Technical help required... [05 Oct 2008|01:14pm] aussiebuffy [ mood | confused ] Okay, so recently I've noticed that when watching movies/tv, my screen is flickering slightly - the refresh rate just doesn't seem to be moving fast enough to keep up with the images. Does this mean I need to update video card drivers? I went into Control Panel/Display/Advanced - and in the place where it says to adjust refresh rate - there is only one option seemingly - default? Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions muchly appreciated! .07 || Ruined Me.

Nelly Furtado ] Okay, the most random thing just happened to me! I was on my way to this second hand CD/Book store nearby, thinking they might want some of my CDs, or DVDs even - no go, however.. I got pulled aside in the street, someone asking for directions. He was possibly Indian, maybe around 40ish, didn't look scary or anything so I just said, that he'd need to get to the city first by train if he wanted to get to Laverton. He was telling me about his new job, and it was his first day and just wanted to make sure he got there ok. So I was like, yeah of course, there will be someone at the train station that will give you better directions. He then says, you're very beautiful what's your name? I'm like.. ohh.. I'm Kimberley, thankyou? He shakes my hand, and practically doesn't let it go. He practically caressed my hand, and I let go as quickly as I could, and tried to then say, yeah so.. just go to the train station, they'll help you. He then says, so I'm taking salsa lessons, and my dance partner found someone else, would you like to join me? I said oh.. haha, no, I really can't dance. (meanwhile, thinking oh my God, what is this?!) and then he said, oh, yeah its just for beginners, its lots of fun, you look like fun, we'll fall over and laugh.. *shudder* I said, haha, no I have no rhythm thanks. He than took my hand again, and said oh, can I get your email, and I just let his hand go, and I said, no sorry I don't know you. He said, oh but that's the point, I drop you a line, we see where things head. (I'm like... WHAT?! Where WHAT things go?!) and I said sorry, no not interested.. he then said, can I give you a hug? It made me smile, it was sweet.. a bit sad, AND.. featured Gabriella Cilmi's Sweet About Me song, as well as a live performance of Bottle It Up by Sara Bareilles, and finished off with Better in Time by Leona Lewis... Okay, I was one of 12 winners, but I was one of THREE video winners, after posting one of my favourite makeup products in commemoration of Pinkiecharm's 200th review. And I'm one of the 12 winners! I get a cute mystery makeup gift, I think from The Body Bakery and if you know me... anything with a sweet, dessert flavoured scent, I want it! I have vanilla/oatmeal soap, vanilla frosting scented body butter, apple strudel lip butter from The Body Shop.. oh, the list goes on (you can see I heart Vanilla) but in general, anything related to sweets I'm in for. So whatever I get from Pinkiecharm will be amazing! *squeals* AND! Oh man, Channel 9 have decided to show Survivor: Fans vs. Favourites. JAMES!! My Louisiana Gravedigger, it doesn't matter that I still haven't seen the first episode of Heroes, or tonight's episode of Prison Break.. I'm just a bit too scattered from work, and excited about Survivor being on TV. Oh! And tomorrow, I'll scan the photo of me and Jordan Millar (who was support for Brian McFadden this year) and oh man.. the photo actually turned out really well! Liz even printed it.. seriously. I don't know.. I was having a good makeup day! OH! And I got Smoke & Diamonds... my makeup gals will know what this is, but oh man, its my first makeup purchase since LashBlast, and I'm SO excited to wear it tomorrow!!! Jason aka Aussie Ryan Kwanten deserves major props for this episode, he was just a hoot, ODing on 'V' juice, and having 'goiter' of the dick..!! (I'm also drafting up my reviews for Lipstick Jungle and Supernatural though I'm thinking I need to get some pictures on pop couture, or figure out how to add a sidebar.. Oh! Cos we are livin' in a material world.. [28 Sep 2008|02:30pm] aussiebuffy [ mood | excited ] ...and I am a material girl.. I did a wee bit of damage today at Highpoint, and then DFO (as the shop my sis and her bf needed to go to was closed at HP, but nearest one was at DFO). But anywho.. I spent around $200 but on bargains, and stuff I needed!! *squeals* (And ya know what, my budget is GREAT this month, and I haven't dipped into my savings at all!) So.. I got this Metro red bag, more of a deep red (almost burgundy) that was $80, but I got it for $30. So cute, about 25cm high I would say, and sturdy. My black bag, even though it was Kate Hill, had all the rubbery threads coming off from the handles. Not a good look.. To match it, I got this.. oh man, I suck at describing, but its a red embossed wallet - red and white really. I feel so glam! That was $25 and Kate Hill, marked down from $40. Sister's bf went into Jeep.. I didn't even realise they made clothes?! (The car brand!) And I immediately saw this long brown skirt, sorta cargo style, and really soft. I tried it on.. It was a winner! Marked down from $70, I got it for $52.. It minimised the junk in the trunk, I had to get it. :P Then.. Sister went into Country Road, and she was trying on a few tops, then she said hmm.. I should only get 2, why don't you try this one on, and then we can share! haha, so I just got a $20 deep purple tailored t-shirt. :) And you'd think that would be it? Oh man.. I went past Garfunkle, and I saw this cute mini trench. Well, I guess its not a trench, but just a tailoired jacket, in build belt thingy.. four chunky buttons, in cream. I raced in, found my size, tried it on. Alas, it fit. I had to buy it. Seriously, it just fit SO well, it will match everything (and go with the other tops I put on lay by yesterday AND the shirts I bought with kat1825 that time) and that was marked down from $168 to $69... Its like.. linen, I think. *checks tags* Hmm, it feels like linen, but it actually says 'cotton trench', and I *love* it. I actually feel like I'll be dressing my age, and I have a style lately.. *next on my to buy list, a digital camera so I can take photos!* Edit Here is a pic of the bag.. Now there's only me & you/living on this dead end avenue [27 Sep 2008|10:01pm] aussiebuffy [ mood | okay ] [ music | Get Away - Brian McFadden ] So today, I just had a lazy day, I completely had a full on nap in the afternoon, I just feel so lethargic. I had a nice brekky, and went to this clothes shop that always has amazing clothes, neat/corporate and since I've been clothes spring cleaning lately, I've really wanted to buy more clothes, for work, for home, and find a style. I've been wearing clothes mainly for comfort and such, and now.. I'm finding my fit. Although I'm carrying weight around I don't want ( no thanks to my crappy diet, I know, I know.. my own doing!) I'm going to change that. Somehow. Baby steps. Anyway, I digress. Today, I went in, and I was sister-less (grand final day, they were busy) and I was explaining the type of clothes I wanted to wear for work, its not a formal workplace by any means, but I want to look stylish. Now, I'm horrific at describing clothes but here goes.. I just had a GREAT day, and Julie and her daughter there (that own the store) were adorable. First top I tried on had sort of a square cut bodice - not square, but not a semi circle.. it is called 'Vintage Embossed' and its cream, and has these cute 2 layered cap sleeves. So light, sheer (a tank/cami needed underneath) and it just sat SO well on me. Second, tried on this again sheer black shirt, tailored, and light cotton/silk with short sleeves, perfect for spring/summer. Beautiful.. Then, I tried on this black chiffon/pleated top. It was just the capped sleeves that were tightly pleated, then the top which just hung so well, is pleated also.. and its definitely an evening top. I then tried on the peach version, and OOOHER. It was SO pretty, so girly, so feminine, I was just grinning. And because these clothes are quite sophisti-ma-cated, I had to put them on layby, but I did get a discount just because they know me well.. but yeah. Each top was around the $90.. But they are all in neutral colours (cream, black and peach) so they'll last a long time, and they are work/going out friendly! I also wrote a second review for pop-couture, this time for the Grey's Anatomy opener. Honestly, aside from seeing Denny again, the actual highlight was the ELECTRICITY between Dr Hunt and Cristina. Far more excitement in one episode than ALL episodes with her and Dr Burke. HOT. But for more.. please check out my review, and comment please! :) .014 || Ruined Me.

