Organised or Chaotic [Oct. 5th, 2007|03:24 pm]

I have discovered that the way I work is o.k. and I don't have to try and work any other way.

The way I start out looks completely disorganised, working on several different projects at the same time, materials and paints etc. spread out all over the place, my brain seems like its in perpetual overtime churning out creative ideas as I go, so much so that in between the practical creating I write ideas down and start googling up reference info and which takes me off onto all sorts of angles. It seems I go off on to lots of tangents.

There is a tendency when i'm in the middle of all this... (what seems to be a muddle)...to think i'm not getting anything done, it's all a mess and why aren't I normal! but after a few weeks, I start pulling it all together......and then organising it....

So I'm going to stop beating myself up for working this way from now on, and try to remember that what things look like on the outside are sometimes not what they appear, what looks like disorder is in fact order, which becomes evident given time. :)

Does anyone else work this way? Or is it just me……

The London Eye [Sep. 21st, 2005|07:40 pm]
Hello, I haven't posted anything for a while...been a bit busy,

I went on the millenium wheel (London Eye) last week, which was different then I thought it would be, as I initaily thought I couldn't go on it as I may panic!! you know..what with being in a confined space slowly moving higher and higher, and what if there was a madman in the same cubicle and he pulled out a knife or gun and went on a frenzied attack, I mean who would help us then? hovering way up in space in a glass cubicle, all anyone would be able to see is our blood being splattered all over the glass!!

So anyway I managed to calm my overactive imagination and persuaded myself to climb onboard the British airways Millenium Pod, it was quite pleasant, I took a few photos here a couple, The colour was a bit dull as there wasn't a lot of light, so I digitaly manipulted the photos:

[Sep. 6th, 2005|11:23 am]
Yesterday I was treated real bad by the guy in a phoptocopy shop, I took 6 small 5 x5 paintings in to get photocopied, they fit on to an A3 sheet, and he couldn’t photocopy them, first he left a great gap in the middle and aligned them up scewif thus cutting off part of the image, and then when I said ‘I needed them without the image cut off, can you push them together and line them up?’ he started getting stroppy and said look lady we aren’t supposed to do this because it damages the glass, I said ‘oh don’t you photocopy paintings then?’ To which he didn’t reply.
I then asked again if he could put them straight so he adjusted the alignment and took another photocopy without pushing them together, so it still cut off the images there was a massive gap in the middle!, as I kept trying to explain that they needed to be pushed together…he kept saying I’m telling you lady it can’t be done, I keep trying to explain,
..so I asked if I could come round the counter and show him, so he said yes and I did. I pushed them together and the photocopy came out fine then! So then he tried to charge me for the photocopies that were wrong! I said ‘well the others didn’t come out right,’ and he started saying ‘I knew you wouldn’t pay for them, I knew that’s what you’d do, people like you make me sick’ and then he took my paintings away and said ‘you aren’t getting these back until you pay!!’ I asked to speak to the manager and he said ‘he was the manager’ with a sly smile on his face, and then he started laying into me with abuse again!! ‘Oh yeah I know your type lady we get people in here every day like you..penny pinchers that’s what you are, I’m trying to run a business here.’
I knew I couldn’t do anything he was quite a bully so, I said ok ‘look I don’t want to argue I’ll pay for all the photocopies just give me my paintings back,’ he said ‘no!! you’re not having them back, you can call the police if you want!’,
so I kept offering him the money and he kept saying that I wasn’t getting my work back and then said any way it’s a debit card and I’m going to keep these paintings until the money goes through!! Aggghh I was so upset, I said look I want my paintings back please take my payment and give them back…and then he started saying anyway we don’t take cards unless it’s over £10, I kept pleading with him, it went on like this for what seemed for ever, he was ‘saying I’m surprised at someone like your self to get like this over some photocopies you should know better’ WHAT!! the only thing that made him take the card was when I said look I’m sorry please take the payment!! He wanted the apology ahhh and he was in the wrong, I’m so angry…

I know my rights and what he did was illegal, but I couldn’t phone the police as I didn’t have my mobile on me and I didn’t want to leave the shop and get the police ‘cos he had my paintings….

