Adrian Rennie's In-Case-of-Amnesia-Journal

Jul. 8th, 2008 09:33 am Ah, hiatus...

Things are finally winding down now the CSINY is on hiatus. I know things are winding down when my body goes on automatic shutdown. For instance, last Thursday I left work early, bought a new wallet, went home and went online to do some grocery shopping. Then I thought I would take a small nap before going out to meet some friends for the evening. This was prolly around 6ish. I woke up at 445 the next morning.

I remember how my body would do that after completing a show run. Guess some things don't change. And this is a not such a bad thing. *smile* I dreamt alot.

Yesterday I did the same thing. Ah well.

Let's see, what's new? Hmmm, my real lil sis came for a visit a few weeks ago. I took her to see A CHORUS LINE (haha my second visit), which was lots of fun. Then I took her to meet my friends in town at David's birthday party. I didn't realize how much I miss having family near.

The fourth of July was a nice this year. A few friends and I went to the SM promenade, painted the town red, caught a movie, drank cold saki, and saw fireworks on the beach. After wards we hung out at my place for a few more fireworks. *smile*

As for the pilot, god how long has it been? On the plus side as mentioned before we are not on a schedule, so it's nice that is wasn't interfereing with our day jobs. Josh and Todd completed their work on Saturday.

On that note, I'm gonna complete a few tasks in the office now. Yes, I came into work. Ah well. *smile* At least it'll be quiet and I'll get alot done.

Jun. 10th, 2008 01:11 pm Le'ts Have Lunch

So today CSINY is filming off the lot, and I'm in the office working. They brought us Sushi for lunch. Ah yummy.

The tough part of working here is the hours and trying to balance out the other projects. Finally Josh, Cwennen and I have put our schedules together to finish the pilot. The downside, is that it's been a while since we wrapped filming. The upside, we have no deadline and that takes away the stress that could force things to go bad. So we completed 2/3 of the presentation. And I am quite happy.

That night, I went with Cwennen to see A CHORUS LINE. That brought back so many memories. That was the first Equity musical I auditioned for that I DID NOT get into. I remember literally beating myself about it, vowing to get in that show. I failed and I was determined to learn from my mistakes and try again. Which I did, I slammed myself into dance classes that would give me the technique needed.

The following year, I got cast in a Riverside Civic Light Opera version as Mark. Although it wasn't original Michael Bennett choreography. Unfortunately I was not destined to see opening night. I was nabbed to be a competing Theater Production of EVITA.

So two years later, I found an opening in Orange County. Went in, auditioned, nabbed a nice role, and was directed by a Michael Bennett Chorus Line Alumni. That was what I wanted. And it was the best show for me to be in. Doing the ONE combination was a dream come true. That was the show I was supposed to be a part of.

And as I watched the current touring CHORUS LINE production also directed by a Michael Bennett alumni, I thought of that. And also the cast looked so beautiful and worked like a well oiled machine. Oh god, they were just great. But anyhow, I parallel that experience to the current pilot. It's all in the timing. I am confident there is an awesome product on our hands. And no matter what, I'm gonna learn something that I can either give me or use to improve on the next round. I just have to be patient, do it right, and have confidence. *smile* It also helps that I have such positive hard working people around me, like Josh and Cwennen.

Well it's almost time to get back to work. Here - check out this youtube clip while it lasts. *smile*

May. 20th, 2008 02:28 pm Mid week thoughts

It's only Tuesday, feels like Thursday.

Been busy at work (It's lunch right now). I've been wrestling thoughts lately about what I should be doing with my life. My new assistant took a dance class from Cindera on Saturday. She loved it. I miss going there.

Not much to really tell. A friend is leaving town on the 28th. That bums me out majorly. And we just met not to long ago. But life is like that sometimes. Just places someone on your path to remind you that life can be sweet. *smile*

This past sunday, Amanda and I had a lil champagne brunch with Josh and Geena. It was very nice. Afterwards we hung out at the pier for some air hockey and more drinks at Bubba Gump. We ended up on the beach, watching the waves, and listening to piano music and just enjoying each other company. Much needed.

