Debate 2 [07 Oct 2008|07:50pm]
The defining moment of this debate tonight was not during the debate, but after it.

McCain shook a few hands and then left the room.

Obama made sure to stay and talk to everyone, shook every hand, posed for numerous photos, and even signed autographs.

At least, MSNBC showed that part. Did Fox cut away early?

Comparison [04 Oct 2008|11:31pm]
This is really only funny if you are a D&D player and know what these creatures are called, but I think you can probably figure out the implications.

Hellas Interview from PAX [24 Sep 2008|08:37am]
Ogre Cave interviewed me and Jerry at PAX about Hellas. The audio is now up if you want to hear Jerry's loud booming Spartan voice and my softer philosophic Athenoian voice.

Republicans are afraid [19 Sep 2008|02:49pm]
Via Slashdot

"Researchers writing in Science report that the political orientation of test subjects who have strong views is linked to how easy they are to startle. They found that subjects who were more fearful were more likely to have right wing views, such as being in favor of capital punishment and higher defense budgets. The researchers suggest that this psychological difference is why it is so difficult to change people's minds in political arguments."

Pirate vs Ninja [18 Sep 2008|11:44pm]
My fellow ninja,

Friday, September 19 is of course Talk Like a Pirate Day, a horrible day for all ninja when we have to put up with annoying wanna-be pirates going Arrrgh and Ahoy Matey! all day long.

But we needn't take this lying down. Take a moment this September 19 to remind your piratey friends that December 5, 2008 will be the sixth annual Day of the Ninja, and send them to visit http://www.dayoftheninja.com

It's not too early to start planning their demise.

Listening to the Voices [18 Sep 2008|04:59pm]
Last night I came home from gaming and pulled into my driveway under the carport. When I got out of the car, I noticed that I was about two feet further back from the wall than I usually am, and I thought for a moment about pulling up. However as I was well within my driveway and in no danger of anything I left the car there.

About four hours ago, one of the contractors working on my bathroom threw a piece of hose with a brass fitting on one end out of the upstairs window, with the intent of tossing it harmlessly over the side of the deck/carport, beneath which my car was safely parked.

Except of course it was two feet further out than usual.

The hose hit the ground and the brass piece snapped up and just barely hit the bottom right part of the rear window, right at the corner. This caused the entire rear window to spiderweb into oblivion.

It will be paid for, but after two and a half hours sitting in the repair shop, I am pretty sure that from now on, I'm going to listen to the voices.

Ninja Burger Facts and Figures [17 Sep 2008|01:09am]
By my calculations, during its lifetime the 2nd Edition of the Ninja Burger RPG has sold approximately 800 copies (in print and PDF formats). Slightly less than half of that was through Key20, about 25% was through RPGNow, about 20% was through e23, and about 10% was through IPR.

Can you help me hit a thousand copies by the end of the year?

http://ninjaburger.com/rpg/

There are about 100 days left in the year, so that's two copies per day.

Let me help you help me; use this link to buy the Ninja Burger 2nd Edition RPG PDF for only $5.

http://www.rpgnow.com/index.php?discount=68881

This deal is good through September 30 to help counteract the piratey nonsense going on this month.

Spread the ninja madness!

Steller's Jay [08 Sep 2008|03:02pm]
As I was finishing up painting in front of my house, I had a baby Steller's Jay land on a beam that was still a bit damp. I tried to shoo it off and it landed on the fence and stared at me, so I fed it a grape from our grapevine, which it ate out of my hand. I then fed it a piece of stale rye bread, and it got a bit testy and flew away.
