( i made a lot of mistakes )

because my internship is in alexandria, my commute involves 495 and 395. i barely spend any time on 395, so i can't complain about that, but boy you guys, 495 sucks. it is the worst road i have ever driven on. worse even than 81, whose on-ramps are so scary that i literally thank god every time i make it onto that highway alive.

but no. 495 is worse. so much worse. it is literally terrifying. today a driver on a cell phone decided it was brilliant idea to merge his suv into my lane at 70 miles an hours WHILE OUR CARS WERE SIDE BY SIDE. and when i leaned on my horn it took him way too long to react and not hit me. seriously! this sort of thing is a regular occurrence. regular i say!

i hate 495. i loathe it. it's not that people are going fast. it's that people are going fast and driving aggressively with absolutely no awareness of what's happening in the space around them or how to properly operate their vehicles. worse, they don't care what's going on in the space around them and leave it up to everyone else around them to prevent an accident, which is especially dangerous considering everyone else around them is just as oblivious as they are. take this, add a minimum of 70 miles an hour, horribly designed on-ramps and merge areas (not to mention people who absolutely won't let you over even if it means their own death), and multiply by about 30 to 40 cars in any given traffic flow and there you have 495.

you know, i have refrained from posting on and even reading the rilokiley.net message board for almost a year now because in the four years since i have become a member i have watched the maturity level, as well as the intelligence of the posters, rapidly decline. today i posted for the first time in almost a year to ask what i thought was an innocent question in a completely non-hostile manner and was immediately insulted by the poster i was questioning, who was apparently offended not only by my confusion, but by my opinions on lindsay lohan and fleetwood mac. it seems my crimes were many.

while it is a wonderful place to find information on rilo kiley, and some members are okay, mostly it is a sinkhole of suck and everyone there is too busy blowing themselves to carry on any sort of intelligent discourse about anything. so, for the love of god, stay the fuck away.

today superjouer.net got a total redesign for the first time since i created it in 2003. check it out, bitches. i'm super proud.
