Two weeks after the movie opens Dawn and I went to see it. Yes, there are times when you have to take the GF out on a date and tonight wa such a night. What can I say? The Movie was ok, Will Smith and Charlize Theron made a bundle off of the Super Hero Craze that is washing over the country and maybe the world. Fantasy and escapism, what a dull world if we did not have that stuff! DragonCon, here I come. I was looking at this film and wondering, How many Hancocks will I find? I suppose I will have to wait and see. |

| 4 fighter practices |

Ok, I had 4 fighter practices last week. I hope to do the same for this week. What can I say? I will never be made a Knight in the SCA, but at least I can show some skills on the field. In my sick little mind it is all about the practice and grim determination. The way I see it, in past years, I was having too much fun. I was too focused on , I don't know what, but it was fun in the years that i did what ever I did. All of my Pennsics have morphed into one.
Creative writing is fun, once upon a time, I wanted to become a Fantasy Fiction writer. Most of what I read is pretty much the same, except for the bloody story I see in my own head. I know, I know it is a matter of sitting down and putting one word after the next until the story is written. After that, you go back a revise the thing. I knwo to do this, but i am so easily distracted. There is a matter of desire, how much do I really want to write a tale and what am I willing to do in order to see it done? I have to figure it all out.
Ok, get this, in my last calss, I made an A-. Colleget at 45 is a pain in the Ass. Math was the worst, I can BS pretty good when I want to do so. I hate doing it. in truth, i should have studied harder than I did Not. This go around will be different. |

| Pulled Ligament |

Dawn, my girl friend, pulled a ligament yesterday at he Alpaca Farm. She stepped into a hole while searching for an arrow. We spent almost 2 1/2 hours in the hopsital yesterday. She is touc and as such will make it through these moments of difficulty. |

| Unfinished projects |

The GF told me that early this morning after viewing the latest Batman film that I have to many unfinished projects. Try as I may, I have ve to realize that I am only human and I can not do all of the things that I want to do. Now, I have to scrape off my plate of life, Amtgard is gone, I just can't do it. While things in life would have been more enjoyable with a fantasy organization to kick around Iahve to realize that I can't do it such as I had hoped. |

I repaired armor this weekend and bonded with friends. The fighting is improving in the SCA, i am looking forward to Crown.

I wanted to say this before i force myself to sleep. My old friend Earl Pirtle was in Games HQ today. He is a man who loved classical music and art, I loved that about him. I knew he had an intestinal disease and I forgot the name of that sickness but for some reasom i want to call it crones or something like that.
Earl has suffered long term memory loss. He is on 90% disability
and he lost his job at Firestone because of it. While I ahve long and wonderful memories of Earl, he has all but forgotten me, all of those years we had spent together are lost. Have you ever seen a 45 year old man cry on the inside? Have you ever had the since of loss and there is not a damned thing you could do about it, that is how I felt when i spoke to Earl. He knew that he should have known me, but could not place me. Tonmorrow, he wants to game in my D and D game. maybe some old memories will come back. If no memories of me ever return to Earl, then I must be his friend and create new and wonderful memories for him! ( smile) |

I had a nice meeitng today with the barony. The barony decided to support a Convention in Charlotte called Concarolinas. This is Great, we will have more SCAdians at the Convention. |

We double dated with Dr. Melissa Lasley and her boy friend, I kep forgetting his name. They are a wonderful couple. the comedy was a great relief. I need to laugh more in my life. |

| This past weekend |

Theer was an event held in Big Island Virginia called Assessments. It was a big training event for the Kingdom of Atlantia. Dawn and I drove 5 hours it seems each way to get to this event, I am sure it was not 5 hours, but felt that way. The pavilion held up well through the rain and we will have to make adjustments in the camp bed, the thing sort of fell apart on us as we slept. The fix will be a simple fix.
The fighting was great this weekend. My ramour will need some repairs, but that is life. I had a nice time this weekend. What else can I say.
The Historical part of the SCA is ok, I like it and all. Too bad there is not much of a fantasy society around that is worth talking about. There are times when I attend Science Fiction Conventions and I see damned good costuming that I wish I could see in an organization like the SCA for Fantasy lovers like me. What can I say? The Amtgard thing is nice, but that organization is lacking in too many areas. |

Have you ever heard of Amtgard, it is like Live Action Dungeons and Dragons. Dawn and I played that this past weekend. There is a rather small group of peiople playing Amtgard here in Charlotte. Maybe the hobby will expand, we will see. The SCA takes up as much time as i can devote to it. Yesterday was one of the better days I have enjoyed in Amtgard. We need 20 active people in order to make things take on a life of their own, which in truth means we need to recruit 45. Recruiting is easy, it is free to join. Free is hard to beat when you are having fun.
Dawn and I went to a Farmer's market on Saturday. Great place. We ran into some friends there, I introduced them to Dawn. She seems to have liked them. After the farmer's market, we went to Tandy Leather. I bought material to adjust my armor for SCA fighting. later that evening, I played a game of Warhammer 40K with two of my buddies and got my ass handed to me. I still had a Great time. if i ever get involved in that game again, I will have to do something different. The figures for that game are out of this world.
Friday night, Dawn and I enjoyed the movie " The Happenings". Not a Great film at all, but different. This movies was to much like Alfred Hitchcock's " The Birds", but with trees. While I was not thrilled with the movies, it was ok.
Friday after work, I called Days Inn in Atlanta about my hotel reservation for DragonCon. The staff was most unprofessional and rude, but I got what I wanted, a room at a Reduced price and I will get to see my Buddies.

School, I am falling slightly behind. I will have to fix that. This past weekend, I had a nice Con, it was called Concarolinas. In short, it was a good Con, but not great, I haveahve to make a few adjustments in it before I can call it Great!
1. Get an SCA Tournament at The Con
2. Get Greater participation in the Armor Contest
3. Get more Parties at the Con
Those three things are what will make Con Carolinas Great! |
