The Song of the Count- unnecessarily censored

  • Aug. 25th, 2008 at 11:07 PM

I first learned of this through [info]theastrolabe and I've listened to it enough that I actually get the song stuck in my head! It is soooooooo funny. And I just adore his southeastern european accent. It's the original song with some strategically placed bleeps.

Contradictory news article from San Francisco Chronicle
This is one of the more messed up news articles I've read in a while.
Some excerpts:

SAN FRANCISCO
Shocking find in man's home on trip's return
Haight-Ashbury resident falls over body in his apartment
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/02/20/BAGGBO7I631.DTL

A Haight-Ashbury resident who had been on an extended visit to Northern California discovered that his apartment had been ransacked and that there was a dead body in his bedroom when he returned home early Monday morning, San Francisco police said.

The body might have belonged to a man who was caring for the cat that shared the apartment at 1953 Page St., according to a woman who talked to the distraught resident.

The cat apparently was not greatly traumatized by the ordeal.

The orange-and-white tabby, seen prowling around the apartment during the investigation, was taken to the San Francisco Animal Care and Control Department.

"The cat is fine," said Animal Care and Control Lt. Le-Ellis Brown. "It's being held for next of kin."

"That is really sad, just terrible," said Kiersten Frey, who has lived on the block for more than 10 years. "It's usually pretty mellow around here, but recently there has been this guy around, this crazy dude. A friend of mine saw him being chased by police after he chucked a bunch of bricks into a window. He was laughing, like he was the Joker or something."

"I've only lived here for a couple of years," Frey said. "I don't recall anything violent happening before, but there are a lot of shady characters around."

-------------------

Okay...so the dead guy might have been pet-sitting the cat for the owner, but the cat has been taken to Animal CAre and Control pending next of kin when the owner is still alive?

And how long has this Frey chick lived there? Weeeeeird.

Desperate but not serious

Is that a good dog or what?
Holding his own leash while he waits for his owner to do some shopping.
Good boy!

I stayed up way past the time I should have been in bed reading this girl's blog:

You Can't Make It Up

Pretty much every entry is just straight up HILARIOUS. I kept saying, "I'll just read ONE more." And then after that one I couldn't resist reading just ONE more again. Check it out. Especially the 'best of' section.

Cutest thing ever

I hope I'm not going overboard with all the youtube links lately, but check out this Warner Brothers cartoon. It is soooooooo good! It's called "Feed the Kitty." This is possibly the most feel-good Warner Bros clip ever! From 1952.

I love this vid

Basement Jaxx - The video is so much fun,
with Russian Cossack Dancers (you know, where they squat low to the ground and kick etc).
The song, on the otherhand, is "eh".

I found this morsel in my PA hometown newspaper regarding possible flooding:

"No evacuation was necessary. Instead it was recommended that people living near the creek leave."

The mayor of San Francisco is dating a 20-year-old waitress?

If I had known that was in the realm of possibility I would have been all over Willie Brown back in the day. Dayum!
