FICTION: Categorized List · Chronological ListNAVIGATION: Recent · Archive · Tags · Profile · FriendsWHAT YOU'LL FIND HERE: mostly fannish pursuits, I think, including Supernatural fiction and my attempts at art. I'm sorry to report that I have no plans to return to the Buffyverse fandom. If that means you want to pack your bags and head on out, that's perfectly understandable and I wish you the best!
| We got home late last night, just before one or so, and I figured I'd sort through my pictures and post about the trip this morning. Which would have been fine, except for the part where I'm STILL going through the pictures! Clearly, I went a little overboard with the cameras. So hopefully, vacation stuff tomorrow. For now, let me direct your attention to spnremixfics! Remixes don't get nearly enough love. It's very sad. I'm planning to do some reading once I'm done with these pictures, but for now, I can point you in the direction of Tributary, which is a remix of my story, Bless the Oceans. If you've read mine, you'll see that it's quite different, which is always fun. If I'm being honest (and giving fair warning to those of you who don't read Wincest), I'm very uncomfortable with the fact that my gen story was remixed as Sam/Dean, but if Wincest isn't a problem for you, I hope you'll go read it anyway. If you haven't read my story first, or don't feel as strongly as I do that the fact that it's gen is fundamental to the story, then the Sam/Dean aspect of the remix absolutely does not take anything away from the story, and I think you'll enjoy it. If you do read it, please leave lots of lovely comments, because it looks so sad without them, and I think the author did a really great job. See, that's the thing about remixes: they're awesomely fun to plan and execute, but it's always sad at then end because no one reads them. And this one definitely deserves to be read! There's some really nice use of language there, and also rain and Canada, which are all awesome things! Follow the quote to read it: Sam closes his knuckles against his lips and tries not to breathe. He's never been able to learn any shame in loving Dean--look at them, this very moment--and it won't start now. He doesn't resist when Dean tugs him in, lets himself be tucked to curves and angled alongside. | |

| Okay, I'm really sorry that I haven't had time to keep up with comments on this vacation, but I just realized something, and I'm super excited. See, I posted what I consider my first "real" Supernatural fic (Tastes So Good (Make a Grown Man Cry), and boy, would I love a do over on that title) on June 1, 2007. And in it, I sent Sam and Dean to Vancouver. And to Denny's. A lot. And while the story definitely has its issues, I still look back fondly on writing and researching it, and I JUST REALIZED that after all the research I put in on Sam and Dean going to Denny's in Vancouver? I can now GO TO DENNY'S IN VANCOUVER.
Is it bad that I consider Denny's in Vancouver and finally seeing a Fred Meyer to be highlights of my trip?

| So, I got up an hour early to catch up on my flist, but I don't think that's gonna happen. My brain is feeling pretty useless, and I'm TIRED. But weirdly proud of myself for making the deadline on my spn_remix fic, even though I had to camp out with an office chair in the bathroom until four-thirty in the morning to do it. Anyway. I'm a little weird about travel (I get very excited about retail stores, restaurant chains, and vegetation) so I'll skip the highlights for now, but in a nutshell, I LOVED Portland, and Seattle's not doing much for me. I haven't really bought much in the way of souvenirs (though I managed to purchase shoes, a dress, and a bathing suit, wtf?) but I've taken millions of photos, some of which I'll probably post when I get home. Sweet Charity ends today. I thought it ended yesterday, which is why I made my bids from inside the space needle. But I was wrong, it ends today. Less than eight hours to go, so if you want to buy my services and donate to charity at the same time, now's the time to do it! Seriously, though: I got bids on the first day, people. Which has never happened before, and it may be silly, but it made me happy, so thank you. With this trip, I've mostly been outpriced in the fiction category, but I have a couple other bids in, so. Yay, charity! And now I kind of want to go back to bed, but instead, I'm going to tour Safeco Field. | |

| I have about a minute and a half, here, so. 1. Sweet Charity is ongoing. It's fun and it's for a great cause, so go check it out. This time around I'm offering three stories: one gen, one Sam/Dean, and one Jared/Jensen. I'm quite affordable right now, at under $2 USD, so now's your chance to make me write whatever you want! 2. We're leaving in under five hours. I can't wait to no longer be planning and packing for this vacation. I've had enough! Until then, though, I'm going to be running around like a crazy person. My apologies to everyone I owe emails or comments to -- I've got about a billion tabs open and no time to do anything about it! | |

| So, because I'm an idiot, I got a haircut today at Mastercuts. I think it was LITERALLY this girl's first time ever holding a pair of scissors.
And things went downhill from there. I wanted to get my wedding rings resized before our trip, but they can't have them ready until Tuesday. And I'm not a hugely sentimental person, but omg, did I not want to leave them. I did, though. And even worse: resizing is going to screw up the engraving, so after they're ready, I have to try them on to be sure they fit and then send the band out to be engraved. And this is freaking me out, even though I rarely wear them. Which is because when they're not busy falling off, they irritate the shit out of my skin, so. In the end, I may just have to have them reset anyway.
And then. I had three specific things to do at the mall. I had to get cable knit tights at the Gap. Only they didn't have them. I had to exchange something at Sephora. Again with the not having what I needed. And I had to pick up a bunch of random stuff at Target. Which would have been fine, I'm sure, if I hadn't run out of time to shop because I was looking for another salon (an ACTUAL salon) that could undo this Mastercuts disaster.
Plus, we had to get a new windshield wiper motor put in on our car, which was fine, except the one they put in didn't work. Note that we figured this out this morning after driving away, meaning they didn't even test it. Attempt number two is happening tomorrow.
I so need a pause button right now. I feel like everything I do takes double the time it should and everything I cross off my list gets replaced with something else. I'm going to try catching up on LJ during the next hour. And then I'm going to try finishing EVERYTHING ELSE on my list tomorrow so I can make it to the Winchester Pickle Festival on Saturday.

| So, I was making some icons from 4.01, and then I realized that I only have a week to get ready for this vacation, plus I have a story I forgot about that I have to write before I go, and really, I probably shouldn't be spending my time on icons. But while I'm talking about them, can I just say that I love it when people have their own artistic style? That is so cool, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it. Like every other area of my life, I'm incredibly scattered, so there's never any kind of definitive look or pattern to the things I do. This anoys me, which is why I mostly make icons one or two at a time and don't post them, but there are ten here, so I might as well, right? Of course, I stopped before I got to the good stuff, so. ( No preview, but if you haven't seen it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? ) | |

| So you know what's really awesome? Going in for new brake pads and finding out you also need new rotors, and oh yeah, a NEW AXLE. Um. WHAT? Clearly, I do not pay enough attention to my vehicle. Anyway. We're leaving in eight days to go to Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver, and I am FREAKING OUT. I don't know what to pack or what to wear and WHAT THE HELL did I think we were going to do for NINE DAYS in Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver? See, I do these things. Like, say, waking up one morning and deciding we need to move to Portland, even though I know nothing about it. And then that turns into this whole big trip and seriously, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO THERE? I am BAD at vacationing, and I'm beginning to think my intense desire to see the northwest was mostly theoretical. Also, I have to write my spn_remix fic before we leave, which is fine, except I keep FORGETTING TO DO IT. | |

| Can I just say that watching Smallville was a harrowing experience? And not just because it's Smallville. There was much cowering under a blanket with my finger on the mute button during commercials. Anyway. ( Supernatural 4.01 )( ETA )Please don't tell me anything about the previews for next week or other spoilers! Also: I'm too scared to read reaction posts because I don't want to hear about the previews! THIS SUCKS. | |
