...out of the corner of your eye you see a baby stroller coming towards you and think it's a Dalek.
i kid you not. first reaction to "large object moving towards me" was "OMG DALEK!"
in other news, i want to go geocaching.
I bought one of those packs of Archway cookies. After I opened it, I placed them in a plastic baggie to ensure freshness. After eating 4 and then feeling ill I decided to throw them away.
ATHANATA AND THE MYSTERY OF THE TRASH COOKIES
Take in mind, my detective friends, the following items.
ITEM A: I took out the trash last night at 11pm. The trash was picked up around 7 AM.
ITEM B: On top of the cookies (in the trash), was a plastic bag full of cat litter.
I awoke this morning to find the trash removed, but lying in my driveway were:
1. An EMPTY plastic baggie FORMERLY containing Archway Cookies. The cookies had been carefully removed from the original archway packaging (still retained within the plastic baggie. There was no sign of struggle/ripping of cookie container.
2. An avocado pit, lying around one foot away
3. Emptied trash bin.
This leads me to three possible conclusions:
I. The Garbagemen ate my trash cookies. Avocado pit thrown in spite.
Rank: Low - The bag was tied. Why would they open it up, remove the cat litter, then eat my cookies and toss them on my driveway
II. A Raccoon ate my trash cookies. Avocado pit thrown in joy.
Rank: Low - the cookies were too carefully removed from the pack - there was no other trash on the ground.
III. A transient/crazy person/gutter punk/scavenger ate my trash cookies. Avocado pit thrown in victory.
Rank: Middle, but still unlikely. I live in a lower middle class enclave in a fairly rural area. Most people here are in law enforcement and 99% of neighborhood is families with children. The person would have to be pretty hungry to brave the cat litter.
What do YOU think?
Note: For visual learners, I have created the following diagram:
1. Went and picked up a bed for the guestroom.
I now have a fully operational guestroom! Chez Athanata is conveniently located less then an hour away from Theme Parks, The Kennedy Space Center, and the beaches (Cocoa and Daytona)
Consider a visit to the Chez Athanata Guestroom on your next trip. The room has a ninja theme (of course!) :)
2. Drove up to Daytona Beach to pick up three kitties for DriveForLife - they were coming from a shelter in New Jersey. I drove them back to Orlando where they were picked up for there next leg - Orlando-->Tampa. Precious, Dopey, and Plopper calmed right down as soon as I put on some music. They are apparently Portishead aficionados :)
just watched the dr. who season 2 finale.
need hugs.
and tissues.
Wow - this is amazing -- turn all your lj entries (including comments, images, etc.) into one huge .pdf document.

I just did mine. 2002-2008 topped out at over 1500 pages. I don't think I'll print it out - but I will save copies in various places - my very own electronic interactive diary for posterity...
Apparently the Great Cats Sanctuary in Indiana is not legitimate - and is under investigation by the USDA. I remember hearing about it and thinking it sounded neat - and I think a couple Bloomington LJ-Readers have been there...
Apparently they have all these violations (10 pages!) for not taking good care of the animals. According to the claim - no one who works there is a vet or has vet training, and the animals do not get checked or treated when they need to. There is a whole list of violations when the USDA has come out to check on the animals and found them in poor condition and/or needing medical attention.

I learned all this while checking out the Big Cat Sanctuary in Tampa - which IS legitimate and takes what they do very seriously....

What I've been up to:
this book would easily comprise part of an AWESOME sandwich*.

*by AWESOME sandwich, I mean a sandwich made of AWESOME, not awesome as an adj. describing the sandwich - for one of those, see Craigwich in the AthanataLexicon.
