Here's a preview...

Yep my big bang theory ....o.k that was lame but hey I tried.

As promised I am gonna show you how I made my Sakura wig from the Anime/Video game "Sakura wars". Lets start off with the supplies and image of the character. First off I will say that I thought this was goona be hard, but I as you can see it was'nt. It took me 1 hour to do and I was shocked. I will say that I tried to make her wig before and I found out a flaw. I will explain this as I go cuz this was my second attpemt and I am very pleased with the resluts. Lets get started!!!

First lets get an image of our character we want to cosplay.


As you can see that is one big pony tail. And a high one at that. This is gonna require a lot of hair.


Supples:

1. Meduim Lenght wig in the color of the character

2. 1 Half-wig

3. T-pins

4. Wig head

5. Wig clamp

6. Wig brush and comb

7. Curved needle

8. Weave thead or upholsery thread that matches the wig's color

9. Wig conditioner spray

Lets get start!!!





First pin the wig to the wig head with T-pins. Make sure it is secure. (That is why the wig clamp is a must if you are gonna be styling wigs. Wig clamps cost around 5 bucks at Beauty Supplyu stores so please invest in one)


Here is another image of the wig so you can get a better idea of the style. It is wavy though.


Turnt he wig around.


Pinn the top part of the wig and usind hair spray or wig conditioner spray the roots of the parted section and use you blow dryer one low and apply heat to the roots. (Doing this is called training the fibers. It helps hold the shaper a little better and the fibers can stay up as you section the wig.) Pinthe top using hair clamps and start on the middle section.



Now this is what I learned when it comes to parting for ponytails. I like to call this technique "The three part test" this test show you that your wig is cabale of being stylable for a high ponytail beacuse as you can see there is enough hair at the bottom of the base to pull up. Which meann no sewing wefts or making wefts at the base of the wig. Less labor my freinds and trust me that is good!!!


Another pic of why I love this wig!!! That is the sign that this baby is definely styalbe for ponytails. Look at the wefts that hang at the bottom.


If your chracter has side bangs then it is a good time to either add the hair or tyle it if there is enough hair in the wig for this.




Hold the rest of the hair up as if you are gonna make a ponytai. This will take a bit of time because you will be brushing and spraying and blowdrying. Put all the hair up and secure it with a clamp.

Hair secured.


Now you can do 2 things. You can stubb the wig at this point. And your base of your ponytail can be thinner. This is good for double ponytail styles as well.



Or do what I perfer to do for thicker ponytails and saving an awesome wig. You can take the clamps of and do one big braid. Wrap it up ina bun and taking a rubberband to hold it in palce. This will also give you a thicker base for your ponytail.







Now on to the fun part. Adding the ponytail. You can add a whole if the ponytail was gratiy defying but in Sakura's case she has a more realistic style so we are gonna use a half-wig. You can get these at your Local beauty supply store. They are very use full and for new comers this will not cover you head so make sure when you purchase a wig look at the tag and make sure it is a whole wig not a half. Also Hal-wigs have draw strings so that they are perfect for ponytails.




Here is another image of the half wig. Also take in mind that half wigs have combs which is good for clamping onto the wig for sewing.




Place the wig on teh bun and turn the comb section upwards.

I am gonna put the comb into the bun section so that it can hold onto the wig.




Now your gonna have do some tucking on the sides so that you can mold the half- wig onto the bun. I tucked the sides of it as I had the combs in place. Now it's on to sewing.


Make sure you sew the half-wig into the cape and the ruber band part of the bun so that it is definaly secure. When you tuck the sides tuck them in like a pleat and sew that into the the buns rubber band and the cap.


(This is why I love curved needles)


A pic of me sewing into the wig cap. ( If you have to take the wig of of the wig head then that is fine as long as you have the combs into the bun and pulled the draw string that is on the half wig.




And your done.

Here is a nicely done ponytail. And it is thick enough to add her signatrue red bow.


Now that is how I made my Sakura wig and discovered the joy of making ponytails. I hope this tutorial helps you and make your wigmaking expericne fun. Next tutorial will be on adding bangs to a wig. See ya soon.

Conreport..it was awesome!!!! I had fun. The panels I learned a lot and I will be doing hand embroidery for now on. I also liked having no drama at this con and the people there were nice this year. I always had some snotty teenager say something but it was'nt this time or some smart ass adult but age soens'nt matter ass are asses. I will say this I had so much fun this weekend that I really want to pursue a carreer in being a seamstress. Also I loved hanging out with Yaya and seeing Mary win. I was so gald that all of my friend won awards. For now I checked out a book from the libray about oriental embroidery ( Thanks alot athena-chan now you got me hooked on embroidery) and I will enter the contest next year. More to come folks but for now I will post a few pics and more to come.