May. 10th, 2008 12:36 pm Dreams

So last night I'd dreamt of being in a contest with 10 other guys to put on suba gear on a rubber raft while on a wave machine set on HIGH. The night before I dreamt of being in a running race and not knowing where the finish line was.

When I lost the scuba contest, I had to leave the raft. Out on the first round. Damn! I went up the drill sergeant in charge and I shook his hand. I shared what I learned and he patted me on the back and he said "See you next time". Then he guided me to McCools to celebrate. On the other dream, when I was leading the race and not knowing where the finish line was, another runner ran up to run with me, and we literally just laughed while we were running and leading this pack. So his cellphone rang and he stopped to talked to God. I laughed and told him to tell God I said hi, and the next thing I knew, I ran to this gorgeous house in the woods. Perfect trees. Perfect porch. Nice River off in the distance. I'm home. Then I woke up.

I guess today I've been analyzing like nuts. During the impossible tasks, I had the notion to freak out about not knowing how to put on scuba gear, or running a race and not knowing where the finish line was. And then I took a breath, and I wasn't stressed. I just smiled and I knew everything was going to be okay and to just simply ride it out.

Guess that's how I'm feeling right now. It's wierd, but I just know everything will going to turn out. I'll grow, learn, have a drink, smile, and whatever. With the pilot, working on a job on major tv show, juggling time with friends, potential 'long term relationships', I haven't fretted about not cleaning my bedroom.

Hmm... Guess things are okay in the big picture. Very thankful of how things are right now. Compared to being in other countries with war, natural disasters. I have pretty darn good living near the beach and watching the waves. Hope who ever reads this, that you just take a moment. Call your mom, or that someone special, or someone you just haven't talked to in a while and just say hi. It's little things like that, that just makes someone's day. That makes them feel wanted.

This is what I get for being a lucid dreamer. My apologies.

*smile*

What else? The squirrels by my place have become more inquisitive. Today when I was going to get my mail, one jumped infront of my path. Stopped to look at me. Then jumped to the fence to get eye level. At first I thought, uh-oh this can't be good. Then I thought, nevermind, it's just a squirrel. It was a definite Eddie Izzard moment.

So I did get to meet up with my galpal Katie, and Amanda and her man Colin for some stand up comedy. Only we ended up getting our own table and having a comedy show of our own. Very very fun.

And it looks the Wed nite is turning into something of a new group gathering at ELEVEN. Every week more and more friends are hanging out to watch a jazz singer and blow off steam from the work week. Upside, it makes the week shorter. Downside, well I haven't thought of one yet. haha. It is nice to hear Doug sing though. He's a kool kat.

Well it's Saturday, I need to get out of here. So I'm gonna upload some podcasts onto the iPod and put on the rollerblades and hit the path. I may not have a destination but I'm not worried.

Apr. 27th, 2008 01:16 pm Ah.. Sunday

It's nice and sunny out today. Did some yoga. Took a nap. Had nostalgic dreams. *smile*

Let's see, work is still going pretty busy. We lost a co-worker in our department. That bummed me out. But we did get a new one in return. Good personality and hard worker. So that's a plus.

The rough cut for THE CAVANAUGHS is done. Wow. Time for the arguing to start. Cwennen and Josh have been great through all this. Last night I watched, and found myself smiling. I love the actors and the crew we had. So lucky. Such a job well done.

And I've been thinking of the going back to do some stage directing later this summer. Found a nice score and plucked out a few tunes last night. Hopefully this will work out.

Found out a fellow internet podcaster passed away. He was a good man. *smile*

Other than that, been balancing out work and play nicely. I find it's important to have time for yourself, with friends, and work, especially if family is not around. Friends have provided the support and it's nice to have a place to give my support to, if that makes sense.

