I'm still alive, and wow, the update page has changed since I last updated.

If anybody actually cares, things are pretty much awesome right now. I've got a new apartment sans housemates. It's all mine, and I love it. It's thoroughly IKEA-fied and a complete mess at the moment. Housewarming/Birthday party on Saturday which will be in true Elin-style and involve chocolate, board games, zero alcohol and roughly ten people. I'm so cool.

Uni's starting on Monday, and I'm actually looking forward. All of my subjects sound really interesting for once and I've got a good time table. Two days off, although some of that will be spent working (hooray, they want me to stay on - boring job, but good money and experience). I'm two years into my five year degree and am seriously debating transferring into straight Media Comm 'cause the Commerce bit is so boring and I know it's not what I want to do when I'm done. At the moment I'm eyeing post grad courses instead for when I've done the single degree.

Jamie's has gotten me hooked on World of Warcraft. It's really bad, but addictive. I always knew I was a geek, but never figured I was quite that nerdy. I mean, World of Warcraft? Luckily, I can only play it at his house, so I can't get too addicted.

We went to the Candle Records farewell gigs last weekend and it was great, but sad. Camera Obscura tomorrow which should be pretty good too, although I've heard they're not that great live.

Either way, it's time to join my boy in bed. Good night.

So, I've decided to move to vox.com. I need a fresh start, and I figure why not try out a new service? I may be back to lj at some point, it'll always have a special place in my heart! Either way, I'll be using this journal to keep up to date with communities etc.

Feel free to visit me there! (And if anybody wants an invite, leave me a comment)

Well, in case you hadn't realized, I've decided to update this a little bit more often than I have for the past, oh, say, year?

And I'm supposed to be writing my essay that's due tomorrow.

"Using specific examples; how would you distinguish ‘new media’ from ‘old media’? How useful is such a distinction?"

I'm sure you don't care.

Anyway, the weather's been all over the place lately. On Tuesday I went barelegged again and yesterday it rained pretty much all day. I've been getting compliments on the way I look though, which is always nice. Andrew (my boss, I guess) told me my dress was pretty when I went in to the office on Tuesday, and yesterday Catherine told me I looked all cute 'cause I was wearing red shoes (Dorothy shoes!!!)

I like red shoes, I have two pairs. This is my other pair (I also love my new camera!)

Swing today wasn't as fun as usual. We did Charleston stuff which I hardly remember and since we're supposed to know it, Tim went super quick. I really need to get some better deodorant. I borrowed James' this morning, 'cause mine's rubbish and after 5 minutes of dancing I feel like sweat. I smelt like man all day though, I really hate the smell of men's toiletries. At least it was roll-on and not that horrible ultra-strong spray stuff.

The only other exciting thing that happened today was that I sharpened my knifes. At the risk of sounding like a complete nerd/pretentious snob I love my knives. I got them for Christmas (probably my favourite present, after my laptop of course) and they're really good knives. My knives and my wok are definately the most important thing in the kitchen, most other things I could do without.

Oh, and our TV broke. The other night I was upstairs watching a movie on my computer and Erin calls me down. The TV was still on, but I could smell burning. Apparently it had made weird crackling noises. We switched it off, unplugged it and are now too scared to do anything about it. Oh well, it was a free TV (found on Gemma's neighbours' lawn) and looks like something out of an old movie with a rotating switch thing to change the channels. Sometimes it wouldn't show colour and you'd have to flick the switch back and forth to get it to work. Not that I watch much TV, but it'll be weird not being able to watch it when I feel like it.

PS: I love my life, my boyfriend is better than yours and I don't want to write my essay.

"Elin plays tambourine, mario bros, and casio-pretending-to-be-glockenspiel and used to be in a high school singaporean/swedish punk band."

Oh yeah, the Only gets a mention! Apparently, that's how Julian sees me.

sick

I think I could live on Thai food alone. I made a Thai red curry with chicken last night and am eating the leftovers right now. Mmm...

On the downside, I think I'm coming down with something, I feel all weak and sick. I cleaned for two and a half hours yesterday, and did two loads of washing (clothes, then sheets). First the bathroom, shower, toilet and all. Then I vaccumed and mopped the kitchen/loungeroom/hallway. Finally, I cleaned my room. It was very messy (not dirty though), so I had to tidy it as well. I was exhausted (and smelled of various cleaning products) at the end of it, but it was worth it. I like having a clean house.

That wasn't very exciting now, was it? It's been such lovely spring weather lately. The other day I wore a dress and went barelegged. I walked down to Brunswick St and window shopped and ate gelate. Last night I slept with the windows open and I've got the back door and the kitchen door open at the moment. I love it, I just don't want it to get any hotter. Damn 40-degree summer days!

In other news, I got this internship as assistant website editor for the Portable Film Festival. They're so disorganised and it's a bit of a bullshit job, but it's something to add to the resume (they're also currently searching for bloggers if anybody's interested?)

While I'm plugging things anyway, you should all go and listen to Jules or even buy the album. It's a 10-song, 18-minute masterpiece! Although we have a 3-minute song now where Jimmy plays trombone and I shake a tambourine. It just figures that on the longest song I get stuck with the tambourine.

I have an essay to write. Yuck.