Anyway today I have been searching the internet for their head office number as I want to make a complaint and I find that there are also others not happy with the Manager there... click here to see what I mean

No Space in the Place [Sep. 4th, 2005|12:39 pm]
Well after all that...orgnaising all my clutter into boxes etc. ready for a bootsale, I discover that there are no available spaces, I should have booked yesterday, bah humbug!! Oh well we will go for a walk by the river instead, I may take my Camera as it's a nice day.

I have been watching the news lately(I don't really watch t.v) my heart feels so heavy and saddened when I see how people have been affected by the hurricane, how awful....
So many disasters seem to be happening within a closer time period, it brings to mind a prophecy..although I can't remember where it is written and by who, but it says 'In the end times all the weathers will roll into one'...
I've primed a little ACEO size card ready to paint something on, I would like to sell it to raise some money for the disaster fund...

Camping and Summer Arts [Aug. 30th, 2005|01:52 pm]
I haven't been at my computer much, after a stint of Camping in Cornwall, I did a week at a Summer Arts School which was a great experience....we also did a performance workshop designed and led by one of the sisters from the group Eternity, this led to a small performance on stage, i think i maybe a secret performance artist on the quiet, teeheee 'tis a bit of a buzz being on stage, although in reality i can be quite shy!

anyone want to buy a tent? I found it too cold for me brrrr, i ended up hiring the caravan (which was great, cos it was lovely, warm and cosy) oh i long to travel around the countryside in a caravan, i feel so free when i'm in the countryside.

I'm planning to do some more ACEOs soon. (i'm experimenting with writing things down first in the hope they will come into existent.....if i write this down it will hopefully give me discipline to achieve what i've said....lol)

Tidy up my Studio ....
Buy a scanner...does anyone know any good makes?

Non Electric Fridge [Aug. 21st, 2005|10:14 am]
Does anyone know about Caravans? i'm thinking of getting one, can you get sound proof ones now? I lived in one for a while years ago, but it was very cold during winter so we would leave the fire on and then it would get really bad condensation and things would get damp......

I was also thinking of what i would do if i had no electric, did you know that you can make a non electric fridge!!...yes by inserting a pot inside another and filling the gap with wet sand then covering the top with a wet cloth, when the water evaperates it also pulls out the heat, leaving the inside container cold, you can keep things in there for up to 3 weeks it was invented by Mohammed Bah Abba in Northern Nigeria. Cool eh! excuse the pun...

Melissa, Jason, Mr Wiggles, his wife and I have all been invited to the Palace and we are so excited..

Cosy Candyland [Jul. 27th, 2005|11:45 pm]
It's late in Candyland and I am up at the moment whilst Melissa is sleeping, I'm sitting next to a cosy campfire outside the hole in the hill (a bed and breakfast run by mrs Tagtail a German Squirrel) It's a beautiful night, soft guitar music floating around the flames played by fellow travellers, just relaxing here for a while, toasting a few big squidgy marshmallows and singing a few tunes....

Social Weaver Bird in Candlyland [Jul. 25th, 2005|04:45 pm]
Today we visited Mr Wiggles, Mr Wiggles is a Social Weaver Bird who lives in Candyland, He invited us to view his home and we were all quite in awe of his nest that hung from the truffle tree...he told us he started with one piece of straw and tied it around a branch with his beak and then continued to weave on top of that, He whispered not to tell anyone but he had to pull it all down after he had made it because Louisa Flap (the bird he fancied) turned her nose up at it and didn't want to come near him in it, so he remade it all from scratch..female Social Weaver Bird only want the best :)

Jason in Candyland [Jul. 23rd, 2005|10:30 am]
Well Melissa and I have arrived at Candyland, we travelled last night through sleep tunnel via dream ferry, it was quite a relaxing journey very scenic with a lot of weird and wonderful sights to see. We've met a boy named Jason who also travelled through the sleep tunnel last night, Jason hasn't been to Candyland before, he is delighted because he has found a Squirlypop (a tangerine and peach flavoured lolly)although he is still a bit reticent as to whether he should eat it because it looks so nice...
