Two cons in two weekends I have pre-reged and made hotel reservations for both Califur next weekend and Rocky Mountain Furcon the following weekend. If you are going to either, I'll see you there. Would anybody like to share a room with me at RMFC? I have reserved a room with two beds. |

Got Yiff?
Earlier tonight I was driving to St. Johns to meet my roommate for dinner. As I waited at a stop light a woman in the passenger seat of the black Acura next to me said "Excuse me, what does 'got yiff' mean?" I've had several of my co-workers ask me that, but this was a first.
I lost the backing on my earring when I was in the shower yesterday. For two years in a row I lost an earring or it's backing right after MFF, but this one didn't even last 6 months.
My computer is starting to make funny noises again. I hope it is just the power supply fan again. |

viva Las Vegas
I saw Cirque Du Soleil Mystere last night with my Dad and Grandpa. That is a truly amazing show.
Today we looked at Hoover Dam and tomorrow its back to work for me. |

FC hotel filling up fast I neglected to set a reminder that hotel reservations for FC next year opened early Wednesday. I didn't realize this until after I got home from work and started to catch up on LJ. By then there were no more rooms with 2 beds available Friday or Saturday nights. Dammit! I think part of the reason I didn't enjoy FC as much this year was because my reservation was for a room with a single bed and I wasn't ambitious enough to find a roommate to share the costs. I had hoped to spend FC with ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) dancingphoenix, but she was too busy with school to make it. Now it looks like I'm doomed to the same situation next year. Speaking of dancingphoenix, she was here for the weekend. We went to Flames on Winchester on Monday night and as I was nearly finished with my meal I noticed a dead spider in my half empty glass of Sprite. Eww! I didn't finish the rest of my dinner, although they knocked the bill in half. I just noticed that I was billed $360 for another 3 years of XM. I was rather surprised they were able to do that, considering the credit card number they had on file was reported stolen 2 years ago. I had been wanting to see if I can get a better deal. Rumor has it that if you threaten to cancel they will offer you a year for $77. |

XM or Sirius? When I subscribed to satellite radio 4 years ago, the choice was obvious to me. XM had a cheaper monthly subscription and tended to have smaller, cheaper radios with more functionality than Sirius. I signed up for a multi-year contract that will expire very soon. So it is time to revisit the question, as now the subscription price for either service is the same and radios with comparable features are similarly priced. Of course in a few months the question may be moot as the merger has already been approved by the Department of Justice and is just waiting for FCC approval. One of the things I have wanted to do is to get an aftermarket XM ready head unit for my car and use it to control an XM2go tuner, much like an iPod ready head unit can control an iPod. Such a thing doesn't appear to exist for XM, yet any Sirius tuner and head unit that are Sirius Connect compatible will do exactly that. I just think it would be nice to see the song info on a larger screen while the tuner is safely tucked away in the glove box. Even better if the head unit also does GPS navigation. I don't care to listen to sports or shock jocks, and I don't think there is really that much difference in the music channels between the two. |

Rivethead XM channel 48 Squizz has been playing the band Rivethead a lot lately and it is really starting to grow on me. I'm actually considering setting aside my boycott of the RIAA to buy one of their albums. Consider that the last time I liked a band enough to buy their album was Monster Magnet over 10 years ago. Klutz
I felt like having spaghetti for dinner tonight and I had just enough left to make one meal. And because I'm a bachelor I strain the cooked spaghetti with a fork after its done cooking rather than having to clean an entire strainer. Normally I can strain an entire box of macaroni that way, and straining spaghetti should be much easier. Tonight was no different except that I got a little overzealous in turning the pot more than halfway over as I drained the hot water and some noodles started to spill out. I quickly countered by flipping the pot in the opposite direction, where I then lost even more noodles. Over half of my dinner was now sitting ontop of the garbage disposal. Eww. |

upcoming conventions I've been going to Califur every year since it started and would like to go again. I would also like to check out Rocky Mountain Fur Con this year as I've never been there before. I just recently noticed that they are consecutive weekends in May. Why do they have to be so close together and why does RMFC have to be the same weekend as Baycon and Fanime? Theoretically I could take the week off between the two conventions and drive from Santa Ana to Denver. I'm sure I could stay a night with my Grandpa in Lake Havasu City and then I would just need a place to spend the night in New Mexico. I love to travel and I've never driven in New Mexico or Utah before, but I'm not sure if I really want to do something that exhausting right between two furry conventions. |

Elections I examined the voters guide before I voted. One of the propositions on the ballot was Proposition 91, the transportation fund. If you read the arguments for and against it, you'll notice that the very people who submitted the proposition are encouraging citizens to vote against it since it is no longer needed, so no one bothered to write an argument against it. I wasn't very impressed by the lack of argument against. Plus I was pretty sure it wouldn't pass so I figured I'd fuck with the election by voting for it. As it turns out, 2.7 million other voters (42%) apparently had the same idea. I was also torn on the Indian Casinos propositions, so I voted no for half and voted yes for the other half. |

Hotel dilemma I have a reservation for a single king bed on the fursuit floor. I was expecting to share the room with dancingphoenix, but at this time it appears unlikely that she will make it as she is busy with school. So now I don't really want to stay in a big empty room by myself for all 4 nights, so I need to consider my options. I could find someone who is willing to share a bed with me, or at least willing to sleep on a cot or air mattress. Or I could find someone who wants to add either a Thursday night and/or Sunday night to their reservation and I can see if that can be transferred over. Is anybody still looking for a roommate or room? |
