Donny recently passed his old printer/scanner combo on to me as a hand-me-down.

To test it out I drew a few things in pencil and colored them in Paint.net. With any luck some of this will make it into a vidyagaem.

I've been all about the 1931 Threepenny Opera on youtube today, thanks to a handy playlist someone created. I don't know how I've gone so long without seeing this. It's awesome so far.

Persona 3 is probably the best MegaTen game I've ever played. It owes a lot to older entries in the series, but it winnows away some of the more tedious parts of older games.

The "social links" you pursue when you're not beating back the supernatural are uniformly well-written and entertaining too. Some only happen when your social stats (charm, academics and courage) are raised past a certain threshhold.

In the case of the supergourmet, you have to raise your level of charm from "Plain" to "Unpolished" before you can win him away from his sandwich.

Funnily, the avenues to raise your charm are almost all through restaurants and cafes scattered around the city, rather than anything like elocution lessons. It works out that you have to eat pork ramen and drink "pheromone tea" until you're charming enough to land the chubby dude.

We will assume that all regions in a map are connected. This eliminates any problems presented by such geographical entities as Michigan.

I love the idiots online trumpeting the defeat of the bailout as a victory for the "people." It's likely to be a pyrrhic one at best.

Though wealth may not automatically trickle downwards, poverty sure does. We've been checking the indicators on our gas tanks nervously for the last several years, but the resource that dried up and left stuck the gears of industry turned out to be economic confidence and not petroleum. It's a worse disaster-- it's the pressure that draws the existing oil (and everything else) down the pipelines.

That's not to say, however, that I haven't enjoyed watching the market crash. But I don't think it's a victory for la gente; I'm just slightly masochistic and I have a big mean streak. I feel simultaneously absolved of my personal failings and punished for our collective ones.
