    Writer's Block: Live Music

When it comes to bebop, you want to take it straight, no chaser. And a smoky jazz club is the best place to get it. What’s your favorite kind of place to see live music?

    View other answers

I like to see music live music in a Las Vegas styled show room with comfortable booths, good sight lines, carpeting, and excellent customer service. Yes, there it is. I'll take Vegas over the Cow Palace. I don't like SRO or stadium seating or even "festival" style, I'm not about being part of a herd.

    Writer's Block: Lederhosen

Oktoberfest ends tomorrow in Munich, Germany, leading many to put away their lederhosen for the rest of the year. Do you have any special clothing you only wear once a year? What occasion do you save it for?

Not really. In our family when I was little we used to get a new hat for Easter... the 'easter bonnet' - right? And at one point I bought this great fancy red dress that I only wore for the family xmas celebration and then never wore again until the following year so it was my christmas dress... but then after those two things, no not really.

I think I'm more likely to get an outfit for some event, wear it once, then never wear it ever again.

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
    intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

    Writer's Block: Autumn Begins

Autumn starts today! How do you personally sense the change in seasons? Is Autumn more of a season in itself, or a transition period?

    View other answers

I could taste autumn in the air about a week ago. Winter has a smell too... as do all the 4 seasons.

    Writer's Block: Sarah Palin?

Is Sarah Palin a shrewd choice for the Republican Party, or is she a liability?

Forget the republicans, she's a liability against humanity!!!!

In case you missed that yesterday -- go vote for James.

In the meantime... my coworker the editor is editing a piece right now and the artist requested the Stones GIMME SHELTER and you know, I don't go for a lot of retro rock but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gimme Shelter. It is my 100% for sure favorite Rolling Stones song of all time. So I'm grooving on it being repeated over and over as his edits.

Super coolio. Oh yeah, i picked that icon because this song was always on the stereo in the living room in my high school (yes, my high school had a living room and a stereo) and that John Tenniel rabbit was the mascot/icon/symbol of our school.

So my friend is a musician, eh? And you know how they retired the old Hockey Night in Canada theme? My friend (who is Canadian in Canada) entered the national CBC contest to make a new theme.

    Go here:

register and give him a nod. His theme is kind of retro, kind of classic TV-themed, and amazingly captures the history and vibe of Hockey Night in Canada which is (to CDNS) what Monday Night Football is to the States.

2 Free Las Vegas Tickets... to Star Trek Experience
We have two unused tickets for Star Trek The Experience Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion.

The tickets would be good for a year, but the attraction is closing forever, September 1st. If you can get to Vegas and want our tickets, let me know. It's a must-see for Trekkies and we had a great time... a shame to see these go to waste.

Let me know if you can go.

Your result for The Marvel or DC Test...

    Marvel Universe

You live in a world of angst, interpersonal conflict, and are distrusted and possibly hated by those you have sworn to protect. On the plus side, your world tends to be faster paced and more ethnically diverse. You would most likely fight alongside Spider-Man, The X-Men, or Daredevil. In crossovers, you would probably be paired up with Batman or the Teen Titans.

    Bottle Shock - the movie...

Opens August 6th in limited release.... coming soon to a theater near you. The company I work for is involved with this film and it's so cool to be part of a movie that's being featured on Access Hollywood... everything I've ever done has been so much further underground.

This is a stunningly beautiful film. It's just about perfect. My BF didn't think he'd be interested and found himself riveted. Besides being a great script and incredible story, it's the total package, I loved the soundtrack, the cinematography was amazing, the edit, the timing, the cast, the scenery, the vistas, and OMG some of the most wonderful romantic and captivating locations.

I don't want to spoil it, but it'd be a mistake to compare this gentle masterpiece to Sideways. Nothing at all similar. We were captivated from the first minute. It is an incredibly inspiring, uplifting tale of human achievement - overcoming great odds... and manages to make some strong statements about us, and about our culture... without becoming syrupy or pedantic.

BF is all about superhero action and horror but he liked it too. The exciting thing is that if this one does well there is a chance we'll be able to do the same work on more films coming up ahead. IT has meant some late nights but I love it.

Need to be clear, our company was not involved in any of the production or creative, but it's a gas to work with such highly charged, capable successful people.

OK... so now I'm thinking about people who never comment on my journal or respond when I comment to them. Do they regret that they friended me back when I friended them (in some cases)? Or do they just have nothing to say?

What if they feel all skeeved when I comment. Maybe they're all "oh no, that woman is commenting again... maybe if I continue to ignore her she'll just vaporize...."? Or maybe they just shrug and ignore.

So why do I bother? It's a weirdness of LJ. There've been a few ppl who friended me and didn't respond when I asked who they were and stuff... so I didn't friend them back (especially if they don't even speak ENGLISH) but I'm thinking of a few ppl actually.

Last winter after my medical emergency, it's not like I expected everyone to fawn over me, but there were a few ppl that I felt like maybe coulda shoulda said something, and the fact that they didn't made me have a sense that they really didn't give a shit about me.

And it's not like I need a lot of attention, but there are a few people who seem really like they must wonder why I comment at them and stuff and don't really care about me. I don't need to be the center of every circle but you know what? I don't need to keep people on my flist who really don't give a shit.

EDIT: Oh dear... no no it's NONE of you... and I should be careful what I post, now I got everyone saying stuff like 'is it me?' and of course not.
