Have been kinda stressed out over Aidan's Primary One registration! Have just gotten the final registration figures from the school and it does seem that Aidan's place in Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) is quite confirmed *phew*. Had applied to the school under Phase 2B (church affiliation).

His getting into the school is the best birthday pressie for me :)
[erm, my birthday is next week so don't wish me yet :P]

Okay..I'm bored. Had a nap in the afternoon which explains why I'm totally wide awake now. Was on a rather long break from work to settle some personal matters and also for the HK trip and will finally be back in the office on Monday! Anyway, since I had so much time on my hand, I did some surfing and decide to post some pics of our current Miss Singapore Universe, Shenise Wong who is currently in Vietnam taking part in the Miss Universe 08 pageant. As there is hardly any coverage in our local TV and most of print media seems to be focusing on that fish scale Merlion-inspired costume, I guess these pics would have to suffice :P

[info]weeteck asked me whether Aidan was able to help out for his next TNP GSS Supplement. Asked Aidan whether he was keen and he said yes. Vivienne, one of the last year New Face finalist was roped in to be the 'mother' and he also got 2 other girls, Celine and Yi Xiu (who are reigning title holders of the Little Miss Singapore Cinderellas pageant) to be his 'sisters'. The boy had always enjoyed coming to my office. Understandably so because my colleagues always dote on him so much, giving him sweets and telling him how cute/handsome/cheeky he is...Oh well, I guess he can only be cute for at most 2 more years so he's probably trying to milk it as much as he can :P

This was the result of the eye assessment done by HPB in his school sometime last month. Saw the results in his schoolbag today and was really pleased. NORMAL VISION!!!

Compare this to the test that was done last year. I'm really thankful that we did go for the 2nd opinion at Dr Khoo which led to his diagnosis of entropion and the surgery done to correct the problem. Interestingly, my eyesight also 'improved' recently. My short-sightedness was 600 degrees. Recently, I found my vision slightly blury and had actually thought I was becoming long-sighted due to old age (gah~) but the test revealed that my degrees had gone down to 500 degrees *phew*.

Now, the tougher part...to ensure that he takes good care of his eyes!!

I know some of you have been rather concerned about my 'silence' from my blog..and many of you have actually emailed me asking abt the lack of entries & my well-being. I do appreciate your concern..

I miss blogging but I had to stop for a while to take stock. Anyway, I will be trimming my friends' list and locking most of my future entries from now on.

Unexpected Australia Contest!

Here's a promo that I'd been busy working on. In fact, last week had been a killer coz I had several promos to manage (Singapore Airshow, We Will Rock You, Mosaic Festival and this particular one)! The Unexpected Australia campaign started today with the first sponsored series and contest in SUT and their website - www.asiaone.com/unexpectedaustralia went online! The idea of having participants blog or do a video was my suggestion and to be honest, I'm not sure how the response will be like *cross fingers*. In most of our other contest, the mechanics is always a no-brainer with simple Q&A. Thought it would be interesting to do it differently.

Anyway, that's the reason why I'm promoting the contest in my blog! The prize is great. 3 winners and their partner get to travel to the state of their choice in Australia and another state that will be chosen by the Radio 91.3 Djs that will be travelling with them (it will be either Joe & Petrina or Rod & Andre). As you can see from the ad, the experiences that the winners will get to enjoy in Australia are out-of-the ordinary adventures..definitely something worth trying! To take part, just choose the adventure of your choice and write why you think u should win in your blog or you could create a video entry too. Register the url in the unexpectedaustralia website once you've done it! (but winners must be prepared to travel sometime btwn 21 March - 19 April). 7 entries will be shortlisted and 3 will be picked based on public vote. Voters get to win attractive prizes too! Actually, I'm the one sourcing for the prizes and one of the prize I'm getting is a MacBook Air! More info on the contest here

So friends..do consider taking part or help me spread the word!!!

Thanks for all your words of concern and smses (and Mong, for your yummy ginseng chicken soup too)!