Well today, I'm gonna put on some blades and hit the pathway. It is nice out. Very nice.

Apr. 6th, 2008 10:35 am The PASSIONS Set Sale

What happens when a daytime soap opera gets cancelled? Does everything go to storage? Not if that soap opera is the now cancelled PASSIONS. On March 28th, PASSIONS filmed it's last episode, and with that they had over 7 years of compiled props, wardrobe, set dec pieces, and furniture. So they had an everything-must-go sale on the CBS Radford Lot (where it was filmed). On Friday employees on the CBS lot got first dibs. And on Saturday and Sunday, they opened it to the public.

What was junk to some people became low priced treasures to others. I went to Stage 20 on Friday during a brief break and found the place a mad house. I can only imagine how the Saturday and Sunday fared.

But since I left my camera at home, I snagged a couple of pics on my cellphone.

Apr. 3rd, 2008 09:18 pm Work work and more work

And I'm not complaining. At least I'm still working. This week has been extremely busy. We're in double-ups and we lost a co-worker in our department. Not by choice. Unfortunately it just meant more work.

Editing has been going well on THE CAVANAUGHS. It's so fascinating to see all this come together. It's like this complex puzzle seeing all these scenes get shaped.

I did manage to have some fun, went to the Getty with a new friend. Saw a movie called THE BANK JOB. Loved it. Big Transporter-Jason-Statham Fan here.

Sidenote: I was very pleased with the last episode of MEDIUM. It's rare for a tv show to keep me guessing and toss in an ending I did not see coming.

What else? hmmm.... not much... *smile*

Mar. 26th, 2008 06:44 am Hump Day already

So yesterday, I got to work early ala 6am, because I was going to leave mid-day to go shoot a commercial. I head over the props to borrow some glasses ('cause typecasting will have me cast as computer blogger). So 10:45 rolls around and the driver comes to pick me up. It's the writer of the project. So it's not a commercial really, it's for a pilot spec. Good to know.

The shoot goes well, and the strangest thing happened. The last shots of the day involved a fight. After the last shot, I will filled with all this nervous energy. And I couldn't shake it. So I took a step outside away from everyone else and looked for my inner switch.

The only solution since I was wrapped was to go back to the day job ASAP. Once there, I was fine. The DP and Camera Operator thought the scenes were good, but we'll see.

Other than that, the editor for my pilot sent me the first 3 minutes. Now that made my day. Seeing all these options of where we can go. I showed my boss at CSINY and got some positive feedback. It's all a process, and I am really looking forward to this final product. So after the dayjob, I ventured over to the editors.

I made it home by 11pm. haha. And up by 5am to get to work by 6. Good times.

So what else? hmm... I dunno. Better get back to work. haha

Mar. 24th, 2008 08:58 am Back in the swing

Doesn't feel like it was a 3 days away from work.

Well it's back in the swing of things. Today the editor finally gets to tackle the pilot. The drives were all mislabeled so our camera operator (thank god) had to rename everything. And also thank goodness for our script supervisor for being so anal in her notes. So once again, mental note to self on next project - - along with good camera people, good sound, get a GOOD script supervisor. *smile*

Saturday I went with Cwennen to a benefit for Children with AIDS in Africa. There were performers from Indionesia (did I misspell that?), Kenya, and of course from USA. There were all performing for free, singing about God and what have you. Makes you think about what's goin on in your compared to people living in other countries.

There was one singer who made it known that here in the US, we have too many choices. For instance. According to him, where he is from there are two kinds of breads... Sliced and unsliced. Here we have rye, wheat, 7 grain etc. He said he walked into the supermarket, saw all the choices and kneeled in the aisle to pray to God on which bread to take.

Humorous yet there was a point. *smile*

Well time to start work...

Mar. 22nd, 2008 10:08 am A memorable evening

...which makes this journal prove its usefulness. haha, just in case.