For now my AWA Plans this year will be call operartion "P.A.P"... Panel and photos. That's right I'll be attending panels and I will drag some folks with me. I will admit it but the cons that I have been attending have not had any and I mean ANY COSPLAY WORKSHOPS OR COSPLAY REALATED PANELS. Except dragon con, but so much is going on I missed it this year again. I think that more cons should have more cosplay panels, but it depends on where ya go. I really need to hit those panels so I can fully understand and see how far I have come with my skills. I really want to be a seamstress ya know like Ash Ketchum wants to be the greatest Pokamon master..and stuff. I want to be able to look at something and say " I CAN MAKE THAT NO PROBLEM...and stuff. But seriously this is my dream may sound sappy but oneday I want to do theaher and see my work on others. I am thinking of having folks model my work more and I love having and seeing my friends wear some of my work. It makes me feel good.

Damn it all to hell. I hate being fucking broke. WHY OH WHY IS MONICA RIAL'S GONNA BE THERE AND I CAN'T GET MY KAGURA COSPLAY DONE WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!....and I can't go friday morning and I am gonna mis some important cosplay panels gotta get that day off I just have to.

Happy 21st birthday..WELCOME TO ADULTHOOD!!!!

Finally finished. However the I have a long way to go when it comes to armor making. For now I will say this I am gonna be hot and sweaty in it. Damn satin and pleather. But I digress I return back to work tommorow which ends my 3 month vaction. Sigh it's good to go back though everythings is gonna change and I like my new boss. If I wanna take days off though I have to let m=him know 3 months in advance. Also we will be over staff instead of under thank god. Those hard times are over. After Dragon con I plan on working on Kagura. I wanna learn how to make real clothes more than making cosutmes so the best project will be her school uniform. Plus it is gonna be cheaper however Hancoc now has the suiting material on sale and I can't get any. That sucks. So its gonna be made out of Cotton Twill instead. Hey Like Fred Dryer's character "Hunter" says Works for me"..damn I miss that show. I got the blouse cut out but I am missing the cuff piece. That irratates me you I did I lose it. Anyway here ar pics of the character. I hope to have this done beofre A.W.A. I hope I can get the wig for under 30. I'm sure I can get it around 26-28 if I'm lucky. Also that Blazer's collar is gonna be tough. Gotta do some major research. If anyone knows how to do collars and facings on a blazer please let me know.

Can't belive it's almost here. So I'm gonna post some pics from last year. I had so much fun and I look forward to this year.

Happy birthday to a wonderful and sweet person of whom I have had an honor to be freinds with. You're special, have a loving heart, and will always be a sister to me. Even though at this moment your cake and ice cream have been taken by me and my cohorts and we are partaking of it now. HAHAHHAHA yeah the "Cake Bandit has struck again" yeah no cake for you and Steve..only crumbs..andsome dry iciing that is hard on the plater..and some of the candles that are like stuck to it cuz it was lit while we stole it..and it ya..know...thats all 'that's left....but we left the presents!!! Yeah so take that ha...and stuff.

Due to my financial situation my con adventrues will be cut due to this however I will be able to attend some just not as often as I use to. So a note to some of my freinds please do not offer to pay my way or ask me to attend since I am gonna be strict on this. I will give you a firm no and don;t ask me again sorry if this sounds blunt, but since I am posting this early and the cons on this list are months away still won't garuntee that I will have the funds for them either way since 50% of my check is gonna be going towrds my credit. Plus you can say I am slightly retiring from the con scene for a year anyway to do changes in my life in order to improve it. So here is the list so far..man am I gonna have a slightly boring year..unless I can plot something along the way. But for now the only cons I can go to are the ones are in Gerogia and 2 out of state cons that are closer. Also cosplay will be cut down to at least 3 this year. Man I had a huge list but damn this sucks.


Dragon Con: Hell yeah

A.W.A : Yep 2 days though

Japanfest: yes

Atlanta Supercon: Hell yeah this con saved me big time since Atlanta hardly has any anime cons or any of that variety.

Katsucon: Nope to exspensive and he con crowd slightly irratates me and there have been incidents that were not cool.

Anime USA: Nope..I wish oh man I wish but that is not gonna happen.

Naka-kon: Sadly no and this hurts me that I can't.

Animazment: Definely since it is closer to Georgia.

A-KON : no I wish since it will be there 20th anniversay. I have met the coolest people at this con.

O.k more will be listed if I can remember it but for now on to the cosplay projects I wanna do with my limited budget.

Speedgrapher: Gotta do this one.


Kagura's school uniform this will help me learn how to make real cloths and takcle jacket facing and collars that torments me when I try to make balzers.


This one will be for Robert. Gonna be hard but since we are out of state I wanna try and do something together with him and try to spend more time with him as I can so I wanna cosplay with him if we ever go to cons together.


My big project this si what I am gonna do next and this is gonna take a lot of fabric paint and handsewing. I wanna make an Alex for Robert too.


O.k that's my list for now but I will add on more if I can. I wanna stick with cosplays that are simple and cheaper to make like school uniformed charaters and some with less anime hair colors since the wigs alone are more exspensive.