Was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon. They'd wanted to let me stay one more night for observations but as I'd told them that I was fine and not in any pain anymore, the doctor finally agreed to let me go. But I'm kinda regreting my decision. The pain seemed to be returning but it is still tolerable. My shoulder blade is hurting the most but I understand that the discomfort is caused by the trapping of the carbon dioxide gas under the diaphragm which cause referred pain to the shoulder. The gas was pumped into my abdomen during the laparoscopy to help the doctor better visualise the organs. My tummy now is sooooo bloated like a balloon. I have some pains in my lower abdominal too but they are more bearable. The doctor did mention that the pain should subside within the next few days. Walking about and taking warm showers should help alleviate the pain. Just gotta tahan lah! Anyway, if I'd stayed on in the ward, I would have ended up lying in bed most of the time, requesting for pain injections to relieve my pain. Would rather be at home although having a hyper Aidan (it is the school holidays so he need not go to school) around can be quite challenging. He kept asking why he can't hug me....

not again...

I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry when I saw the positive pregnancy kit..But no, don't congratulate me yet. What the test meant was..the D&C op I did 3 weeks ago wasn't necessary in the first place. I actually had an ectopic pregnancy.

On Saturday morning, I woke up with some lower abdominal cramps..The pain was manageable and I didn't think much of it, hoping that it will go away after popping some painkillers. But by night time, the sharp and stabbing pain had intensified so much that I couldn't walk properly and hub promptly took me to the hospital.

I was given a pregnancy test, a blood test and went through several scans and it was then discovered that i had an ectopic pregnancy - which meant that fertilised egg has developed outside my uterus, and in my left fallopian tube instead. The tube wasn't able to accommodate the growing egg and thus had ruptured causing internal bleeding. So I had a laparoscopic operation done where parts of my left fallopian tube was removed in order to clear the 'mess'.

i was in so much pain after the operation..much worse than the cramps that I was getting. The doctor explained that they had to clear up a lot of blood in my womb. The oral medication they gave me didn't make me feel any better so they injected me with a stronger dose of painkillers. Thankfully it worked and I managed to get a lot of zzz which explains why I'm up and much awake at this hour!

Initially, I was very mad..didn't understand why the ectopic pregnancy wasn't discovered by my gynae at Raffles Hospital earlier! But the doctor at KK explained that some cases of etcopic pregnancy was hard to determine due to the size of the sac and a scan may not detect it. Also, the test that had confirmed my 'pregnancy' was the blood test which was to check the hormones level. Surprisingly at Raffles, I was only a '730.8' whereas my test came out as '17000' at KK. The levels actually rose so high in a mere 3 weeks.

I'm okay now..just feeling a li' numb. Hub brought the laptop to the hospital so that I could blog or play poker on facebook when i'm bored. I have tons of work to be done at work and I feel so guilty to have to be away especially since I was already on a week's medical leave the previous time. I hope to be discharged soon.

The chances of a repeat ectopic pregnancy is apparently quite high and to be honest, I'll rather not take the risk of having another child. I know I'm quite lucky 'coz there were cases where the rupture of the organ in an ectopic pregnancy had led to much loss of blood and endangering the lives of the patients. In my case, it was strange because i didn't show any signs of bleeding externally. in fact, my bleeding after the D&C op just stopped a mere 2 days ago.

Still can't believe I had to undergo two ops for the same pregnancy! Arghhh!

Left : Taken in 2006 , Right : Taken in 2007

At least Aidan's better at posing for pictures now! But the boy has actually lost some weight in the past year. Look at how sharp his chin is now. And it's not that he hasn't been eating! He has a voracious appetite and can eat more than some adults at times. Guess he is just using up more energy since he is more active now...
*********************************

I wasn't around as I was at work. This apparently transpired when the kids were over at my place on Thursday, after their swimming lessons. Alison had been there since morning and when I checked on them at noon, they were apparently playing very well together. But this was what bbhomeJune & her hub, Gordon told me they'd witnessed in the afternoon.
