I'm so bad at updating nowadays.
This summer is turning out to be pretty great, as summers tend to be. I'm doing well in my class (which ends in one week anyway), I'm dancing enough to keep me satisfied, there's always a ton of good food in my fridge and in my belly, I have tons of time to do all the crafty things I like, and I get to hang out with a wonderful boy who sings cheesy country songs at me.
Anyway, here's some stuff that's been going on:
Disneyland!
We hit up the ol' park a couple weekends ago to see what we could see. We had planned to just get the one-day park hopper tickets, but it turns out that they're like $90 now, and the lowest-level annual pass is only $40 more, so we got those instead. Woo!
We didn't rush through the rides since we didn't feel like we had to, what with the passes and all. We had a really nice dinner at Blue Bayou, where I had the prime rib and Misho had the jambalaya; he won. Mmmm.
Since we went on a Saturday we were able to catch the swing band's set. They played a couple of cha-chas, so we got to dance a bit, and we talked to a couple of the swing dancers there. They mostly dance West Coast there, and Misho and I know East Coast, so we felt a bit out of place. We plan to learn West Coast eventually, though. It was still fun watching all the dancers, and the band was great as usual.
( More pictures! )We went to the beach with a couple friends that same weekend. Dockweiler is quickly becoming my favorite beach -- it's usually way less crowded than other beaches, parking is easy, and there are a ton of fire rings if you feel like barbecuing.
Misho ended up getting a really hilarious burn that day. He's white as all get-out, so he liberally used some spf-30 spray-on sunblock. However, when putting it on his face, he avoided the area around his eyes, like you're supposed to. He ended up having a really dark burn just around his eye sockets, which looked like a superhero mask for a couple of days.
( More pictures! )In crafty news, I'm getting back into henna. I was introduced to it in high school when Chelsea started doing it, and I just looked it up again and got hooked. Here's something I did on my foot this afternoon when bored:

It turned out a lot better than one I did on my wrist yesterday, which ran because I think I used too much lemon-sugar mixture to seal it. I'm quickly running out of body parts to henna on, though, so hopefully I'll find someone who doesn't mind me doodling on them.
Oh! I almost forgot!
My salsa teacher, Liz, asked me (and a couple others) to perform with her at the Hollywood Bowl! We're going to be performing on August 15th and 16th, for the
Night in Old Havana -- Mambo Style! show. It's so cool, we're even getting paid! However, we're only going to have two two-hour rehearsals to prepare. Crazy.
Time to get ready for salsa!
