After not getting a definite yes/no from anyone I contacted about the rabbit, I finally found a home for him. A rabbit rescue out of northern Illinois had an opening and she already has someone who has been waiting for an English Angora...
So tonight I have to clip his fur all the way down and trim his nails if I can so that tomorrow we just shove him in a cat carrier and off we go to take him to the rescue.

We found these Saturday night. They were too cute to pass up.

I finished the first sock yesterday. Jonathan has been wearing it like the goof he is. I am about a third of the way through the cuff/leg on the second sock. I'm hoping to have it done by Wednesday before he wears out the first one. *laugh*

Another damn foot of snow due on Sunday? fuck you weather gods.

That's it. The VW bug is going away to be replaced with something with 4 wheel drive. AAA is going to kill us if they have to come pull the bug out of a snow bank in our driveway again.

Thunder snow

Some days, I hate people. I really really do. A woman on one of my boards has been spreading the news that GBS (group beta strep) isn't that dangerous and that she doesn't want to be inconvenienced by having to go to the hospital early this time to get put on antibiotics for four hours.

So I flipped. After seeing Rowan hooked up to all the monitors and IV's for her GBS sepsis, I can't imaging a mother who would trade 4 hours with an IV in her arm for 10 days of your newborn baby in the NICU hooked up to IV's, arm paddles, and all those other wires and computers.

Big bad mama kitty protecting her young has now subsided a bit after ripping half the women on the board up one side and down the other. Will I probably get banned? Yep. Do I care? Nope. If I saved even one baby the hardship of what Rowan had went through, it's worth pissing off Ivillage.

I'm now on try three of my first sock. I actually was doing really well and was one row shy of finishing the heel flap when a kitty grabbed a needle and ran. I thought I had caught all my stitches and starting doing the heel turn part and realized I was missing a stitch. By that time it had unraveled all the way down to the cuff, leaving a very very ugly ladder of loose stitches.

So I frogged it. I'm now about 8 rows into the cuff this time doing a 3x1 rib to see if I like that any better. At least my knitting has improved through all of this. *sigh*

I started knitting my first pair of socks. Aren't you proud of me Alana? It only took me since sheep and wool when you told me to just sit down and do it. I have about 3 inches of cuff one finished in a 2x2 rib. We stopped at the Fold on Saturday and Jonathan fell in love with a self striping blue and white yarn that was on the clearance rack. So we bought the requisite 3 balls for about $11 total and a cheap pair of dpn's and a book on sock making. I'll try to post a picture later today of my progress.

only up 1 lb since last month.. can't complain. I'm only up 5 lbs total. Dr is very happy.
Blood pressure was 108 / 64 and my doctor said that she wishes some of her skinny singleton pregnant moms were as healthy.
The twins were hiding from the doppler so my doc had the mini u/s machine wheeled in. Got to see two healthy sleeping babies snuggling close to one another. Hearts beating just fine- in the high 140's for heart rate. My real u/s is next thursday and then I should have more pictures.

Jonathan works with the guy who owned this poor sweet little puppy. Now she's gone except for in their hearts.

Happy New Year

My resolution:
get more sleep before May. Then, be thankful for any ten minutes that find their way to me.

I should have named our Bengal "I love you, you're a dork" instead of Ra. He just knocked down half the books on the bookcase next to my desk by attempting to launch himself to the top of the bookcase... and missing. So the mad scramble up the bookcase followed by twenty minutes of composure licking was quite amusing. Picking up the books will not be. :(

We now have a puddle of sludge in our basement. Luckily, we were mostly caught up with our laundry so it wasn't such a disaster as last time. Jonathan discovered it at 1030 last night when he went down to transfer laundry. There goes another $150 bucks. We just had this done in the spring. I need to find their paperwork to see if we're still under their 1 year guarantee or if that's only for the jetting that we didn't have done.

*grumbles* There goes my weekend fun. I get to clean up the basement.
