A very hectic weekend with Simon rushing down here on Friday night and then us travelling back to Reading early Sat morning so we could witness Tom and Beth getting married :)
It was a proper Wedding type thing in a church and everything. People sang songs I not know but I did get to hear the lovely pipe Organ. And there was a sermon with Dr Who and Quantum Physics which made me very happy :)
And they did sing Jerusalem by William Blake which I know via his books and the Gothic W.I :)
I am a little confused as there was a lot of stuff about Marriage being a Christian God thing but I am pretty sure there is archeological evidence that many different forms of marriage have been around before Christianity. Simon did his best to explain it but it still does not really make any logical sense as to why Marriage should be an Organised Religion thing.
I was also a little bit confused over a story that was being recounted at the service. The story was from the Bible and at the end of the story the person reading the story stated it was Gospel. The thing is I am not sure how something can be a Gospel if it is a recounted story. The Bible was written a little while after the whole JC event and the whole thing is based on verbal accounts. So how do they know that was exactly what happened? I feel it is a bit pompous to state that your story is the utter truth when it happened so long ago and you only have a verbal account.
For the evening there was a Gothic Disco at the TUC in Reading. Simon and his friend Angel DJ'd the music was very eclectic with everything being played from bizzare Black Metal to Ebm. Reading does a fine line in comedy dance routines and I got to see the famous gothic line dance to Rob Zombie which was very funny. :)
Simon did a gruelling five hours of Djing and was pretty tired at the end of it all. I did get to dance to Angel by Massive Attack with Simon : O) :0)
I also met Fern who is doing a Phd in Chemistry. I hope I did not break his brain too much with my questions. *Looks guilty* :)
It was really nice to watch two people who are so very sincere about each other get married. And it was rather nice to have a whole club to ourselves at the reception.
My concerns are that they made him sign papers which he could not understand and have accused him of carrying illegal drugs which he is not actually dumb enough to do when traveling to another country.
I had just the coolest weekend ever :) simon_pingu invited me down for the weekend to see him and go to his local EBM night at a place called The Face Bar.
It was a fun night although I did feel one of the DJs had an awful ego issue, he played nothing but remixed to death EBM songs and whilst I feel remixes can be good, they should not take precedence over the original song. Also he generally ignored requested which is not a good thing in a DJ. I think his name as a DJ was Dropzone Jim? The other DJ was most excellent however and we got some great Choons but not nessicarily ones that are played all the time in clubs. I got to dance to Happiness by Front 242 and Suffer in Silence by Apop. :)
Everyone I met was just absolutely lovely. The scene there is very tight knit and the guys all look out for each other. They have a God Awful Chav problem there and they need to be careful when out. More so then us folk in Southampton have to and it was sad to hear the stories from the kids who had been attacked :(
*Bounces* I got to see and dance with the lovely rocksocmatt and octalbunny Which always puts a smile on my face and it was a bit like a mini Whitby reunion :)
The dance floors are a bit hard so my legs got a really good work out and I was covered in sweat by the end of the night :) Sign of a good night then :)
On Saturday Simon took me around Reading which is dominated by a Hyyyyuuuuge Shopping mall with interdimensional portals running in and out of it. Simon decided that the whole thing was built on Non-Euclidean geometery and I am inclined to agree :)
We went to see Sweeny Todd which just totally fucking awesome! Seriously GO SEE IT! Everything about it is brilliant. I am planning on getting the soundtrack and the music score asap :) And I will definatly be buying it when it comes out on DVD.
Saturday was spent with Simon trying to convince me that Black Sabbath were a band worth being into. Despite his best efforts he did not win so we gave up and listened to Front 242, Mindless Self Indulgence, and Icon of Coil instead ;0)
Sunday came around all too soon and I had to go home :(
Huge thanks to simon_pingu for being such an awesome human being and showing me around Reading :)
A Snaps Cup is a cup that a group of people will all put a piece of paper in. The cup will be designated to a particular person, and then that group of people will have put compliments for that person on the pieces of paper they placed in the Snaps Cup. This way, everyone gets anonymous compliments and it's a great ego booster.
Post your username in a comment. People will then reply to you ANONYMOUSLY and tell you something they like about you. It must be a positive comment and it must, must, MUST be posted anonymously.
So..go ahead and try it. :)
Don't forget to switch to Anon Posting when replying.
I will start by putting my name down. I want people to follow. Lets post some love for a change :)

It was not created by me but it's nice to know someone else feels the same. We have to have so many signatures by October. If you know anyone who would sign it pass it on to them. If you belong to any computer groups both on and offline get them to sign it please.
I am going to x-post this to a few forums on LJ and do a Myspack/Farcebook post.
Let's change history :D