when my head is strong/but my heart is weak.. [26 Sep 2008|11:27pm] aussiebuffy [ mood | lethargic ] Pure illustration of how tired/wrecked/burnt out I am.. I just 'rested my eyes' in the 2nd half of Survivor: Gabon.. and I fell asleep. Grrr. Just enough to open my eyes during the 2nd tribal council, and go oh CRAAAPPPP... But I'll write all about it (when I re-watch that end bit) and write about it at pop-couture :) What a kick ass new season..!! But I'm frickin wrecked, and I'm overdoing it, my roles/responsibilities have kicked into doing other people's jobs now, and I can't do that anymore. I need to hand over.. and if they don't do their job - let them fall on their ass. I'm just wiped and I'm getting to that slightly irritated area of 'they're not paying me to do a whole department's job, so why should I?'. .02 || Ruined Me.

Cos I get what I want and I know what I need.. [25 Sep 2008|09:56pm] aussiebuffy [ mood | flirty ] [ music | Boys - Ashlee Simpson ] (I'm liking the lyrical subject lines!) I'm a bit headachy, but that's only because I've put more pressure on myself to just ACHIEVE this week. And I think I have.. I'm pretty sure my manager has really seen the level of just.. EVERYTHING I have put into this project, although at the cost of other projects, though dang it, I totally edited a 13 page document today. The video conference also went okay.. it got a little off track, and I wasn't quite leading it as expected, so I didn't get all the points I had prepared in.. But it was okay. I think it practically gave more work! And oh man it was weird with Adam angling the camera, seeing myself on a plasma, luckily for not too long before he then had the whole screen as the guys in Sydney. (I was rocking teal eyeshadow today hehe) I had a lovely catch up and snack (and Toblerone cocktail hehe) with barksy tonight, and we hung out on a comfy couch at this place called Chartreuse (aren't we sophisti-ma-cated?) and had a good d & m :) We were both actually quite wiped, but I hadn't seen her in a while.. Hey, not too long til she leaves me *sniffles* And turns out my problem with installing Wordpress on my site.. wasn't my fault! WAHOO! I got the response from IT Support in the early morning, and it was their mistake, and it was all fixed. I totally have a live website right now, folks. :) I think my first *real* post may be a review on James Morrison's latest album... *squeals* When I was thinking about it, I was like oh man.. end of September is so far away! But now its here, and its a LOT more bluesy, and soul-ly then Undiscovered... Oh man, I just got goosebumps watching Vanessa Amorosi perform Perfect on The Footy Show Grand Final (I only watch for the players revue..). A brilliant song, and her live performances eclipse the studio sound. Gorgeous. .04 || Ruined Me.