So I promised to take a friend to dinner. And when plans threatened to fall through, I foolishly offered a 'poor mans' dinner at my place. One problem, I haven't cooked for anyone or had a 'real' guest at my place in God knows how long. So I ran to my neighbor Steve who happens to specialize in cook. "I need to cook for a vegetarian! What do they eat?!"

He gave me some recipes, which is the equivalent to handing me the instructions to assemble a desk from IKEA.

Then I run over to the local supermarket, go aisle to aisle wracking my brain while listening to showtunes on my iPod (QUIET! haha). So I get what I need for a salad, some pasta, and a vegetarian soup. Sounds good eh? Well it was a start. Steve pops by my place with a requested Scrabble board and directions on what to and how to cook. Namaste.

Then its a race to clean my lil pad. After cleaning and showering, I begin cooking. Very proud of myself, regardless of how silly I looked supervising three cooking pots.

He arrives early with signs he hasn't done this in a while either. A six pack of beer and a wine with a screw top. *smile* I was so stupid, that I look for a wink cork opener for a good 15 minutes. Murphys law would state what I would find it right after he leaves. No. About 10 minutes while sitting, he spots it. Right next to me on the floor. DOH!

Eating and dinner conversation went along well. Small jokes here and there. Nice piano music playing. All is well. And then it's on to a challenge to Scrabble. (I had challenged him on our first meeting). He's confident. I'm confident. It's on.

First game, I get creamed, and not in a good way. I play Scrabble on my cell almost everyday. What the?!? Second game, he gets to use all his letters twice on the board. Huh?! What? How? Where did I..!? Now that just doesn't happen everyday. Does it? Third game, I lead, he catches up. For some reason I get and share a memory of my dad. When he was done playing scrabble, he would hit the board and letters would fly everywhere. "How does that affect you today?", my guest asked. I didn't think it did. Then when's it my turn, I spot an opportunity to use the desired red square. Excitement gets the best of me as I accidentally knock the board. Literally. Oh Lord! "I was going to spell C-O-Y". He laughed and placed the empty board back on my file holder, which was substituting as a table. "Well let's try to imagine where all the letters were. There was a 'Y' here and I think I can place a 'B' here." Embarrassment eats me like a hungry hungry hippo.

All in all it was a nice evening. Humorous but memorable. *smile* Been a while since I just took a night off to entertain one person with my proud dorkiness. I had good dreams that night.

Mar. 9th, 2008 10:45 pm the first weekend off

I vegg'ed out today. I finally got some rest this weekend. Sarah made a surprise visit last night. Very nice to see an old friend. We met up of all places in a supermarket. haha. Funny because she lives 80 miles away. We ended up getting a bite to eat and then just watching Patti LuPone in the Sunset Boulevard workshop. And we heckled like old times.

Today, got some blading in. Met up with another neighbor. And afterwards secluded myself. *smile* Next week I jump into post production. I'm optimistic and nervous at the same time. Goin into uncharted waters is what I wanted 2008 to be. I'm getting my wish, that's for sure.

Mar. 4th, 2008 09:36 pm Day 4 & 5 of THE CAVANAUGHS

So I needed a day off. Majorly. We wrapped shooting this weekend. I cannot recall the last time I was soooooo stressed. But you know what. It all worked out. I mean it really worked out. Yes, we lost our original location for shooting the party scene due to another double booking. But we scrambled and the team created a new set within hours. I got to bring extras. Which is funny because that's how I met Amanda. I made it a point to talk to all the background.

And a dream came true. I wrote the party scene with someone's art in particular. And when I asked Thom if I could use his work, he was more than willing. He came to set, talked with my cast and crew, and easily fitted in. I cannot recall the last time someone captivated me. And his art looked so nice on the set. SOOOO NICE.

It was an experience literally be worn to the ground. We had two days to shoot and it was a task. Sunday, day 5, was the craziest. Starting my day at 430am. All the extras, all the scenes, and such little time.

