pointless meeting quote of the day:
(or conversation of the day)
Me: Jan's not coming. She's dissecting a cow's eye.
JN: WHAT????
Me: Her daughter's class is dissecting a cow's eye. She wanted to see it.
JG: Yeah, she was actually kind of torn on whether to go to school or come to our meeting.
TM: Hmmm.....dissect a cow's eyeball or beat a dead horse.....

I've been so busy this week. Over the weekend we painted the new place. It looks decent. The trim in the bedroom was really hard to do and won't ever look perfect, but oh well.

We've been packing and cleaning like crazy. Last night I did more paint touch ups at the new place and then went bowling with Rich, who I've known since kindergarten and is home from Amsterdam.

Work is crazy. The girl we hired to do full time front desk and planning admin doesn't have a computer login yet so she's just using mine. This is getting confusing, since the MRP's are all at a different building and don't know about the change. Her name is Liz, so when she signs Liz on the e-mails she sends they all thought that I wanted to go by Liz now instead of Beth. Hopefully she'll get all set up soon because we can't both use my SAP login at the same time. And we both need it.

My 'promotion' so far seems promising. I'm basically going to be the "proof police". I'm also the backup planner for three very busy planners, so this could lead to some headaches.

It's late and I should get to bed. If I have time tomorrow I will post about the promotion. We hired someone to replace me at my old position, and she started Monday. She is pretty much okay to fly solo at my old desk from here on out, so today I finally got a taste of just what this mystery promotion is. I soooo deserve to get a raise out of this!

I really wanted chicken with green beans from Fusion Grill; my ex-boyfriend really wanted to try to play mindgames with someone and rave about that crappy WB show, The OC. So anyway, we met for lunch and that's what occurred. It was a win-win situation, I guess.

In other news, I know that somebody in my company is going to be either fired, reprimanded, or disciplined for being too stupid to do their job right. (no, it's not me).

There are so many things I could be doing right now.....or, more importantly, should be doing. Instead I am making a "welcome sign" for two of our clients. Yesterday they were complaining that when the 'bigwigs' come we make a big deal and put the bigwig's names on the plasma screen in a nifty flash presentation. So I am making a special sign just for Sherry and Sarah for their 2:30 meeting.

I want chicken and greenbeans from fusion grill for lunch.

Hi Beth,
I’m trying to create a document in MS Word for a client. I don’t know the progaram at all, but heard you are very Word savvy. I’m trying to create a letter size document with just one graphic that I created that bleeds all sides. No type at all. Can you tell me how to do that?

Thanks.

Here's a puzzler. Why, if my job is so important that my bosses all insist I have to be here until 5:00 pm today, then why isn't my job important enough to warrant after hours key card priveleges??? The system is set up so that I couldn't even get in the goddamn door this morning for crying out loud. I sat outside the door for a half hour until someone else arrived. I can't leave to get coffee or to pee, so I guess it's going to be a really crabby day for me.

Last night I heard my grandfather's voice.

He's been dead for twenty years, yet I still recognized his voice.

I just noticed a message on my Yoplait Yogurt cup...."Protect Wildlife. Crush cup before disposal"

Is this a new thing? Why have I not noticed this before? I've been eating Yoplait for as long as I can remember. Have I left a trail of trapped and starved squirrels, chipmunks, and pretty little blue jays in my wake all this time?

I'm kind of pissed off right now about work and the holiday schedule.

I have to stay here until 5:00 on Christmas Eve. I asked if we were closing early or if I could leave early, and now I know that my boss will probably call at 4:55 to make sure I'm still there. Grrr.

I'm a little overwhelmed by what will follow my getting off of work that day. If we're lucky, we might make it to my sister's in Waconia by 7:00. Then, after that we'll be back in Minneapolis and I know that Ethan will want to go to Amanda's until god knows what time. After THAT (i guess that would bring us to Christmas morning) We have to go to Chisago City for 3 or 4 hours to see my dad's family, and then double back to Bloomington to Ethan's dad's house. We can't skip either of these, since we totally blew off Ethan's family at Thanksgiving, and I haven't seen any of my relatives since LAST Christmas.

And then I have to go to work the next day. And then we have to go to Owatonna. Plus there are going to be some people in town that I actually really want to make time to see. This is seriously giving me a headache.

I will have to talk to Ethan about all of this.

I actually had a dream two nights ago where I was so tired I slept through all of Christmas Eve and then had to run around the whole town trying to find an open grocery store because I hadn't prepared any food to bring over to John and Deb's.

Should I be at all surprised that the world of corporate design and printing isn't really any more exciting than, say, a sack of flour?

My mantra for the coming months will be "i will not go back into politics, i will not go back into politics", though.

oh, I went to Vegas and had a blast and had a CRAZY birthday party and all that jazz....but that was a few weeks ago. blah blah blah.

Tons of fun? Minneapolis takes top spot as 'fun city'

Now, I think Minneapolis is okay (though I am a Saint Paul girl through and through), but seriously...WTF????

Today is my birthday.
I didn't really tell many people at work about it since I'm still pretty new, so no big deal was made there. That's totally fine with me, since I'm not big on being the center of attention. I got a nice card and little present from Jan, the woman I'm shadowing. Mary (who is the nasty bitch that reads my e-mail) probably saw the e-mail from my dad wishing me a happy birthday, so so said, "is it your birthday or something?" in a really abrupt way.

Saturday was the big double birthday blowout for Rena and I. Charley had a party for us at his new house, and we had a really good turn out. Dan #2 (there are 5 in my life) made good on his promise to come, and that was one of the highlights. He gave us the fabulous news that he is learning to play the guitar, and that the song we wanted him to sing at our wedding would be a breeze to play on the guitar. that will solve the problem of how to get a piano outside; we just won't have one. Rob brought his scary roommate-- the same one that tagged along with us for the 4th of July, so that was.....interesting. A few people gave me homemade CD's, and Lara, Jacia, and Wayne went in together bought me Chicago on DVD. Kate and Megan got me a ton of bath stuff, presumably because now that I'm an old lady I need to exfoliate more.
I was way too hungover on Sunday for my own good, so Ethan did a fabulous job of cleaning and cooking and playing all around host extraordinaire for the big family birthday dinner. All I had to do was stop moaning and groaning and come out of the bedroom when my folks rang up from the front door. I didn't eat any of my birthday dinner until 10:00, long after everyone had left.

I actually didn't want to do anything special today, so we just stayed in. I think the fact that it was already pitch dark when I left work had something to do with that.

It's off to Vegas for us Thursday morning.

I am sad that Elliot Smith went and killed himself.

I think I'll play his 2nd album in my head the rest of the work-day.

I have a feeling that in the days and weeks to come I will be writing a lot of bitchy posts about Mary, the co-worker that snoops in my e-mail.

I sort of hate her. And her "solid cherry" furniture that she keeps telling me about. And her ex-boyfriend that is in the work house.

meow meow meow.

Ethan and I bought this dvd at PetSmart.

Elsie really loves it. It seriously was worth the 11 dollars.
