OMG amazing birth companions!

So yeah, I'm trying to keep the more intense baby stuff over at the baby blog, but...

I have to make this little PSA.  If you or someone you know is giving birth or plans to give birth in the Baltimore metropolitan area, let them know about the Johns Hopkins Birth Companions program!  It's a free service that provides mothers with birth companions (doulas) who are nursing students at Johns Hopkins.  They attend your birth as part of their doula certification and, in exchange, support the mother and partner in birthing positions, breathing techniques, implementing your birth wishes and various other awesome things.

I have a long post about it over at my baby blog if you want more info.  We met with ours today and they were awesome!  I really feel blessed to have such support and such a great, free program in our area!

END PSA.

Dear Rza, again...

I swear to god that if you pee in our child's crib ONE MORE TIME then your ass is grass.  While dropping cash on a bunch of new litter boxes and fancy foods for you seems to have lessened your peeing outside the box, you're still having some mishaps.  Well, I can deal with the occasional mess on the floor or on the trash can, but I will not put up with using our child's crib as a litterbox.  OH HELLS no.

Seirously.  You have crossed a line, little man.

(runs off to purchase a crib tent)

EDIT: I'm still annoyed at you, Mr. Rza, though I am enjoying our football game cuddle time.

[info]thewrongtim  and I just did another round of Dream Dinners tonight, in celebration of our new deep freezer.  This involved me meeting him at the Dream Dinners that is about 10 minutes away from my work at 6:30 p.m.,, aka WAY too much time to kill.  So, I decided to go to the Rite Aid in the same strip and scope out some trash mags to read while I went to Five Guys.

Well, going into Rite Aid is always dangerous... because I stop by the makeup aisle and always walk away with something...

Today's score was

Aishwarya Beige by L'Oreal.

Ok ok ok, I probably would buy anything with her name on it, but whatevers.  It just so happens that I was in need of a beige lipstick for my arsenal, so the universe was in alignment on this one.

Have it on right now and I LOVE it.  It's nice, subtle and pretty.

And it picks my spirits up to doll up a bit.

Nansi Memorial Donation

manga

For anyone interested, we are taking up a collection to donate to the SPCA in Nansi's memory. She was only with us a short while, but already we've heard so many tales of how she made people happy. Tim got another phone call from a neighbor on Military confirming her death and, also, talking about how wonderful she was. She was a neighborhood staple, a sweetheart and wonderful gal.

I told Tim today that I'd like to make a donation to the SPCA in her honor to help other animals find good homes. If Nansi could make our lives so awesome in the little over a year that we had her, imagine what other animals in our area could do for people.

So, if you want to donate, feel free to use the link below. I'll wait a week, then I'll let you all know how much we've donated. If you can spare a few bucks, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for all your hugs, love and kind words. I am still a wreck, I feel like some silly child. She was JUST a cat. But she was my cat and she ruled. I feel an empty slot in our lives and I miss her so much. But I'm sure she's rollin' like a gangsta up in kitty heaven.

Can't stop crying... RIP Nansi

Today, [info]thewrongtim  and I went around the neighborhood and posted signs for our missing Nansi.  We canvased the neighborhood with color printouts from work, covering all the cross streets in our tiny part of Pikesville.  Just as we were about to come in, I asked Tim to get the corner of Military just in case.  Even though she normally wanders in the other direction, I just felt like covering it.

Well, I just got a call from the man who lives a few houses down on Military asking if she was a kitten or not, like in the photos.  I explained that she was over a year old now, but that I didn't have any new photos of her so I had to use old ones.  He then sighed and said, "I'm so sorry, she was hit by a car.  I found her body near the road outside my front yard.  She's an orange tabby, just like in the pictures, right?" and I said, "Yes, she looks just like that, only a little bit bigger."  He then said, "I'm sure that's her. I'm so, so sorry."

I tried to hold it together, but I just couldn't.  I thanked him so much, because it's better to know what happened to her than to wonder.  I have been so worried about her and missing her so much, I just wanted to know if she was dead or not.  And now I know.  And it's hard.  I can't stop bawling because she was my girl and I love her that much.

