So, I have been neglecting my live journal recently--so much so that I'm sure none of you are going to read this. I bet I've been deleted off a number of your friendlists. So much has happened since graduation. My friend whos article I made maps for is getting published, and my maps are being included....so I got co-authorship. O_O For three weeks from the end of May through most of June I was in Europe. I spent most of my time in Berlin, Germany, working with a class by doing a Greenhouse Gas Emissions test for Humboldt University. It was an interesting experience, and I really enjoyed getting to live in another country. I got to see many of the sights that Berlin has to offer (the Berlin wall, Reichstag, Victory Tower, and many others). Then for a 6 day stretch of time the group that I was with decided to travel around Europe--we spent 2 days in Prague, 2 days in Dublin, and a day in Brussels. All of the cities were unique in their own way, and my overall favorite was Brussels. Dublin was sooooo expensive, but I was able to go to the Guinness factory, which was a lot of fun. After our return back to Berlin, a few of us took a bus to Munich...Brad and my major reason for going to Munich was to take a train to Fussen to see the Neuswanstein castle--which we did get to see...yay! Also during this time, I helped to prepare a hillshade of Bhutan for a map for the Smithsonian in DC...for they were holding their Folklife festival, and part of it focused on Bhutan... Sooooooo the weekend after I returned from Europe, I went to DC to see the map I helped with displayed at this festival. It was techincally my first time in DC (except for 2 hours on the trip to Baltimore). I got to see the washington monument, the lincoln memorial, and I even went to some of the Smithsonian musemums (my favorite or course being the Museum of Natural History). The folklife festival was a lot of fun...and it was nice to see work that helped with displayed. There was also a section on NASA, which was awesome! I talked to some of their people about the new satelites that they've been lauching and what they can do. I was surprised to read that they've been extracting carbon data from Landsat...but they didn't know what bands to use when I asked...so I'm going to have to do some research. That next weekend I then went to the Outer Banks. It was my first time (out of the many years I've been in NC) getting down to the NC Coast...I went camping...it was amazing! I got to see Cape Hatteras, the Wright Brothers Memorial...and many more! It was so awesome! Since then, I've just been coming to school, preparing for my trip to Alaska...and TAing for one of my professors. I've been super busy this summer...and my life has gotten 10X more complicated that it was before. Well--lots has been going on! I hope that everybody's summer has been productive and fun-filled! <3 Tags: summer Current Music: Dr. Jay's Lecture!!!

Sooo, I have graduated. I am now a recipient of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography, concentrating in Earth Science and Environmental Studies and Geographic Information Science. It was such an honor to graduate with some of the people I've been around for my career in our Geography department...Kris, Steve, Hector, Nick, Jeff, Debassish....It was just such an honor to graduate with those wonderful people! Some of my dear friends came out to celebrate with us at the Departmental Graduation like Katherine, Ryan, Prasad, Mayur, etc. It was an amazing experience. The large graduation sucked. I couldn't hear anything. So, it turned out that Kris and I just sat there chit-chatting and hoping that it would be over soon. The Departmental graduation is always more fun...They say nice things about you to your family..which is nice.
Afterwards Kris had a party that I went to for a little while. The captain caveman squad was present, including all of the original people we started out with: Kris, Hector, Andrew, Justin, (and I was added later as a caveman-ess). It was amazing to see everybody, yet it's so sad to realize that a chapter in our lives that we've been writing for anywhere from 4 to 7 years (for some) is now over. We must embark on something new. Although, for some, like me, it just means taking a step up to the Graduate level, but for others it's just to get a job in the field and make some mu-lah.
So, just because I graduated doesn't mean I'm done for the summer. I just submitted some maps to an editor for a publication that my friend is doing. I'm going to Baltimore next week to see a map exhibit, then coming back for AZ, then that next week going to Berlin, coming back at the end of June, then TAing for Dr. Jay in July, and off to Alaska in August. This is also while I try to teach myself Visual Basic and fix some numbers issues in my Honors Thesis. AND I NEED TO CATCH UP ON GAMING AND ANIME! Then it's off to Graduate school in the Fall!!
Well! Woah. that's too much about my life I guess. I hope everybody's doing well!

Well...I've had an insanely busy past couple of weeks. Between getting inducted into honor societies (like Phi Beta Kappa), inducting other people into honor societies (I'm (was) pres of GTU), going to awards ceremonies, and trying finish my honors thesis and capstone project. Man. Overall this has been an extremely rewarding semester, between getting to go to Bhutan, meeting my best friend, and all that good stuff. I just can't believe it's over. 4 years of work and in 8 days I'm going to have to change the title of my livejournal. I'll no longer be a "wanna-be geographer," I'll actually be one. I don't deserve such an honor, and I surely do not deserve Disciplinary Honors, but somehow I think they're going to give me both. Scary.
First (almost) college graduate in my immediate family, first on my mom's side, second on my dad's. I don't think anybody has gotten a master's degree--and I'm going for that...even though I shouldn't, because I don't think I'm cut out for it.
I'm excited, I think my grandfather from NY is coming to my graduation. Wow.
Well, I hope everybody has been well! <3

A lot has happened in the months that I haven't posted. There's no particular reason why I haven't posted, but I've been super busy.
Most of you probably know that I was in Bhutan for two weeks starting Februrary 29th and ending March 16th. That was a ton of fun, but also a ton of work. We presented several presentations to both the Royal Government of Bhutan and Sherubtse College. The most fun part, obviously, was going to the college and meeting all the different Bhutanese students. Everybody was extremely kind, the food was amazingly good, and the scenery was even better. On top of that I was able to find an amazing friend in the department. We had known each other before but we didn't know each other well b/c he was hardly around as a phD student and all, but we actually were able to interact on the trip. Plus our situation pretty much made it impossible not to become good friends.
So, once I got back I had a ton to work on, between applying for grad school and catching up with papers and such. But, I got into graduate school, no problem here at UNCG, and I've decided to stay. I have my foot in the door here, especially with some interesting research projects. Plus my friends are here, and my friends are thusly my family at this point. And, I've signed a lease here in NC.
I'm pretty much in ZOMG I'M GOING TO DIE mode. We have a ton of activities going on with Geo Club...There's the GeOscars next week, along with the picture party, and you know what else is next week? EARTH WEEK! YAY! Lots of papers to complete, etc.
So, I just wanted to update everybody. I hope that everybody's doing well! I'm pretty drained, soooo I'll just talk to everybody later ^.^

So, yesterday was supposed to be my "Leanne Lived Through the GRE" Party. It really only ended up being Kris, Hillary, and I drinking with Kris's friend from German. Jeff and Jake showed up for A beer and left, Jeff complained of being sick and Jake...well I think they're conjoined at the hip. But, I did have a lot of fun; Kris's friend is hilarious. After we went to I think it was 3 different bars, I was going to drive him over to Steak n Shake to eat with K + H, and a freaking cop on a bike asked him if he was driving. And he said no, to which I said, I am. And then he asked me how much I had to drink and how old I was. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. He goes, "I hope you are ok to drive, because there's a check-point outside of the deck." Hahaha. There wasn't. Liar. It was hilarious. We also renamed the penguin in my car: "Man-Love," because we were watching rugby, and that's what that sport is...so we named my penguin that. Yeah, strange, but it was hilarious. hahahaha.
Well, I hope you guys are doing great! I'll ttyl!
