The next 4-6 weeks of recording =:

A collaboration with Justin Foulkes on the new ending for MRSA
Vocals from Chelsea Mach (her last name might, actually have changed...) and hopefully from Rose Lichner as well
Drums from Sean Tui on a couple tracks

After that it's time for an official track listing which is pretty close already.  I will start popping up to play shows here and there, debuting a couple new songs and playing some old songs I usually on't touch.  Expect mostly solo synth and electronic sets until yet another new line-up is prepared.

    After that, the novel.

The record is coming along smoothly again.  Only a couple more songs to write and then it's time to pick through them.  I will record the record in the usual manner and then take it into a studio in Eastern Washington to rerecord the main disc.  Working on confirmingtwo guests for the main sessions and will announce a track list early in the fall.  the single is still happening, just delayed until I decide on the songs making the cut and those delegated to B-Side status.  Also working hard on my novel... well, it's a short stort collection really...

Things have been a bit... complex as of late.  I will avoid the details for now but I have been hiking and wandering through the city as well quite a bit lately... I walked around 10 miles last night through the dark city streets, through parks and tunnels and eventually to a beach.  I love the sea at night... every once in a while you can hear the sound of shells and glass washing up on to the shore over the rocks... very relaxing.

The record has run into a lot of delays due to a change in the living arrnagements up on the mountain but I've had a couple things inspiring me and the material is stacking up, waiting to be arranged and recorded.  The original 2009 release date is likely but the chance of it being done this year is quite slim.  The single is coming... I'm struggling with rewriting the chorus as it was too... loose for the style and the words.  i haven't decided what to use as B-sides yet but I have plenty of options.  I may even make this a digital release (like the Nuclear single from... 2006 was it?)

Planning a show at Nooksack Falls shortly.  I'm not bothering with invites but if someone actually wishes to travel there to watch it, great!  The point is to get some odd live footage for a future project.

    record is 1/4 completed

News in the coming weeks of a benefit show, college radio and TV appearances and the track listing for the new record.

Also, the Techno Jocks are looking for a new vocalist...  They are a rather... interesting project and after the tragedy that befell them last year, I am truly excited to see what the future holds for them.

So I'm living atop a mountain in an odd little place by a waterfall.  I am writing more then I have in years and have already recorded about a third of the record... far ahead of schedule.  It's lonely up there and there are times where my mind wanders in directions I truly wish it would not but I definitely needed this.  Dating has been a joke, I cannot connect with anyone these days... I feel so disconnected it's almost comical.  I've also shaved my head.  Yep.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.  I spend a lot of time hiking, writing and staring into the water.

As for the record, I'll probably be announcing a tracklisting in summer and releasing it in the fall as opposed to next spring.  The first single is still up in the air though my favourite one is MRSA (which I'll be playing a stripped down version of at tomorrow's show)

I worry about a lot of things these days... I'm at peace one day and ripped to pieces the next.  I guess I'm just really lonely up there.

Well, I'm almost settled into the new place, problem is that I can't seem to get phone or internet up there at all.  I had an appointment saturday but the people never arrived and now tell me that there is no record of the order (which makes me think I should find out what happened to what information I did give out...)

Once this has settled, the work will began.  Lofty goals and many years of build up on this one.  There hasn't been a full length Black AUra in about two years which is a long time for me.  Hopefully by the end of the year it'll be finished.  I intend to record the record as usual and complete it in my own studio way up high in the mountains.  In the fall I will return to the city (Seattle most likely) and re-record the record in a high-end studio.  Mastering will hopefully happen in December and the record will then follow in early 2009.

To address the implications of it being a double record... well, yes and no.  There will be a 2-disc version and the second disc will not be out-takes or B-sides but a legitimate full disc of recordings from the initial sessions.  These will not be re-recorded or mastered and so will only be available as a cd-r bonus disc in copies purchased directly from me.

Next Thursday I move to the top of a mountain in Northern Washington.  Complete isolation and the place I'm renting has gorgeous views, a bar inside and a pool table.  it's actually someone's vacation condo and I am renting it for six months to finish the writing and demo process for The Winter Carnival LP.  It will be the final phase before songs are recorded properly and sorted out into folders for album tracks, B-sides and garbage.  I have completely lost count as to how many songs exist from these sessions... it must be nearing 75 or 80... maybe even more.  I will retrurn from isolation in the fall and will begin the final recordings and deal with the distribution and business end of things (boooooooriiiiiiing).

Th e DVD project has gotten messier... it is such a fucking pain to naviagte the menus that they are being removed.  This means that when you put the DVD there will eithe be 3 choices which must be selected seperately and will not run together on their own or else I may change it to just play start to finish with no chapters.  I hate that idea, really, but this program will not work with me at all and I've spent almost 2 years on and off cutting around 20 hours of footage to 70 while still showing the progression and capturing the main periods of the band.  It will release next week.  Period.  Again, ity will be very limited edition and very inexpensive, maybe $1 over the cost of makin git ... around $5.  This isn't exactly the highest quality film.  Oh, and for those familiar with the Edenholm band or just Edenholm the man, prepare yourselves for excitement.  He has a lengthy and... well, difficult to view segment.

More troubles with the DVD.  Test Copy 3 was screwed up as well.  This project has been a real fucking headache.  Why is it so hard to compile 75 minutes worth of clips?  The menus seem to be the culprit behind most of the troubles but if I drop the menu, the whole thing would have to be viewed straight through...

So, since Delusions and Catastrophes is still delayed, I've decided to continue adding to it.  More strange clips, maybe some new videos (I'd like to find the footage for Swallowed Entirely and the footage filmed for the insomnia and dissolution records).  I may throw on some solo clips and the like as well.  Maybe a real interview (but probably not).

So much happening right now...  I'm so busy with everything but I need to start making more time for personal affairs.  I took a two day mini-vacation up North and, as usual, had some really strange things happen on the way.  2 new songs are being penned on the subject of a couple of the incidents.   Need to spend more time out and stop snubbing new people.  I am seeking assistance in the form of anxiety medication in hopes of re-connecting with the world enough to make myself feel a little less... alien.  Anxiety has led to many a break downand embarrassing situations that led to angry outbursts in the past and tearful reclusive stretches in the recent past.  I get the feeling this may be a part of my problem with connecting to new people or most people in general on a deeper personal level.  Just a hunch.

65 days late, the limited Black Aura LP / song collage Decomposition is finally completed.  10 copies in horrible looking home made cd cases filled with dried lavender, black tea leaves and various other herbs, love... and some twigs for good measure.  30 more in slim cases with minimal packaging.  The 22 tracks are broken up into 13 segments with tracks 13-22 being condensed into one very long track.  79 minutes.  Most of the songs are previously released album tracks with 8 or so being B-sides, alternate takes and a couple unreleased tracks.  The song I'd contributed for Justin Foulkes' The Blue Police Care record is also included.  All the tracks have been carefully (and very subtly remixed and blended into one cohesive piece meant to prepare the listener for the 2009 LP and it's accompanying e.p.s.  I will have a small number available at shows for cheap  and if you request one via email with an address, well, I'll give you one free (limited to 10 or so... I'm not exactly rich...).  This is mostly lighter, atmospheric works though they are all songs and there is no improvisational droning (alright, that's a damn lie but it always leads to a song at some point).
