My father wants an MP3 player and I said I would do a bit of investigating. He doens't want a fancy/expensive one and I was looking at the ipod shuffle. The blurb says...
"Embrace your inner rebel: flip the shuffle switch to mix up iPod shuffle's contents. Flip it again to play your handpicked playlists and albums in the order you synced them from iTunes."
Does anyone have one? Does this mean you can just play what you want in the order you want? Like can you just play an album?

Does anyone know any games similar to Baldurs Gate and Diablo that they can recommend. Not one like Warcraft but one that is good for LAN with no subscription etc...?

09:25 am - Will I die?
We all know about this youth cuture that is al over the media at the moment, well today I experienced it...

I got on the bus to work, the number 30 from Dore (a posh area and our area is pretty good) and went to the top deck and sat down. Some youth with his scarf pulled up was slumped on the back seat (I am trying not to sound like an old git but setting the scene). He has his mobile blasting shit out. He has done it on several of my journeys in the last couple of weeks, and it is always the most terrible music like that "Beautiful Girl" and reggae and club songs with irritating tunes and singers. Usually several people turn round and glare at him and nothing happens and he really pisses me off but I have never said anything. Today I couldn't be arsed with it so I turned round and said "Can you turn that off or down please?". I was met by a glare. I held the stare waiting for a response. After too long I said "So you're not going to then?" and he shook his head but said nothing. I made a exasperated noise and turned back. At this point the guy two seats behind me turned around and said "Turn it off shit head". The kid looked pissed off but turned it off. Victory! I felt slightly emasculated as he was going to ignore me, though I tell myself it is just because someone else chimed in rather than becasue he was bigger and hairier. Still success was had.

A minute later the same lad gets on his phone (this is a white boy from a nice area) and gives it all "Yeah yeah man...you know that thing what we were talkin' about? Yeah man can you get it off your bruvva?...blah blah...yeah some one need to get shot...yeah man...no worries if you can't get it but yeah man...".

10 minutes later we get to his stop for school (about 14/15?) and he gets off though I was half expecting him to try and hit me or the other guy.

His crew weren't waiting at my bus stop but will they shoot me tomorrow?

I am calculating as a white boy trying to be bad but got his bluff called but if I don't make it tomorrow then you know why don't you?

Apparently the company that makes Big Brother and did that kidney hoax show contacted my boss by email. They said they wanted to do a show abotu sexual promiscuity. They want to infect and individual (or individuals) with a 'harmless bacteria' to simulate an STI. They then want to let the person set off bonking and follow where their infection spreads. How bad is that?! He just deleted the email but I think he should have suggested syphilis or something. Mad I tell thee....though I was about to volunteer...

05:13 pm - Running my ass off!
Today is a beautiful day. Lovely and sunny and warm. The hottest this year I believe. Can't complain to much but man it was roasting when I did this 10 km run at midday! Jeepers it was killer. I succeeded and came 293 of 752 and did it in 54:49 mins. Here is a couple of pics of me looking like a tool...

Was easier than I was expecting but still way knackering and I don't plan on doing it again!

03:09 pm - Out of sorts
Well it is roasting outside. I popped out at dinner to go into town and boy was it warm. I wasn't exactly in my summer gear either. My heavy blacks instead of my light blacks. Such a waste being stuck in the lab where it is super quiet and not very indicative of work at all. I am therefore being pretty lazy while getting the necessaries done. Also have this stupid cold. When you have one your body doens't seem to really understand whether it is hot or cold. Thermostatting seems to go out the window. It is weird.
A good sleep when I get in will hopefully make me good enough to go training as I missed Tues. Hate missing training, don't do enough of it as it is really.
I forgot all about the bank holidays until last Friday and have been excited since. Don't have anything planned but resting up and maybe another run or two if I do feel well rested which I am sure I will.
I managed an 8 km run with rucsack on Monday so I am getting there. A couple more then I will leave it until the race a week on Sunday. Man I will be glad it is done. It has totally confirmed that I don't enjoy running. Good as part of a sport, but for the sake of it?! I have enjoyed feeling fitter though and think I have more energy in general this year which is brill.
I had no real reason for doing this post. I don't feel like drinking.

I have just found out my latest paper (though from my Ph.D.) has just been accepted for publication! Brill. I also have one out sometime in the Autumn. All good for job hunting!

I have also played squash at lunch time despite having a cold and now I think I might die. Was a good game though!

03:09 pm - Stiff as a board.
You read right! I am stiff as a board at work. I went to play with Jorge, the intensly musty smelling Spannish dude here, yesterday. It has left me quite stiff. I haven't played like that in a long time and my stiffness is going to make training hard work tonight. But I will soldier on as usual. Oh we played squash by the way.

Hi-de-ho campers! I am back and feeling good. I will do a proper update later about it but had a good time in Crete. Lots of chilling out, drinking, eating and having a dip in the sea. A few wee's in there too. I will put some pics up later on too but just couldn't wait to tell you all about this great beer I found.
