Huh. My room now smells like durian. Despite the fact that the kitchen is at the other side of the house. *goes to vent open the window* While I do like durian, I do not want my belongings, especially my clothing, to reek of it.

I've been keeping myself up to go to bed before noon to get myself ready for tomorrow evening. So I've been computer-coloring (with a mouse!) some critter outlines (drawn with said mouse!) I've got puttering around my hard drive. It's been good practice in both coloring and patience for me. I rather like the results, especially those done on the scaled down outline of the critter I tried to get done in time for the Secret Santa. *sweatdrops* Aw well, at least I'll have an entry for that come the end of the year. *g*

Hmm.. *checks time* The bank'll be opening and I'll be heading out soon.

munches on holiday candy whilst pondering circadian rhythms
Wednesday is the last day of classes, and then we start clinicals for the next month and a half. It's 6:00pm to 7:30am on Thursdays and Fridays for me. ^^;; Just as well that I'm a night owl, eh?

Still, I'm sure I'll enjoy the fact that there'll actually be days off now that won't be spent studying or sleeping most of it away. :P

On a completely different note, I finally downloaded Firefox. I've decided that I really like it, though not quite sure if it'll replace Safari as my main browser. Choices, choices.

On another note I have the urge to buy something. Or somethings. Goodness knows I haven't really been able to go shopping in months, only a few hurried last minute dashes buying Christmas presents. And there's my niece's first birthday and baptismal coming soon at the end of the month. I'm completely stymied as to what to get her. Books? Clothes? Dolls? Toys? That topic about Pony Island at the Orchard has got me thinking about how much I love MLPs; and that I really got to remember about 'age appropriate' toys before I wind up buying some for her. But aren't there MLP plushies about..? *ponders* Though no Boohbah toys. Those things scare the crap out of me. o__o

Yes, I'm still alive.

Over a month ago I applied for, and was accepted into, a student intern program at probably the best hospital in the city. I just about went crazy getting all the paperwork together as I ran around all over the place. ^^;;

I was quite suprised I got in since it was highly competitve, but I did. A hospital is quite a different working environment for me, though I still haven't quite gotten used to wearing medical scrubs.

So, um, yeah. I've started to get into the rhythm of it all, still, ask me again when I start my practicals with patients. Oi!

Lots of love everyone.

A bit of relative-ness.

The son of my late cousin recently became a father. ^__^ He's the same age as myself and we went to the same elementary, middle, and high schools; though I was a grade ahead of him.

Now he calls me by first name since we went to school together, but to the rest of the family I'm 'Aunt' to him (and the rest of the children of my cousins). When we got word of the birth of his daughter, my dad smiled and said, 'You have another grandchild,' to me. While I find it very amusing to be called 'Auntie' by relatives nearly old enough that I could have been their daughter, I don't find it nearly amusing to be called 'Grandma.'

>___<;;

There is just something about being called 'Grandma' that makes me feel very, very old. And also now that the oldest of my 'grandchildren' is nearing the end of his high school years, the possibility of being called 'Great-grandma' in the not too distant future looms.

I am...

I am the guy who came out to the entire school in his senior speech and got a standing ovation for his courage.

I am the girl who kisses her girlfriend on the sidewalk and laughs at those who glare.

We are the couple who planned and studied and got a damn good lawyer and BEAT the state that wanted to take our child away.

We are the ones who took martial arts classes and carry pepper spray and are just too dangerous to gay bash.

I am the transgender person who uses the bathroom that suits me, and demands that any complaining staff explain their complaint to my face in front of the entire restaurant -- and shares with my other trans friends which restaurants don't raise a stink.

I am the mother who told her lesbian daughter to invite her girlfriend over for dinner.

I am the father who punished his son for calling you a fag.

I am the preacher who told my congregation that love, not hate, is the definition of a true follower of God.

I am the girl who did not learn the meaning of "homosexual" until high school but never thought to question why two men might be kissing.

I am the woman who argues (quite loudly and vehemently) with the bigots who insist that you do not have the right to marry or raise children.

We are the high school class who agrees, unanimously, along with our teacher, that love should be all that matters.

If you agree, repost this. Do it. You don't have to be afraid. You can handle it. You're stronger than you think.

I am making a difference. Hate will not win.

three notes
1. Actually make it to the Post Office tomorrow, err, later today.
2. Call and talk to a real person to get directions, instead of some machine telling to visit the website to find non-existent directions.
3. Rip and burn songs to CDs.

rain returneth
So begins the rainy season in Seattle. Which will last, oh, until late May? :P Must break out the fleece and gortex soon.

A couple of days ago the 'Almost Live' reunion special was on TV. It was really great seeing the old cast together again. I especially liked being reminded of just how absolutely funny Bill Nye (the Science Guy) could be. Not to mention seeing him dressed up in that black lace drag outfit again! Someone really has to put all the seasons on DVD.

Anyone have experince with matting and framing? I'm thinking about getting all those commissions from Silv framed. It would be really great in light of that Life-Changing-Decision™ I made recently. Though I have several years to reach that point, but perhaps not as many years as I originally thought.

pictures & dimsum
Renewed my license Saturday. Got there soon after opening time, but the line was still long. Still the staff was nothing if not efficient and we were speeded along. The license came in the mail today and I do like my picture. Which is a good thing too; since I got up at 6:30 in the morning to get all nice and pretty for it. :P

Sunday was my birthday, and I went out with my parents and aunt for dimsum. At the place we went to I got my meal free, a nice birthday promotion. It was low-key this year (good) and I got cheesecake (tasty) again for my blowing-out-the-candles pictures.

Came down with a bit of the cold yesterday, and I'm still feeling a bit down. I've got a lot of pages to upload, but I'm holding that off until I finish all updating.

tag in the sky
I was sitting out on the front steps with the cousin and baby when we saw something fly across the clear blue sky. It was a bald eagle and two crows.

We initially thought that the bald eagle was about to make a meal out of them, but soon we realized that the crows were actually chasing the much larger bird. It was really beautiful watching the eagle glide, dip, and do incredible acrobatics in the air to lose its chasers. But the two crows easily kept up with it.

I wish I had film in my camera so I could have taken pictures, because they'd have been incredible.

I rather like this new layout, very simple and elegant. Now all I have to do is come up with some icons that actually fit the theme.

hair cut
Who knew that losing nearly a foot and a half of hair could feel so good? My head feels so light.

I had made an appointment with a local, highly rated hair salon to get my hair cut. The salon is associated with Locks of Love, so I was able to get it cut and styled for free. It felt really good knowing that'll be helping a child. ^_^

My hair now reaches just past my neck now. It was razor cut into layers, getting slightly wispy at the ends. Asymmetrical bangs. Rather stylish and pretty.

I had the feeling I was good entertainment for the customers in there because they kept looking at me and smiling. One elderly lady in particular said quite loudly that when she was younger that she had hair just as like mine.

And on a completely unrelated note..

Managed to do really good at Lenny Conundrum. I was staring confusedly at the third place trophy in my lookup until I noticed I had mail. ^^;;
