of airplanes. I was too nervous before flying so I had to have several drinks before boarding. And evertime I hear something weird I call a stewardes and ask "What was that?!"...(laugh). I was really frightend to fly. I flied hear and there for the Lord of the Rings, so maybe I go used to it. Most works were in Los Angeles too. Well, I got over my fear in these years, that's it. I don't care much for flying still now though.
Q: North Country was just released, right?
Sean: Yes, that was the most brilliant experience. Shooting was held around the mine in Virginia and Minesota, and the casts were great. The director Niki Caro and Charlize Theron, Sissy Spacek, Woody Harrelson...I realy enjoyed to work with them. I played an American in this movie. He's more sensitive than other miners. He respects women and knows to deal with them equally. And he is very self confident. Soulfull and spiritual kind guy.
Q: What is your favorite role of your life?
Sean: Sharpe. I played him for five years and that's because I decided to do it again. And of course Boromir of the Lord of the Rings. I made lots of friends and it was really fun during the shooting.
Q: Are you still keeping in touch with co-stars?
Sean: Yeah, sometimes we run into each other at the screenings and parties. I met Viggo at the after party for A History of Violence and we had some drinks together. It's a fun that I see them here and there around the world. I often met Orlando in New York and Los Angeles, as well as Ian McKellen and Billy Boyd. It's really special that the friendship from the movie is still going on.
Q: For what do you spend money usually?
Sean: Ummm, I like to buy clothes and shoes. Oh well, sometime ago I had a very nice Range Rover but it was stollen. So I bought another one recently but I'm considering to sell it already. Wherever I go, I always walk, so I don't feel the necessity of the car. I wonder if I buy a bicycle.
Q: Which designer do you prefer?
Sean: I like Hugo Boss. And Dunhill, Armani...but I feel Boss suits me better.
Q: How are you like as a father of your children? Stern or indulgent?
Sean: Well, I don't know. I bought her a car the other day. She hasn't had a driver license yet...too indulgent?(laugh) But she said "If I'm used to the car I would be able to pass the driving test easily." However they all have grown up soundly. Very bright and taking care of various things. Gentle and more than happy. It's the most important thing, isn't it?
Q: Are they interested in acting too?
Sean: Not much. The eldest loves music and now she's going to the Westminster Musical College. The middle is 14 and it seems she doesn't know what she wants to do. And the youngest is 6. She's still a little baby. |

My pleasure Pfyre,(brush)
Your applause means lot to me since you've been working so hard and so well. Thank you too!
Wow-thanks so much for this, Shoh!
You're always welcome.:) We are happy to have such a great fan site.
I enjoyed reading it from my heart, but, to be honest, I can't stop feeling a bit strange to read MOVIE STAR article in English! lol Anyway it's a kind of good exercise for me, thank you for working on translating them.
Oh dear! I guess the original answers were metamorphosed a lot. From English to Japanese and then to my clumsy English. The idea of translation for the CSB birthday struck me suddenly and I did it in a rush to post it by the end of December 7(in Japanese time). It was like a kind of Cinderella! Well, at least it's my excuse.LOL

Thank you for posting these- I love reading any new articles, and it's great to get translations! Thank you for all your hard work! I found my way here via the Buffs, and that great article from Blade that you posted there. I was going to post at least a part of it on Bean Uncensored - telling where it came from, naturally! (I loved the bit about Sean wearing his soccer t-shirt beneath his other 'normal' clothes! It reminded me of Viggo, of course.) But I see you are a member of Bean Uncensored, so perhaps you are planning to post something about this? I hope you do! Thanks again.
Hi frivol,
I was somehow thinking that all Sean fans belong to the Bean Buffs.LOL Of course not. I've just posted the links on Bean Uncensored. Thank you for your kind suggestion!

Yeah, I really love that. Was he a kind of guy who does such mischieavous things before he met Viggo? I don't think so!

Thanks for that...I am already a member of yahoo so have signed up
Aww bless! It's interviews like these that make me like him even more. He seems so level-headed that you'd almost forget he's an actor.
And the beard? He makes me wanna shag him even more.
I didn't like a man with beard in my pre-Sean period.:) And I didn't like a man who smokes either.(I still do except Sean and Viggo) He changed everything of my life!
I know tell me about it. I never liked those kind of guys too. But somehow these days I've started to like men like him. He's the epitome of a man and such charisma makes him even more like-able.