We wrapped Monday at 3:30am. I had to be at CSINY by 8. I didn't sleep. I was a zombie, but I got to work did my work. And my friend David took me out for a reward drink and cheeseburger. And somewhere between here and there, I totally blanked. My body said, "Adrian, you need to check out now".

But now I am fine, and I look back over these past few weeks. It's all still surreal. And this was only the first step. Now comes the editing. This part is gonna have a lot of photos. Hope you enjoy them. It was an experience I will never ever forget.

Feb. 29th, 2008 11:16 pm Calm before the Storm

I hope that in a few years time, I can either be on the beach at sunset or in a cabin in the woods with someone I was in love with reflecting on how today went.

Today was a day of intense experiences that tested me on why I was doing what I was doing. And right here, right now - why? Because I had to. And I wanted to. And it's what I need to do.

To watch Cwennen, Josh, Amanda, Jesi and all these people work hard toward completing a project with pride. To see their optimism, to see them have faith. It really hits me.

*smile* Yeah in a few years I am gonna look back, prolly get teary eyes, but I will most definitely smile. And even laugh on how I walked from CSINY with over 15 hanging wardrobe, my workbag, and a dance bag filled with wardrobe on a bus, down underground to a subway, onto another bus, and walked to a filming location without hesitation. I bet I looked stupid with a smile on my face, listening to an IPOD, trying to make sure no item go dropped.

How about all those people who gave a hand. My boss helping with scheduling and script presentation. The peeps in wardrobe. Crystal with locations.

And I will smile how a total stranger agreed to bring his fantastic artwork to my set. I mean, how awesome is that. Words cannot express.

Ugh - I better get some sleep. Look at me. Haha. Babbling and writing. Well time to focus. Up at 3:30am for another fun weekend.

Feb. 27th, 2008 08:38 pm Heading toward the Finish Line

It's halfway through the week and it's going so fast.

I am thanking the stars above once again. The peeps at CSINY have been helping me out with wardrobe. And when they popped out some wardrobe that never got used last season, AND matched our set for Saturday. ooooh it was too much of a coincidence.

Sadly I had to let an actor go this week. And I cannot begin to express how sad and frustrated it was. You see, there was a death in this actors family and I was scrambling to move scenes around. Unfortunately are a few meeting with the dir, I had to face to reality that it wouldn't work. This is the final week of shooting and a timeline seems to set. It just really bummed me out because I so rooted for this actor. I mean sooo rooted. I mean Ben is one of those people who you know will hit it big. It would have fantastic to work with him. But I guess that's the way it goes sometimes. And those are sometimes the tough decisions to make.

Oddly enough, David P and I were doing the casting call for extras needed on the final day, and I remembered one who had just the right look. Acting quick, I made contact and set up a meet/greet. I feel confident this replacement will do just right. Once again, going with instinct.

Today, the production got listed in the Hollywood Reporter. Wow. This is all really happening. Last night I dreamt of my deceased best friend, and I thought I had dreamt all this. That Walt was still alive and these past few years was the dream. It was one of those surreal moments when I woke up, where I knew he was around still. I know it took a few minutes just to get settled in starting my day.

*smile* But all is still pressing ahead. Did the extras casting, spoke with Qball and Josh over the phone regarding different production matters. And still managed to get my CSINY work done. Haha. Did I mention how thankful I am of my boss? Well.. I am... very thankful.

Tomorrow there will be a few fittings, schedulings, and la-ti-da stuff to get done. Tonight once again, I am looking forward to dreaming. Ever try lucid dreaming? It's a challenge to remember, but fun when you do.

Feb. 25th, 2008 12:52 am The Cavanaughs - Day Three

Let's see. Woke up at 4am, got home at midnight. *sigh*

Today was fun though. Ran alittle over the 12 hour mark. But all scenes got completed, revised one scene, and somehow ended up nearly naked. It's all for a good cause. HAHA.

