I'm in Sunnyvale, CA. This trip is the farthest west I've ever been. It is the only time a company has flown me somewhere. It is the first time I'm going into an interview not 100% confident. This is the oldest I have ever been. It is also, perhaps only coincidentally, the oldest I've ever felt.

We're at Ryo's, scheming nefarious plans of world domination. Actually, we're just trying to settle a question: on what day of the week do people go to the pub least? We're trying to answer the question by analyzing the frequency of photos posted to flickr with the tag "pub", so right now, a script is downloading info on some 14 thousand photos. If we find anything interesting, I will post it.

So, Tuesday is apparently the big loser. I hypothesized that Sunday would have some spillover from the weekend... although I didn't expect Monday to have such a high turnout. For the record, we counted postings before 7am as belonging to the previous weekday. The whole project (including pulling down the data, which probably took 15 minutes or so) took about 2.5 hours. Ryo now wants a better breakdown by time. Up, up, and away!