[info]veins_of_ink  and [info]jane_stclaire  are on their way over to help me go get the body and make a full i.d., so I can put her to rest.  I didn't stay on the phone long enough to ask whether the body was still there, but I'm sure it would be.  It was only about a week ago that she went missing.  Either way, I just need help.  I don't think I could go get her alone.

My heart is so sad and heavy.  Today is just too much.  But I'm glad I know.

Sigh.

Sigh... I broke down and out of pity got myself a paid account.  Why?  Because I spend when I'm sad.

And I'm very very sad.

Because Nansi has been missing for five days now.  She's been known to go on walkabout, but this time she just hasn't come back.  Today I'm calling the pound and making fliers so we can plaster the neighborhood.

I just miss her so so much.  I'm hoping she's OK wherever she is and that I get to see her kitty face again.  But it's just hard.  I have this feeling that some nice family has found her and taken her in, which is much more comforting than thinking she finally got herself hit by a car.

That's it.

The banner sized ads for crap have popped up on the left hand navigator bar of my blog and I've had it.  I have decided it's time for the end of an era.  I am ditching my LJ for blogger.

As of today, you may now find me over at blogger, informing the world of my extremely uninteresting life :)  I'll still keep this blog/login so I can check and comment on the F-list, but this ad thing just sucks.

Discounted slot for TribOriginal!

I'm posting this for [info]laughing_muse , who has a slot for TribOriginal she can no longer attend.  This is probably the BEST bellydance event I've been to and, if I weren't so preggers, I'd go myself!  If you're interested, hit her up on LJ!
-----------------------------------

Hello all ~

I purchased a spot for the TribOriginal weekend and was looking forward to it a lot. Now, however, I have to go on a business trip and then be at work, rather than taking next Friday off and getting to the camp.  (The workshops and general fabulousness are the 19th - 21st.)

Would anyone like to purchase my spot? Right now I’m asking $270, which is less than the current $400 for the weekend, but is what I paid. Includes accomodations (cabins/elevated tents), food, and all of the workshops you want to attend. (I accept PayPal, and if you want to send money another way, let me know.)

Please let me know if you can use this spot! Let your dance buddies know. Thank you!

I've been cutting down LJ time in order to get stuff done.  Work Stuff, Baby Stuff, Life Stuff.  So, if you see less of me, sorry!

More than likely, I'll be posting more on the baby blog than here.  Since I'm getting closer and closer to mommyDom, my life, as you'd expect, is shifting priorities and interests, so I'm going to be on there a lot more.  I'll still keep this blog going for everyday life/non parenting related stuff, but I may be on a bit less.

That being said...

1. That State of Emergency crap was... crap.  But I'm glad, because that means I got to make my show in DC and have a great time.  Whee!

2. Palin is the devil.  But a really good choice for McCain to boost his campaign.  DRAT!

3. I am hungry ALL THE TIME.  NOM.

4. Daughterling likes to stretch out now and enjoy her space.  This makes me feel like the guy in Spaceballs as the little alien guy pops out and starts singing/dancing down the diner table.

5. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAE NORALITA~

ok, gotta run and do more work.  Brooke, out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please pull out your guitars and commence to wail...

A pre-disaster state of emergency has been declared in Maryland.

What does this mean for us Marylanders?  Maybe nothing, as Hanna has been reduced to a tropical storm anyways.  But still, it's freaky to hear!

No flooding plz k thanx bai :)  Don't be too rough on Murland!

Please don't slam us tomorrow.  If there is a crazy amount of rain, thunderstorming and flooding, I have no clue how I will make it to my show tomorrow, as I am seriously not down with driving myself at nearly 8 months preggo in awful conditions.  And I don't know how well the metro will be running with the "possible flooding" that's being called for in our region (let alone the fact that I'm not down with schlepping lots of stuff on the metro.)

That said, anyone wanna carpool to the Mira Betz show tomorrow?  Amy and Nora will be down for workshops and such, so I'm going to be heading out around 5ish to get some dinner/make call for the show.  Anyone?  Anyone?

But seriously storm... please pass us by.  I really want to dance one last time before I go into preggo hibernation!