Once again, had a blast watching the actors play with their characters. Though sadly today we wrapped one actor who was only in a few scenes. Steve Olson who plays Richard is a catch. He nailed his scenes with Cwennen and I love his comedic timing.

Today was also a wierd day for accidents. One actress got into a car accident, one crew member has a bottle of WD-40 explode in a bag, and my fat ass broke a table. Geez louise. Haha.

Though there was lots of laughing today. It's nice to go to a work environment where everyone is having a good time. There was a point where fustrations came through because of technical errors, but at the end of the day, it was pretty awesome when crew and cast say they like the script and the team assemebled.

Saw more dailies! Love them!

Next week we break into the final scenes which is gonna be pretty big. I am just gonna get some sleep instead. Tomorrow is a return to CSINY. *smile* Ah, the day job.

Once again, feeling very thankful. Very very thankful

Feb. 23rd, 2008 10:05 pm The Cavanaughs - Day Two

Today was day two of filming for THE CAVANAUGHS and another 12 hour shoot. We have finally settled into our studio space. It's pretty nice. Today's call only requested 3 of our actors. Though one actor who was not due, came to set to run lines. Dedication! Thank God that the skies cleared for our exterior shots. We completed a few scenes today with much laughter. It was a hoot to see David, Cwennen, and Deb blend as one.

I did get a chance to see the dailies. *smile* Very very pleased. It was nice to laugh out loud. I continue to get a good vibe. I did have fun this week doing creating a super hero costume for one of the characters. I literally was running store to store in Hollywood, sending pics to Cwennen and Josh on my cell phone. When I couldn't find a shirt top, I almost gave up. But then I realized there a perfect top buried in my closet. The next day when our actor test tried the outfit, it was hilarious to see a smile and the actor run around a small room with a cape.

I continue to be very pleased with our director and crew. Haha I am prolly a dork that I continually thank each and every person. I do mean it. It still seems unreal to see the project come to life. And I do like laughing at work. And I thoroughly enjoy watching everyone both cast and crew give their all.

Foolish me once again went to the set on three hour sleep. I'm sure I looked beat by the end of the day. When our editor asked for a hard drive, I literally hopped on the phone to ask my IT pals because I did not want to travel to Frys in North Hollywood. I wanted to plop on my bed and pillows. Haha. But it all worked out. *smile*

Our team scored with our script supervisor. This gal has been on the ball since pre-production. Such a blessing. We did have a fun adventure running from the set to find a grocery store in downtown LA. Oh lord!! *smile*

Well now I am home, unwinding for a few hours, then back to the set in the morning. *smile* So far, it has been a wonderful experience. And once again, I'm thankful for this opportunity.

Here a few pics from today's shoot.

Feb. 17th, 2008 05:35 am The Cavanaughs - Day One

Well Saturday February 16th, was the day one of shooting for THE CAVANAUGHS. I just realized that right that was actually birthday of Jeremy Crites, my childhood best friend who is named after the character I am playing. Haha.

I went to the shoot on three hour sleep. I had so many thoughts running through my head. It was the first day the crew would work together, as well as the first day for my actors to be in front of the cameras.

I foolishly underestimated the time of shooting. Reserving the space from 8am to 3pm. I should have put the last paragraph into the bigger picture. The shoot ran til 8pm. The typical shooting day of an episode of 'CSI New York'.

As producer, it was an experience to step away and let the director and crew do what they had to do without interfering. I had to trust and be observant. The DP and director had to find their middle ground, and the crew had to find their footing in a quick amount of time. Which I think took the time needed. Our shooting space was a last minute gift from heaven. I had booked the original stage where Seven Lessons was produced as a bit of homage. When that space fell through, the kind people at the Complex were only too accommodating. And the new space was PERFECT for the cast and crew!

As an actor, it's a mixture of emotions. Coming back to a character that I originally did not want to do on stage, but ended up playing for two summers. Summer one, the actor fell ill. Summer two, the actor couldn't get off book. But that was some time ago. And to work again with original cast members from Seven Lessons - Amanda, Cwennen, and David. I cannot begin to tell you how proud of the work of these actors yesterday. Funny Funny Funny. Amanda for one has grown so much, that it's a pleasure to watch her. I remember when we first met. Haha. (insert fuzzy pink pants story here). Playing the straight figure to balance out some outrageous characters required a new take. Definitely a challenge. And I am looking forward to be bouncing off and learning from the entire cast. Give and take. Give and take.

As a writer, I was so happy to see a new lease of these characters. And once again, seeing the original actors slip back into their characters infront of the cameras, I could not help but think of some actors who were not a part of this production but who excelled on stage. Jubal Ace Kohn, who once was a close friend but have since gone onto different paths, was the original Richard. He was an awesome actor. Nicole Dolci and Tamika Katon Donegal, who played Allison Cavanaugh in their respective summers, both had different but excellent interpretations. Their new actors in their spots both have visions of the characters and have exceeded all thoughts from me. I'm digging the new incarnations of Richard, the love sick guy determined to marry the girl of his dreams, and Allison, the adopted daughter of the outrageous Noreen Cavanaugh. The final replacement was for the character of Brad, the happy go lucky people loving guy, is another find. We have an actor with the experience to go beyond whats written and create more dimensions.

But this was only the first day of shooting. And it was far from a disaster. I'm counting the blessings that once we got going, we really got going. The collaboration of all these individuals bringing a project to life is a sight to see.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this will go. On Tuesday (Monday is a holiday) it's back to CSINY, prepping for the return of new episodes while prepping for the next shooting days of 'The Cavanaughs'. *smile* Life is blessed and I'm truly thankful. It's an honor to be working with such talented people, and these people certainly are talented at their crafts.

Well it's been quite a while since I have blabbed on this site. A lot has happened over the past year. Still working at CSINY. Went on a glorious Cruise to the Carribean with some great friends. Seriously it was the best time I've ever had. Thanks DeeDee and Patrick!

Met some new friends who also happened to live in the SoCal area. Flew first class for the first time. Sipped Champagne all the way from California to Miami in grand style.

Got to swim with stringrays and even kiss a few (don't ask, guess it's custom over there)

Had a delicious writers strike. Actually it was quite awful. Luckily our show had tried to plan ahead to keep people working. The strike started on Nov 5th. Our show finally had its last shoot day on Dec 19th. It was sad watching everyone get laid off department by department. Our mid season party turned into the 'unemployment bash'

I was given an ending date of Feb 1st. Practically the last ones to go. So I decided it was time that perhaps I should find other means of funds. It was a return to a pilot that I wrote a year ago based on the play SEVEN LESSONS OF LIFE. Fixed it up and did alittle pitching. I got a director (Josh), and got my favorite actors to return (David, Cwennen and Amanda) and pushed forward when I got favor from a cable network. We had our casting which went over very well. Josh snagged an actor who has talent and a wonderful personality (Patrick) for the part of Brad. I so wanted a new direction for that character. Found new talent (Steve, Ben, Deb, Max, and Christian). Locked in a fantastic studio space to shoot. And by mere chance got two Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Josh found an awesome DP. And I got great support from my boss and other colleagues. So with that, all seems to be on the right track and trust me, I am thanking the stars high and beyond.

Here's a pic of our lead girls after the first table read.

And today we learn the writers strike is over. Monday will be a return to work. (I actually went in a couple of days last week with no pay, but it's all good). From what I'm told, we are going to shoot more CSINY episodes. So these next few weeks will be tremendously busy. I think its a challenge but I'm sure I can keep on task.

I did take a second today to take a few pics by the ocean. Puts things into perspective for me. *smile* Life is blessed. Down one minute, Up and Busy the next. So here's a little shout out to Cwennen, Josh, Byron, Amanda, Katie, Todd, and my mom. Thanks! I'm very lucky to have you in my life and I promise to keep my end - to work hard, work honestly and smile at the end.
